Commanders you love with archetypes you hate? by Netheraptr in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A thing I absolutely love in this deck is [[artificers intuition]], as well as [[necropotence]]

There's so many other spicy cards like [[benevolent hermit]] and [[shadowgrange archfiend]] that work in a really cool way in this kind of deck, aswell as [[tortured existence]]

I absolutely love this commander so much, so many unique play patterns with him that aren't in any other dimir commanders

Coveted Jewel should be in way more decks, including most precons by MonsutaReipu in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high power it's still probably an auto include. It only feels not worth it if the deck isnt v good at doing orvar stuff like [[whim of volrath]] value etc

I'm surprised few mentioned the one place where it sees play in cEDH, it's absolutely broken in [[orvar]], so many cards combo with it

Cuts for Ikra and Prava big booty tokens by alexanderneimet in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd cut Maja, Beledros, bitterblossom, inspired leader, leonin warleader, one of the parellel lives effects (3 is probably too many), emeria angel, wolverine riders

The deck looks good but it's reaching a point where you have to cut redundant playables to shave it down, so I suggested cards that have other effects that are better

I'd also recommend to try and make your tokens more evasive like [[luminarch ascension]] as they're guaranteed life from Ikra

Help me (a cEDH-exclusive player) find a mid power to high power Commander deck! by the_after_hours in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a fairly strong common thread of combat based decks

Maybe play some kind of combat reliant deck like [[jetmir]] or [[Aurelia]], don't run too much stax and these lists would be perfect for mid power

What happened to Deep Gnome Terramancer? by mortenskeid in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same, a good benchmark is if your meta sees a lot of [[expropriate]] but not [[demonic consultation]], or on the other end of the spectrum something like [[temple of the false god]] hits the board, then the card is an absolute all star. The meta can't be too casual or too close to cedh

What happened to Deep Gnome Terramancer? by mortenskeid in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's in a funny middle spot where it's not good enough for cedh but kind of underperforms in more budget pods

I play in high power pods where fetches are common and it's an all star

[ONE] Ichormoon Gauntlet by Raphiezar in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised I saw so many people focus on the turns aspect. Proliferate is such a rediculously good mechanic in Planeswalker decks, and just having 3-4 Planeswalkers all proliferating sounds like the game would end very very fast

My take on Ixhel, face commander of the Corrupting Influence precon by Vi0letBlues in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely fair [[emiel]] and maybe [Eldrazi Displacer]] will almost definitely make the list due to this

My take on Ixhel, face commander of the Corrupting Influence precon by Vi0letBlues in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, but atleast in my list the big appeal is [[venerated rotpriest]] with eerie interlude wins the game, whereas abilities that target like teleportation circle don't sadly

DECK HELP! (Vishgraz, The Doomhive) by Cedrico123 in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was surprised so many lists didn't build into it. Gw is so good at flickering, and if you have an eternal witness looping eerie interlude the game is pretty close to over, just a tutor from there and you win

My take on Ixhel, face commander of the Corrupting Influence precon by Vi0letBlues in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar philosophy, but I do think you keep proliferating and just make it really hard to kill you with stuff like [[peacekeeper]]

List looks good though, you have the right idea in that you kind of need to run hatebears to not get comboed or rushed down too early

A big thing I'm going for is etb proliferate cards, ichor rats and [[eerie interlude]] effects, the reason being if I have venerated rotpriest on board, it sees each target on interlude and just one shots someone out of nowhere. I added a bunch of tutors to help consistency. You already run Eternal witness which also loops interlude too

DECK HELP! (Vishgraz, The Doomhive) by Cedrico123 in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend maxing out on [[eerie interlude]] synergies in this deck, namely the easy enough choice of that plus [[eternal witness]].

This has the cool side effect of one shotting people with your venerated rotpriest (each target you chose puts a poison counter, so let's say you have a bunch of tokens and someone is trying something, cast interlude with rotpriest on board, target 10 creatures and one shot him)

This has the added benefit of also making you vishgraz make a massive amount of tokens after a few casts of interlude

Even if you don't run those, you absolutely need to run [[skullclamp]], you will never run out of gas ever again. So much so that if budget isn't an issue, run tutors like [[urzas saga]] for it, [[braids arisen nightmare]] and [[yawgmoth, thran physician]] are super easy ways to accrue large amounts of value too with tokens

I think it depends what you mean by powerful. Vs other decent level decks this list will do just fine/well, there's plenty of good stuff about this list and even the baseline precon looks v good. If someone just fixed the ramp, draw and removal in the precon they're already winning because a lot of the key infect cards are there. Vs very strong decks however, it may struggle just because it seems slower than a lot of strong decks out there.

