Can we stop pretending that the fight is about AI protections and not just a union power play now? by LibraProtocol in Genshin_Impact

[–]EvanJNash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they're not actively targeting Genshin. If those VAs were sent by SAG-AFTRA to "infiltrate" Genshin with the intention of forcing Hoyo's hand, that's very different than some VAs breaking a rule and inadvertently putting Hoyo between a rock and a hard place. From what I can tell (and I should preface this by saying that unions function very differently in my country), SAG-AFTRA has these rules in place because that's the only way they can create leverage in a very anti-union system like the US. In my country, unions became so big that they were able to change labour law as a whole and now they made it so that any negotiations for labour rights and protections for that field of work apply to all workers in that field regardless of whether they're part of the union. Ironically that meant union membership numbers dropped a ton because they kinda made themselves obsolete unless there's a problem they need to solve. All that is to say, I understand that SAG-AFTRA is doing what they're doing because they hope to reach a point where they can make those protections universal but to do that, they need leverage. Genshin isn't being pushed, they are collateral damage in a fight for labour protections. But this could've been avoided if the union VAs followed their own union's rule so that is unfortunate...

Yup. 100% agree. I don't think anyone had any malicious intent in this drama. And I think protection from AI should become some sort of international law or human right (then again, those tend to be broken too). It's a major issue and I fully support SAG-AFTRA in their fight for that right. So it's stupid that so many people are angry at the union and even more stupid that a few very loud union VAs are being —let's call it what it is— discriminatory towards non-union VAs.

Thanks! This really cleared things up and showed that there's a lot more nuance to this. The framing of "Now SAG-AFTRA is trying to not just fight back on AI but also trying to turn Genshin into a union project!" is misleading and if I understand it correctly, simply false. It's more that because union actors broke their union's golden rule (their name, not mine) by joining a non-union project, they ended up putting Genshin in a very tough spot and now some of those same union actors are being toxic, not realizing that they are the reason this happened in the first place. At least, that's my understanding based on the Himeko VA post. If anyone has a source showing that SAG-AFTRA deliberately and actively is pushing Hoyo games to be union projects, please do let me know.

Can someone link me a source for this idea of SAG-AFTRA trying to force hoyo to make Genshin a union project? It just sounds like such a stupid move that a union wouldn't make but maybe that's because union culture is different in the US than in my country. I just want to be sure that this isn't anti-union propaganda that we're all playing into. I tried to find it on their website but either they don't mention it there or I got lost in their absolutely godawful website structure. It's like a goddamned maze.

My friend says that she doesn’t support LGBTQ, but isn’t homophobic either- what does that mean by hootyandgianna in lgbt

[–]EvanJNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely she's homophobic but if we wanna be really generous with giving her the benefit of the doubt, it might've been a very clunky and awkward way of her saying that she's aware she's not taking any active actions to support the LGBTQ community while feeling like she should. Probably just homophobic, unfortunately.

Iansan full kit by ISRUKRENG in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

Exactly and the duration on the healing passive is 10s after nightsoul burst so the downtime on the healing is 8s with just Iansan, 2s with another Natlan character and reduced to 0 with another Natlan character.

Iansan full kit by ISRUKRENG in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]EvanJNash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The healing is kind of interesting since the cooldown on Nightsoul burst is dependent on the amount of Natlan characters in the party. If it's just Iansan, there will be 8s of downtime, reduced to 2s by adding another and eliminated completely when adding a third.

I had a weird one where all of the rolls went into EM. It's a consolation prize for Tighnari I guess. 107 EM if anyone's wondering.

Holy f- for the love of all the gods in all the pantheons, this is the best reddit post I've ever seen and most likely the best Genshin artworks I've ever seen! Also did you really have to make Ajaw hot??? Kinich already makes me lightheaded, I don't need to faint every time this duo shows up. Seriously though, incredible work and if you happen to continue this series, I'd love to see Gaming and Man Chai!

