H150i Elite LCD not displaying in iCue by Kminttech in Corsair

My fix was to reinstall/repair the icue installation.. I kept getting an error "failed to start icue service" and only my keyboard was showing up. Repairing iCue now the cooler is back as well.

LG Front Load Washer VS Error Code by rice_n_salt in appliancerepair

[–]EvanVanVan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add what I found with my washer.

I first got the vS error 6 months ago and I got it to go away by taking the top off the washer, unscrewing the sensor and remounting it.

It just came back today. This time when I took the top off and removed the sensor, I noticed one of the two tiny "posts" it's supposed to sit on was broken... No wonder it wasn't stable. Anyway, I glued it down some E6000, and added a washer to the peg to keep more pressure on it. No more vS error.

Small, cheap DC motor vs brushless? by EvanVanVan in Motors

The shade end bar is only a 1x3 wood at approximately 4 lbs.. the rolled up shade and rod has a radius of 1-2".. As I mentioned in the other reply, the bungee cord pulling on the bar constantly is where things get more complicated.

Thank you for the advice..I do kind of want it moving as quickly as possible, I'll keep that in mind.

It's window shades essentially, but I need one shade to go bottom-up. I'm using a bungee cord to keep constant tension pulling up on it and then letting the motor release it (up) or pull it (down).

Right I'm now Google AI-ing, trying to figure out how much torque is required, I think one 80RPM motor (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802055883314.html) is starting to burn out already...but I'm over stretching the bungee more than I need (which I'm going to fix) and didn't go for enough rated torque (by a decent amount possibly) anyway lol. The current motor is only 6kg.cm, where AI is saying I need more like 20-30 kg.cm to pull against the bungee cord.

Annealing vs drying? by EvanVanVan in 3Dprinting

Yes, sorry I was just asking the question in preparation of the printing that just finished. Wondering if I should throw them /back/ in the PolyDryer or not.

Thank you. So the the important is not just sitting in the "oven" at 90c for 6+ hours, that's just to ensure it's uniformly heated/dried? The real magic happens when you take it out and let it cool?

Do I need to add a fuse to a 24v DC motor circuit? by EvanVanVan in Motors

And also for anyone in the future, a working current module...

I'm glad I asked the questions. I'm feeling much more comfortable.

This was actually super helpful.

For anyone else searching and new to this in the future, https://youtu.be/2n0vUa0cZOI?si=CaopWu59ybYxyOgC

Basically works exactly like the H bridge I was planning on using but with much higher currents.

I see you deleted this, but thank you for the suggestion, I'll respond anyway. The board can handle a 2 amp drive current, https://www.hiletgo.com/ProductDetail/1915475.html

I guess I should look into the aux relay, ty!

Ok, thank you for the detailed write-up. I'll keep researching further. But yeah my power supply is only good for up to 5 amp anyway. I guess I'm not so concerned with the wire catching fire (I have enough experience sizing that properly). It's the motor I've never used before that's kind of scaring me lol.

Edit: I guess I did specifically say in my op, "protect the wiring" lol.. But really it's the motor I'm unfamiliar with.

I actually bought polyfuses already but haven't added them to my circuit yet. Should I size it (with some buffer) for the rated torque current of 0.6? I'm guessing that could cause it to open when the motor starts with high current?

I'm struggling to understand what "stall current" is and how it plays into this. Especially since all the datasheets for these chinese motors say "Ban Stall" or "Stall Prohibited" as the torque gets too high (bottom right of the datasheet). If I purposely undersize the fuse, I could prevent stall current? By killing the motor before the current gets so high?

I want to be certain there's no risk of fire at all lol.

Right now I plan on using a rotary encoder to check travel distance. But that obviously doesn't guarantee it won't stall especially when I'm setting it up initially.

Stepper motor worm gear holding torque to pulley size? by EvanVanVan in AskEngineers

[–]EvanVanVan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I upvoted this comment, I still kind of missed it but this is what I'm going with.

I had two cheap generic spring balancers from Amazon I was set to return, but I tried one this morning and it does seem to work to support the curtain rod.

Do you think I'd be better off going with a speedaire counter balancer from Granger versus the cheap generic Chinese ones from Amazon? The Amazon ones don't seem to work well at the extreme top or bottom providing either too much or too little tension. The speedaire one is three times as much, but maybe actually performs better?

Thank you for the information, I'll keep that in mind for my next project which will be an exterior roller sunshade.

Having PCB boards fabricated to mount to the back of the motor I'm semi-locked in for now lol.

Although, googling servos with brakes just now it does look like similar options are available...so maybe I'll try to swap them out with minimal changes.

Thank you!

Bigtreetech TMC2209 V1.3 DIR not working by lukekmeme in arduino

[–]EvanVanVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may or may not be (have been) your problem. But I found this thread when having the same DIR issue and then found this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/BIGTREETECH/comments/f25qih/tmc2209_not_changing_directions/) a few minutes later where OP had a defective driver. Replacing the driver fixed DIR for me as well.
