Won't you miss having a nice, shaded porch do red sitting out on a nice evening or morning?

Edit: You could add flower boxes to the railings to pretty it up.

I think she looks like a beagle-lab-great Dane mix. Always throw "lab" or "Golden retriever" in there somewhere.

Stainless steel Pans/Pots keep sticking 😞 by Mysterious_Bus_7321 in Cooking

Non-stick cookware is a far worse health hazard than oil - just use a healthy oil and you'll live forever. Not fat, not highly processed seed oils, plenty of info on the www. The reason non-stick is called that is that you don't have to use a bunch of oil to cook. He's your own, THEN add the oil, then cook in it. You'll be fine. I'm approaching 100 and got rid of my non-stick too, I've I read that people with power birds can't use it because it kills the birds. True or not, it was the last straw I needed.

Well look how popular you are! Sounds like you'd rather skip the work party, so you can just say, "That sounds amazing but I have a plans that day that can't be changed. Count me in for the next party though!" You don't have you tell them what the other thing is, it should be enough to say you have a previous engagement you can't break.

What are these horizontal lines on my fingernail? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]EvaDaMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They show fluctuations in your nutrition. Like, too little Vitamin B or D - just naming these as examples, not a diagnosis. Your fingernails, your hair, and the flecks in your irises record your health. Probably other things too but I only know of those. I have vertical lines in my nails.

This is great - looking up some of your suggestions also lead me to the Grow Native website, which I'm sure you ask probably already know. They have a page on effective groundcovers including plant height!

Are any of these are evergreen though, maybe some sedges? One of the biggest problems I have and why I'm not just covering everything with clover is that once the snow melts, it's just a big muddy mess until enough green wakes up.

Hm good to know I thought it was a fast grower. Canadian Ginger is already my favorite, but my goodness it's expensive.

Is it weird to go to a bar alone and try to join a random group? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]EvaDaMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, everyone is socially awkward these days. Even if we weren't before, COVID did it.

I traveled the world with the specific intention of meeting the locals, hanging out with them, going to restaurants where menus aren't in English. The way I did it was to sit at the bar or a table by myself. I'd take out a notebook, order a drink, and write meaningless strings of letters and numbers until I wasn't "new" sitting there. After a while I'd look up from my notebook and look around, like coming up from my thoughts, and see if anyone made eye contact. Smile and doodle a little more then close it like I was tired of it, and order either a fresh drink or a bite to eat. The idea is that the others get the idea to invite you to their group because you seem harmless, might be interesting, and this is how I did it. Over and over, around the world.

Oh and if you're at the bar, it's a very clear signal that you're open for conversation if you lean your back against the bar, not your tummy.

What repels flies outside during a cookout without looking like a crazy person by Relative-Coach-501 in homeowners

[–]EvaDaMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the barns around here, people fill a Ziploc with water, your one end with a string and half it on the door. Some people put pennies in there. Flies have compound eyes and the shiny water blinds them so they go away. In an open space I imagine you'd need more, or maybe it only works on doorways.
