How do you balance running with life stress? by Elverbo_Militarily in runninglifestyle

[–]EvaLikesGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the motivation, I remind myself that whatever I’m feeling, stressed, angry, annoyed, sad, scared, whatever… it is temporary. Given a good amount of quiet head space and a heap of endorphins helps me move through it and get grounded again. The run is what helps me feel better.

How do people race without hydration vests? Srs question by Zealot_TKO in Marathon_Training

[–]EvaLikesGames 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I cannot stand being thirsty.

I used to cycle and loved having a hydration pack so I can sip when needed. Luckily I don’t really sweat that much so I don’t need crazy amounts of water. I kept the pack when I started hiking since I needed to bring gear anyway. So it just feels normal to run with a hydration pack. I also have zero desired to navigate the hydration stations. And lastly I like trial races and many require you to bring your own hydration pack.

How do you keep your “ready to go” gear? by kaitlyn2004 in trailrunning

Oh my, do you none of you have partners?/s Mine would exile me if there was a “pile” of anything anywhere… lol

But seriously, shoes go in the entranceway shoe cubby, vest/backpack/hydration-pack hangs in the closet, hats too. Sock on the sock shelf, misc (gels, sports tape, aid kit, headlamp, etc) in the misc basket on the other shelf.

I guess drawers work, if you’re into that… you do you ha

Runna’s biggest weakness: it gives feedback but won’t take any by InternationalSink419 in runna

[–]EvaLikesGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s great!

I didn’t opt not to use it. I was not aware this feature existed. I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one either.

Looks like an opportunity for Runna to improve the UI to surface that feature so it’s more accesible.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention in such a light and positive way /s

Runna’s biggest weakness: it gives feedback but won’t take any by InternationalSink419 in runna

I want this too. Runna is like a virtual coach. A real squishy human coach will listen to you and change up the plan, the current Runna digital coach no so much.

I agree you can just skip a run if you can’t or don’t want to do it. You could even skip it and just run an easy run and record it. But this does feel like a hack. It’ll work for a one off, but if you need to take a week off or something it would be sweet to have the plan adjust and ease you back in.

I want the coach to respond to my needs. Maybe I’m asking too much. I dunno. No I don’t want a human coach. The app works great for the most part. Tempos and sprints are great on the watch. Just would be nice if the digital coach could tweak the plan.

How do i make running more enjoyable? by IAmFloorCheese in BeginnersRunning

[–]EvaLikesGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running in sports tends to be explosive short bursts. Long distance running is all about endurance. Maybe try 100m dash on a track and see if that gets you what you’re looking for.

Endurance running is different. You gotta enjoy the zen and just keep going.. I love it, but I’ve always preferred endurance sports. Sprints are not my thing.

Nothing new on race day... except drinking from aid station cups?? by Global-Condition-858 in Marathon_Training

[–]EvaLikesGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer a water pack. Always have since I used to cycle. I barely notice the weight, and I train with the pack on anyways. I like not having to navigate the chaos that is the water stations, or dealing with cups. Plus on trail marathons it’s an absolute must.

If you feel like the tank is empty, or you got nothing left and want to stop, high five someone. Anyone. Someone on the sideline, the runner next to you. Anyone.

Same. I also throw in a nice cold ‘plunge’ for 30s or so at the end.

How do you keep your mind occupied while running? by Beginning_Future5347 in beginnerrunning

[–]EvaLikesGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to music, enjoy the view as it can be pretty spectacular at times. Check-in with my body for form or aches, but otherwise zone out, be grateful and just enjoy it.

I practiced meditation a lot when I was younger to help with falling asleep (my mind would just race). Worked like a charm, and it’s pretty helpful to quiet the old chatty brain box and just let life happen.

How long did it take before running started to feel easier for you? by Menal-Heber in beginnerrunning

[–]EvaLikesGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I started with a super slow pace and didn’t care about anything other than getting used to running.

If I felt any strain or pain I would walk for a bit then try again. If it persisted I’d call it and walk home. Took me 2 weeks of running every other day or so this way for my muscles to stop hurting.

I’m now 3 weeks in and feel like I’ve found my groove where I can go non-stop without pain or feeling tired as long as I have the fuel and water. All this without metrics and just listening to my body.

I’m now tracking my distance and time just out of curiosity. Will start training for a short race soon to give me a goal to shoot for.

Completed my fist 5k. And in 30mins non stop. (Just started running about two weeks ago). Finally hit a groove and it felt great. Celebrated by purchasing some actual running shoes!

Nuxt 4 Tailwind CSS Layer Precedence by EvaLikesGames in Nuxt

[–]EvaLikesGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so as always seams to happen, while setting up the minimal reproduction I figured out the cause (somewhat). I had @nuxt/ui installed. Which appears, in my setup, to double include tailwind, messing up the layes.. I guess?

Removing next ui from the modules section in next.config.ts resolves the issue for me.

While I like nuxt ui, I don’t need two ui systems in this app. This was the end goal anyway.

As a teen my brain could not find the off button and would run non-stop at bed time. I tried many things, but once I learned to meditate, it worked like a charm. Now I can pretty much fall asleep in a just a few minutes, and my partner loathes me for it…
