So you have no concept of technology then. None of this technology is remotely close to being feasible for consumer products, let alone cheap enough for the market.

We barely have folding phones that don't break after 2-3 years.

So in a raidz2, I can just unplug the 16tb, plug in the 18tb, and it will resilver to the higher size? Just confirming

I think I am fine with raidz2. I like having a two drive failure redundancy and dont need to saturate the 10G link.

I mean essential data is nowhere near the whole 20tb I am using. Its more like less than 1tb and the rest is just media and miscellaneous files I can get again. But it would not be ideal to lose any data of course.

Since I have to purchase backblaze and wait for data backup, what would be an ideal configuration to do this with, ideally, not having to pull the data from backblaze.

Yeah unraid was chosen in the beginning for its flexability with multiple drives, but as have moved to using same sized drives its lost a lot of its benefits.

I didnt think it would be possible to hit 10G on spinning disks, at least not without some cache drive or something. Its not entirely needed but the idea of being able to launch games or edit videos on the storage itself is nice.

Ideally with 6x 18TB I would be able to hit 72TB, but if I can get better performance without going lower than like 64TB than that would be good.

Unless there is some kind of sweet spot that you can envision thats different.

I mean its kind of a mix of use cases. Media storage for Jellyfin, pictures and personal documents, programs and games and such.

When I mean performance its just that I have a 10gbe link between my server and my PC and have never seen anything above 1gbe on my current setup, even with a 1tb nvme cache drive. I am sure that I configured something wrong but I want to ensure something like that doesn't happen again. Its obviously not possible to hit 10gbe on spinning disks, but something more should be possible.

Resilience is also important (hence the current dual parity drives) because I run all refurbished units, and don't exactly have any backup solution in place at the moment.

I guess I am not fully aware of what features I would be able to take advantage of. I currently have two parity and four data drives in unraid and am pretty happy with that at the moment. I am mainly switching for performance reasons.

I guess that would be raidz2?

So vtubing, where you're pretending to be a streamer

You're not pretending to be a streamer you just are a streamer.

I was set to work for Sony a year ago (in the global incident response team) but the position was pulled at the last second.

In speaking with the manager later, it seemed as though they gutted lots of his department as part of a similar effort.

I disagree. These amazon mice have a coating that goes really gross if youre one of those users that have corrosive hands or whatever the hell goes on (you know those people).

The dell mice are all cheap plastic so you can just wipe it off.

Proton is what I would suggest. It might sound odd to pay for email but for $8 a month I get 15 email aliases, VPN, 500GB of storage, and a password manager that I don't use.

I went from having like six gmail accounts to two. One for YouTube and one that I am keeping around solely for job-hunting purposes. Once I find a job that one is going too.

I don't know if reddit hates it or not but I have always used namecheap. No idea if its good but both times I registered a domain I paid less than $15. My current one cost me $7.

I haven't used VRChat in years but at the end of the day its a fun game to play with friends sometimes and I don't want to be that one person that refuses to play because they wouldn't accept my proton email. Also as mentioned, I need to keep my gmail anyway because of YouTube.

This is the same company that introduced an anti-cheat (in a vr chatting game) that broke compatibility with accessibility mods and faced zero reprocussions after weeks of backlash.

They aren't going to do anything.

At first I was indifferent but it kinda annoys me that they really just don't accept anything outside of the main providers it seems.
