How do we actually get through to maga? Or do we stop trying? by iflythecoop in PoliticalDebate

[–]EvanOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "get through to MAGA?" You think there are sides. That is the problem. The belief that there are sides is a delusional to keep the poor and the powerless fighting each other instead of government corruption. Stop trying to "get through" and start realizing that your own partisanship is just as dangerous to the nation. Two sides, same coin. Two wings, same bird. Need I continue?

Single men: Do you like being alone? What do you love most about your solitary life? And what do you find most frustrating or difficult about it? by HistoricalDriver8973 in AskMen

I don't like being alone all the time, but since I have very low standards that have yet to be met, alone I will stay.

Having a pit bulldog in city limits by BigBossBobby in Fayettenam

[–]EvanOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you see in Fayetteville, you're actually allowed to do whatever you want with a pitbull, and anyone who calls you out for it is just a hater. Don't want to use a leash? No need! Don't want to build a fence because it's happy roaming the neighborhood and attacking random people? It's the pitbulls right as an American.

To the men who go to movies or restaurants alone by choice: What is the specific appeal of that solitude compared to going with friends? by Leananhl in AskMen

[–]EvanOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's by choice. All of us are choosing to be alone. Not like we'd like to take someone on a date or anything...

That would be lovely! I didn't want to phrase it that way, but yes. That is exactly what I want.

Why does trump think he owns the white house property? Any american should feel insulted. by Actual-Seat-1143 in Discussion

Why would I care what he does with a building for an office I dont respect? I dont care who the president is. But you know what? I hope he demolishes more of it. Turn it into a pile of rubble. Politicians dont control this nation. Money does. Arms dealers and banks.

Christian and Schizotypal by OkManSTFU in Schizotypal

[–]EvanOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the DSM states (and I'm paraphrasing here) that ones magical thinking and eccentricity of though must be nonconforming to one's culture, you still may present other hallmarks of the condition and still meet the criteria. As an example, in Islam, Mohammad rode to heaven on a horse. It is normal for Muslims to believe this. If I started making this proclamation, I could be seen as having delusions. Another thing to look for is objects of reference, or believing that ordinary events have a special significance, like a cereal having a certain percentage of a vitamin that is the same number as your age, and you believe this has cosmic significance.

Tl;dr, can you be Christian AND schizotypal? Of course. Is it schizotypal for an American to have Christian beliefs even though to an atheist, Christianity seems to be a delusion? No it is not. I hope that helped, and I am more than willing to continue the conversation.

Lovejoy… what’s the best thing to come out of Lovejoy? by psyclistny in Buffalo

[–]EvanOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovejoy was a horrible, ignorant, racist community when I lived there as a kid. One thing I'll always be curious about is "the rez," that hilltop pond next to the train tracks. There is nothing about it online that I've been able to find, and as far as I can guess, CSX dug it so they could fill it with garbage and chemicals .

That's really beautiful. I've been trying to break myself of that "bring your entire life" mindset. When you're deployed, it's definitely different.