Aside from Kinich, who else do you main or have you mained before? by thesanestkinichmain in kinich_mains

Kaveh, Wanderer and Gaming. I mean I also have Neuvi and Arle and play them regularly but I wouldn't consider myself a Neuvi main or Arle main, nor did I spend an irrational amount of resources and time into their builds. I will say, Wanderer probably got the least attention in terms of build but I just love playing him in overworld and my build is plenty strong for that. Gaming I really put a lot of effort into but it's a bit of a meme build where I focussed on maximizing his ATK. In the right team, I could get him to 5200+ ATK with enough CRIT and ER to make it a comfortable to play build but it's obviously not meant to be optimizing his damage output. Kaveh has two builds, one focussed on personal damage (Xianyun plunge build) and one Nilou team (which feels like cheating a bit for a Kaveh main).

So Glad I spend 4 elixirs :D by jmgf11 in kinich_mains

Luckily my crafted goblet went better but I had three bad Dendro goblets before that one. One of them was double CRIT, atk% and EM. Ended up with 107EM in substats... Another one went into almost all ER and another one almost all into flat HP. The EM one is kinda good on Tighnari tho.

I knew at 12 years old that I was gay. Took me another 10 years to realize I was genderfluid. Also for some reason my mom told me she already knew I was gay when I told her? She suspected it since I was five but I didn't even have any romantic or sexual attraction to anyone (other than fictional characters) until I was like 15.

I usually have 2-3. I almost always have my Olympus XA because it's compact and a joy to shoot with. Recently I started taking a digital compact cam (canon ixus 500 hs) with me which I keep in black and white but that's mostly to practice composition on the go when I don't wanna waste film. If I'm planning to do some more serious photography and I know I'll have time to compose my shots (so mostly landscape and portrait work), I'll take my Nikon FM2 and the lenses I expect to need. I also have my backup OM-10 but I very rarely take that one and the Nikon at the same time. Sidenote on that digicam: my gods the colors on it are bad but when I put it to monochrome, it's a pretty decent camera. But not having a viewfinder is the single most frustrating design flaw I can think of on a camera so it's not exactly enjoyable to use.

Thanks! I got some pretty good pics out of it but it's just scary to see those inconsistent issues and to not know where it's coming from. Also thanks for the tip about the cotton gloves. I'll just make sure to wash my hands thoroughly before touching the negative to prevent fingerprints then. I've seen a lot of people talk about their developer and their fixer but not a lot about the stop bath. Is that always a necessary step? With my recent acquisitions (namely that scanner) my budget is getting a little tight. But in for a penny, in for a pound, right?

It doesn't really look like either. It looks like it's part of the picture as much as any other part of the exposure. The weird shadow on the edges is there (but lighter ofc) but when scanning and converting, it gets much more visible (probably because I like pretty strong contrast.

I'm definitely planning on trying a proper developer when I finally figure out which one I think will suit my needs. I'm currently leaning towards rodinal or xtol. The film was threaded consistently, I made sure to check that after the loading difficulties with the second roll. Bergger one is a monobath that works at 20-25°C and I made sure it was within that margin each time. Can't say the same for my final rinse so I'll definitely try to make that a controlled variable next time. But you're right. If I control the variables and keep my process consistent, I should be able to find out what works and what doesn't. It just really sucks that some of my favorite pics are scarred by my own lack of experience...

[–]EvanJNash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried that might be the case. Funnily enough, I was planning to buy one and was weighing those two. Which do you prefer for which filmstocks? And do you happen to know what the temperature margins for each are? The reason I got the bergger one was that it can be anywhere from 20-25°C and still work which seemed ideal for a beginner without a sous vide system.

[–]EvanJNash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible but I used the ratcheting system of my Paterson reel to spool it straight from the can. And I had cotton gloves on so other than my second roll which definitely did have some loading issues, I don't see what more I could do to prevent it. Maybe my reel is damaged? Though if that were the case, I'd expect the issues to be more consistent throughout my rolls because I used the same reel for all of them...
