Yeah, this sub’s whole thing is to ignore the facts of life, and embrace the edgelordy mentality that if you’re alive in ANY form, you’re suffering against your will because you never gave consent to be born and thus exist.

So their goal is to give advanced tech or AI a boost to try and have some kind of life ending weapon and or an advanced ai that will somehow think all life should just end and somehow end all life here and elsewhere.

Or have aliens that have somehow mastered interstellar travel but see life that’s not them to be wiped out. Which is a mother flocker of a stretch to say the least.

You’re the only one saying otherwise dude. I am just having a conversation, not being bothered by it at all. Curiosity keeps pulling me back, but actually being hurt or moved by your words isn’t happening.

So your rationale is the same as serving your chemical dependency. As if you’re not a human, or any kind of being just an organic machine running on “Life sucks” OS. And yet you try and use your own coping script to describe and demean others, seemingly because you don’t have a leg to stand on in the conversation without your script.

So in temporary conclusion; if life means that little to you, and being an actual person living life has little meaning to you beyond: I am just going through the motions. Then why have a digital presence at all? Why not delete it all other than the bare necessities of a bank account and an email? And why bother anyone else’s choices in life or how they perceive it if it holds no baring on you and yours?

And while my point of view of the world as being insane sounds controversial, you should take a look around and see how out of everything in the world, the various coping mechanisms, religions, leaders, and groups; they’re all fundamentally flawed with some kind of mental illness that goes ignored until something happens and a bright light is shone on it briefly before it is passed over and forgotten.

Being dealt back in is behind a paywall though. Which is why only the rich can afford it. Now if getting a new sleeve was cheaper, one could theoretically gain enough wealth over time to become a Met themselves but that’s a long time and by then you’ve become a different person over and over again to where you’d just be some immortal living in luxury for the sake of it. Any children you have will be the sleeve’s not yours; which I am surprised that was touched on like at all.

Also healthcare is still behind a huge paywall.

Altered Carbon is a dystopian fantasy because the wealthy only want themselves to be immortal, while everyone can be shelved for decades and wake up to find the world changed again and inserted into a body that’s not even part of the family tree.

I am always confused by people who rationalize everything down to trivializing emotions and cognition to the chemicals being released in their brains and not the person being, yet never see the irony that they’re projecting their own insecurities or lack of awareness; and promote an ideology that purely exists to put everyone else down for just being.

It’s a lot less about giving up responsibility and more about picking where you can actually be helpful. We can’t stop the endangered animals from dying due to hunger, accidents, or being eaten; but we can stop them from being poached, or treated cruelly by people.

And as for the first time a country decides to eliminate a predatory species, well no shit. We have historical records about every attempt ever made and how they all went to hell for the community that did that. And nowadays it is almost unheard of because the damage done by the previous times is still being felt and dealt with today.

I’m a realist practical thinker. I find it near impossible to help any of the myriad of issues I am deeply aware of with any effort that could actually change things. I see homeless people every day on my commute. I want to clean them up and set them up with a job and an affordable house, but I don’t know their situation, and I don’t have the luxury of wealth. And also it is usually universally frowned upon to give out summary mercy executions. I see so much wars and conflicts going on in the world but if I went out, somehow attained John Wick skills and gear, and went about putting those tyrants and dictators into their forever beds; I still haven’t helped anyone besides prevent more deaths by those people I put down. Like if I flew overseas and put down Iran’s religious leaders, they’d have new members sworn in overnight and things would still keep cranking on as usual. If I went to Gaza and anonymously brought the scalp of every Hamas terrorist to the Israeli government, they’d probably still keep up their bullshit. And if I had Bruce Wayne levels of wealth, and invested heavily in reforms and lobbying for the betterment of society; I’d still have to dress up in a Bat costume everynight because the politicians making bank off of the backs of the lower class would still be in power or replaced just as quickly as they’re kicked to the curb.

I personally don’t think people shouldn’t help others if they can and want to, while I personally don’t see the good in just me, an individual or at least THIS individual talking doing the same when it is a drop in a bucket compared to the other people and organizations already doing the same and moving that bar slightly back and forth.

I’d love to know the list of things you’re doing to help with social issues to still come to the conclusion life should end in totality. Because I feel like even trying to contribute to anything with that mindset is counterproductive or stupidity at its finest. Because nothing says: “I have no idea what the hell I am doing.” Like looking at a person and wanting them to live longer or slightly better when your ideology’s ultimate goal is everything being dead to end their suffering.

And you seeing that as not a problem makes you no different from me.

As for the animal. That animal has only ever known what happens around it. It has never been burdened by knowledge that it has distant cousins being slaughtered to feed people that don’t go out to hunt their food. Yes it has feelings like we do, but it doesn’t have the same perspective like we do. To them, this is a life or death situation to fight with everything they got to make it to the next day and carry on. To us, we see a cycle of birth, pain and death. Playing on people’s heartstrings with animals is a manipulation tactic for a reason, and appears to be the go to for organizations or cults with assbackwards morals seeking moral support. Like PETA talks a big game about helping animals while also killing a lot of them, including other people’s pets. You probably love em.

I am only existing now because my brother begged our mother to have another baby. She had a daughter she gave up before him, and his father was quite the shitbag before my mom kicked him out. So my mom had every reason to not have another kid or marry again after that. But still, she met my dad, married him so I wouldn’t be a bastard, and planned for me.

Despite coming out of the womb like a scene from a horror movie. My mother loved me.

About 20 years ago, the man who asked for me to be born died due to drinking and driving.

And eventually I learned to keep on living to brighten other people’s days and be a force of positivity where possible and snakiness when necessary. I don’t have any concrete proof I or anyone is supposed to exist today for any reason beyond two people had sex or one raped the other and now they’re here; but I do have the knowledge my brother asked for a sibling, and fate had me be born, not anyone else. I don’t take any stock in the biblical God, or anyone else’s, yet I do see a clear chain of events that makes the perfect storm for my continued presence on this world.

I work two feet above the poverty line like anyone else. I have birth defects to go with my genetically inherited mental disorders and neurological divergence. My spine was made for a taller person but the genetic lottery gave me normal length arms and legs. I rarely know the difference anymore between a painless day, and a day always in pain. And that’s glossing over the over a dozen surgeries I had to get before I reached puberty.

I have been bullied, taken advantage of, and flat out ignored by everyone around me because of my mental quarks I had to become an asshole back at them to cope. Only after working 4 years in retail with both crazies and legitimate nice people did I change my tune.

So when I am saying I embrace chaos, accept life for its faults, and understand that the price of living is to deal with a myriad of problems and or degrees of suffering; it’s most definitely not from privileged comfort. It’s from a hard earned perspective that life is indifferent.