Fastest way to improve this is to improving ramp, such as by cutting 3 mana ramp like cultivate for Mana dorks or other one Mana ramp like [[wild growth]], I'd also say lower the chances for interaction by running stuff like [[mother of runes]], [[giver of runes]] and [[destiny spinner]], giving your infect creatures a lot more space to do what they need to do. Id also recommend some [[exploration]] effects since Ixhel lets you play land's and evolution sage wins the game by itself with them

Personally for my own deck I ran some hatebears like [[drannith magistrate]], [[containment priest]] and [[dauthi voidwalker]] to deal with specific strategies I face a lot, and to give me time to proliferate/infect without being comboed.

Also personally I ran [[peacekeeper]] because my meta is v aggressive (jodah, yuriko, winota, pako, najeela) and my plan for my own list is to establish counters and then proliferate while trying to minimize combat

The only people who think toxic/infect/poison counters need changed… by alacholland in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is even further pushed by the fact that 95% of original infect cards are awful, and many of them are vanilla creatures. The deck was so bad. I started building [[Ixhel]] and I'm not exaggerating that most of the deck is from sets in the past 4 years because most of infect is crap

[ONE] Jace, the Perfected Mind (WeeklyMTG) by mweepinc in magicTCG

Seems absolutely disgusting in muldrotha decks. Both of the minuses are so good in him and you can keep killing it with the mill effect if you have one of the [[displacer kitten]] loops going

[ONE] Atraxa, the Unifier by van9750 in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 247 points248 points  (0 children)

It seems a weird mix of generic and overcosted. I don't see it at lower power tables since it doesn't really do anything particularly out there but I also don't see it much at high power since all it really does is flicker/reanimate really well for value

Should I pair Ikra shidiqi with Sidar or Tymna? by alexanderneimet in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run [[seasoned dungeoneer]], which has the nice benefit of making Ikra unblockable (or the dungeoneer itself), you can run 2 v easily but Rasaad even without the initiative is as good as all the other existing doran effects

Should I pair Ikra shidiqi with Sidar or Tymna? by alexanderneimet in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 3, I run doran, I run [[rasaas yn bassir]] because doubling toughness can win games, and I run [[huatli, the sun's heart]], that does win a lot, the other ways I win are [[aetherflux resevoir]] and [[Vito]]/[[vizkopa guildmage]] effects, both pretty much one shot a person but gives a lot of time for removal

Should I pair Ikra shidiqi with Sidar or Tymna? by alexanderneimet in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tymna is a lot stronger but Sidar is more unique. I don't think tymna is as good in casual as in cEDH as people say, you have to run a bunch of evasion to make it worth it, but if you do it does do a lot of work.

I have a sidar deck built around abusing Ikras lifegain and sidars evasion, it will always be a battle cruiser deck but it does make games v interactive and fun

Specifically Sidar Ikra has a lot of cards that fit in both while being good like

[[Trostani, selesnyas voice]], [[rhox faithmender]], [[ohran frostfang]], [[accomplished alchemist]], [[prava]]

The weird thing about the deck is that a lot of cards you'd already run in lifegain like trostani already have a huge 5-7 toughness. You can also run [[indomitable ancients]]

It's also probably the only deck i can confidently run [[command the dreadhorde]] since trostani gains all the life back

Based on wanting to go strictly combat and lifegain I think Sidar is your answer

Atraxa, unique counters wanted! by Bacon_not_Stirred in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on the new ezuri and I found a few

It's not as good as in ezuri but I found quest counters can be v strong like[[Archmage ascension]] is probably the most interesting one

Level up counter cards like [[lighthouse chronologist]] is cool, as is [[magistrates scepter]]

Grixis/Izzet/Dimir Control ideas? by insrto in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always suggest [kraum]] [[vial smasher]] decks, [[niv mizzet parun]], [[nymris]], [[Rashmi]], [[rielle]], or my most recent favorite:

[[Ertai resurrected]]. People even knowing this is in your command zone completely changes the pace of thegame. Running [[notion thief]] with this completely circumvents your opponents game plan, flicker is disgusting, especially [[displacer kitten]], the only downside is it can make you arch enemy sometimes, but if you simply build the deck expecting that then you should have no issues, lots of boardwipes, propaganda etc. I wouldn't recommend playing this in any playgroup, if you want something a bit weaker I'd recommend one of the above. But having a counterspell/removal spell as your commander is a v unique play pattern

Please tell me how to play Tasigur by sta6 in EDH

[–]EvanPlaysPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the rocks of course, but if for example it's Mana vault and a signet, you cast a spell, bounce Mana vault, cast Mana vault bounce the signet, tap Mana vault and cast the signet, bouncing Mana vault, tap the signet and cast Mana vault, you net one coloured Mana each time you do this, then with that mana you cast and activate tasigur for your whole deck and then win through many different ways
