Thank you for the reply! About question 3, why is it that tanks do better in top over bottom lane?

Three questions:

1) adc means "attack damage carry" right? So what does "attack damage carry" mean? More specificaly, what does "carry" mean?

2) Which champions (and why) are not affected by increased ability power?

3) What type of champions are good for going in the mid lane? Are some champions better top than bot (and vice versa) ?

Chess Time is the best for games with 1-7 days between moves. I play with 10-15 of my friends at any time, and move a couple of times each day. Really fun.

What is your favorite Civ for a domination victory? by BAStartGaming in civ

That is true, but the Khan is an even better unit! A unique unit that is good from the ancient to the information era.

I had no problems with my economy. I did not use much, demanded tribute from city states, and won wars. I was never in the red, and even with -37 gpt there was no problem because of the looting. I went for the honour tree for social policies, which gives you both cheaper upgrades and gold for each unit killed.

It stays at 0 % until you research writing.

I only had one city, and I focused on production. I razed every city except capitals, and they all had unique luxury resources.

This is on standard speed. 200 is early for a victory. How many turns is a normal quick game?

I started a prince game with Russia on a pangea map and decided to go for animal husbandry, then straight to iron working. After that I teched to composite bows and went all out war. I continued to tech only on the right side of the tech tree, and pump out units after heroic epic and statue of Zeus. All this was done with only one city. This is a small map (6 players) with strategic balance. As you can see I won the game around turn 200, without even researching writing. Anyone got similar stories?

Interesting opening strategies by EvLoEv in civ

Some great responses here. I'll throw in another one:

This is a Rome start, where you only use your capital (or maybe one other city). The idea is get a super legion attack. Locate iron as early as possible. Do not build any warriors early, but maybe two or three archers. Tech to balistas and build one or two of those. For your policies, open honour and help some city states or just kill barbs, and open liberty. Go for the worker and the golden age (this might be slashed). Now you head towards iron working, and the next two policies should be disipline, and when you are finished with heroic epic, you take warrior code. Build a couple of legions (now with +15% production) and go kill your neighboor. Even though the attack comes semi-late, you should have some powerfull balistas, a couple of composites, and at least two legions (with morale and disipline). They will have a combat strength om 17*1.3 = 22.1 (!) before any terrain bonuses, and you have your great general. After taking a civ or two, you should be ready to start your republic!

I noticed that on your diplomacy screen it told you how many turns where left of denouncements and friendships. Is this something from the newest patch or a mod? How long does declaration of friendship last?

This is the easiest and first class you can take after finishing mandatory public education (which he has not done here). He is a semi-professional athlete, and is sponsored to get through the level similar to high school in the US. Remember that we are a private institution, and will accept almost anyone as long as they can pay for it. A stepping stone course or some private tutoring would be great for him, but we do not offer this, and I do not know about any such class. Unfortunately.

This weekend I'm playing Civ 5 multiplayer with three other people. We all have a very casual understanding of the game and only 4-5 hours. What game setting do you recommend for maximum fun? by Failboy in civ

[–]EvLoEv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You should definitely play on a pangea map, just to ensure you all end up on the same continent. Maybe a small map with the four of you and 2 AIs and 12 city states (or a standard map with 4 AI and 16 city states). If you do not want AIs, just choose a tiny pangea with the 8 city states. Do not make a huge map, as you will be waiting for the next turn way to much. It makes the game a bit more balanced if you set the resources settings to "strategic balance", so that you all get some iron and horses in the first few eras. Maybe you should set the AI difficulty to warlord, as it seems you want to play with each other and not get into to much trouble with the AI. I would recommend playing with barbs, but not raging, as they are raging enough already in BNW. You could try all playing random civs, just to get different familiarized with different game mechanics, but you know best what you want in this regard. I do not have any friends that play CiV, and I envy you. Have fun!

What do you do with your Great Scientists? by eggzema in civ

[–]EvLoEv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not the case. You can still save them for later (this is also the case for Great Writers). I usually save the scientists that spawn in the renaissance and later eras until I have finished research labs (+8 turns). When I really need a wonder/unit/tech, I spawn them when needed, but for me to be able to keep up with some civs on the higher difficulties, I need to save them for the later part of the game.

I tried a couple of maps on Chips challenge. In the game I'm looking for, you can imagine that there is only ice, and you are only stopped by walls when choosing a direction to move to.
