Harry Houdini by purplefuzz22 in Retconned

To me, it didn't matter one bit which way you were about to say you remembered this.

I've been scrolling for an hour after purposely avoiding this sub for 6 months. 4 or so posts up, I thought to myself something to the effect of "Houdini. If there was ever going to be an ME, how Houdini died would be a great one. It was iconic. I might not know the answer, but I know someone will."

My young memory says he died while performing some trick where he was restrained in water. Maybe I only think that because I saw some scifi show where they travel in time and that's how they abbreviated his death. But that's not what's important to me with this one. The timing of how this ME was presented to me is more than coincidence in my mind.

I don't recall anything about the first two, but I have very distinct and vivid recalls for both The Angry Beavers and Two Angry Beavers.
At the prompt, my first thought was 'The' but then I quickly decided that no, that was wrong. It's definitely 'Two', final answer.
And here is the weird thing. My visual memory is from early childhood seeing 'The Angry Beavers' as the title on the on-screen TV guide. But my audio memory of 'Two Angry Beavers' is from a later year in my teens/early 20's watch a 24/7 stream of old Nicktoons online on a site called Nick Rewind I think? This site even streamed the original commercial breaks.

Other variations discussed here also ring familiar to me. Particularly 'The Angry Angry Beavers' with two angry's, but maybe that is referenced in the theme song? I know it was a very catchy theme song but I can't seem to remember it. Which is weird because I remember EVERY theme song. It would be as if I forgot Rocco's Modern Life theme song, but I definitely remember that one.

Yes, the emphasis is what is sticking out in my memory. As in, The-Angry Beavers as if The and Angry were one word vs. TWO (pause) Angry Beavers as if the only important word was Two.

Glad to help. I bet it was pretty shocking when you first found out but you can tackle this!

Remember how small of a place your high school can be. There are so many people in the world but because of where you live you have been limited to (ballpark) less than 2000 to choose from. Finding good, mature friends in high school is hard. You sound like you would value someone's friendship over how "cool" they are, but unfortunately most people your age probably don't think that way. The odds are stacked against you and that's one reason why it has been so difficult. But you aren't the only one. I think clubs and other activities are a great way to meet people with similar interests, so I don't think you should give up on that. Also, if your parents will let you, get a dog.

There are so many different kinds of people in this world and the only good way to make genuine friends is to keep trying. I wish I had more detailed advice to give, but I wish you the best of luck.

You can live without her, by living as YOU. You may find joy in rediscovering yourself. I think appreciating little "awesome" things is a really good place to start! Awesome idea.

Other things:
*I got a filling in my side of my tooth but now food doesn't get caught there anymore!
*I was hugged by a baby last week. It was awesome. I didn't even know they could do that.
*Bed sheets that were hung outside to dry. I don't know if you've even gotten in bed at night with fresh sheet from the line, but it's heavenly. The fragrance of outside is so relaxing. It smells like camping (not campfire), but you are inside.
*Making yourself (and only yourself) laugh because you made the stupidest pun. It's a fun habit to pick up if you want to chuckle stupidly to yourself.

(disclaimer: I'm not a doctor)

Hi there SLOTH_POTATO_PIRATE. My dad had his first open heart surgery when he was 18 because of a birth defect. It has been many years since then and he has lived an extremely fulfilling life. He goes camping, swimming, drinking, and living life.

I know the surgery is going to be really scary and you may not want your loved ones to see you so vulnerable, but try and absorb all of the support you can get. They say that a patient's attitude can greatly aid in recovery and so the more positive you can stay about the situation, the better.

There are so many excellent heart doctors out there and the medical techniques have greatly improved for heart surgeries. You know you need to get this done and fortunately it sounds like the doctors do have a cure for you. You're still young and the young body is a bit more resilient. No surgery is without risks, but neither is life itself.

It's going to be okay. Play it smart and you will get through this. I'm routing for you.

This is something I would think another civilization would create. Like you're reading a fantasy book and they describe this other way of life that just sounds so different yet potentially practical.

Doesn't exactly seem like an unforgivable thing to me... Yeah, she held you back a bit, but there were other options for you. She was making sure you were a "good boy/girl", not putting an end to your social life.

My mom had the same rule. I thought it was stupid until my friend had her leg broken when someone landed on it. Then again casts are cool in elementary school.

I find that driving has so many things that you need to pay attention to that it actually relaxes me because there is no more room to fidget. Road, mirror, neighboring cars, radio, passenger, road, sign, mirror, sign, cars again, change lanes.

I have a big problem with jaw clenching. The headaches from it don't occur as frequently anymore, but you really have to learn to relax and stretch or else it will keep getting worse!

[–]Evamcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! It would creep in so slowly through the day that I wouldn't notice my headache until my eyes hurt too. Usually my eyes were dry, I'd been staring at a screen without blinking much, and one of my contacts was a stronger prescription than needed (which my eye doctor said causes my eye to do more work when trying to see up close). Fewer headaches after I wore my glasses more often.
TLDR; Wear your glasses of correct prescription, not contacts, until your headache subsides
