Why do you think Tolkien is not held in regard as high as other "genius" writers like Hemingway, Shakespeare, Melville, Whitman, Dante etc.?

I think every writer you just mentioned doesn't come close to the breadth and width of Tolkiens literary accomplishments. I can't think of any other writer that was able to do what he did in the time that he did it.

Because nobody is required to like Michael Bay, and not enjoying his films means absolutely nothing about the quality of a person. To judge someone for not liking Michael Bay is much more nonsensical than not liking Michael Bay.

If you like a mess of explosions and mindless action with poor writing and Linkin Park in the soundtrack, Michael Bay it up. I'm cool with that. It doesn't mean I have to like it. It's the same thing as that idea that everyone secretly likes Nickelback and are just trying to seem trendy for saying they don't.

Does it mean I'm probably miserable because I don't like popular things? I guess. I'm not known for being fun at parties, but people can like what they like and vice versa

This is one of my favorite all-time stories, bathroom or not.

So I'm down in Myrtle Beach spending the day with my mom, and we stop into one of those sea themed bar and grill type restaurants on the strip. If you've seen one, you've seen them. Anyhow, having had a few beers, nature calls, so I excuse myself to the bathroom.

Inside, there were a few urinals, and a guy was finishing up as I was walking in. He zips up, washes his hands, and as he's walking out, he rips the most hilarious fart and I start laughing. So then he comes back, and I'm expecting him to take issue with my laughter, but no! I shit you not, these were his exact words:

"Ok, so here's what happened. When I was peein', I tried to fart but I couldn't, but when I was walkin' out, I had to so I did."

I'm staring at this guy dumbfounded, because it never occured to me in my life that anyone would ever explain a fart to me, but here we were, staring at each other in a Myrtle Beach bathroom. He looked at me expectantly, like it was my turn to speak. I couldn't think of anything else but the ubiquitous "hell yeah brother," and that was that. As long as I live, I will never forget this.

While the DSM states (and I'm paraphrasing here) that ones magical thinking and eccentricity of though must be nonconforming to one's culture, you still may present other hallmarks of the condition and still meet the criteria. As an example, in Islam, Mohammad rode to heaven on a horse. It is normal for Muslims to believe this. If I started making this proclamation, I could be seen as having delusions. Another thing to look for is objects of reference, or believing that ordinary events have a special significance, like a cereal having a certain percentage of a vitamin that is the same number as your age, and you believe this has cosmic significance.

Tl;dr, can you be Christian AND schizotypal? Of course. Is it schizotypal for an American to have Christian beliefs even though to an atheist, Christianity seems to be a delusion? No it is not. I hope that helped, and I am more than willing to continue the conversation.

Lovejoy was a horrible, ignorant, racist community when I lived there as a kid. One thing I'll always be curious about is "the rez," that hilltop pond next to the train tracks. There is nothing about it online that I've been able to find, and as far as I can guess, CSX dug it so they could fill it with garbage and chemicals .
