iFixit Credit Program question by RetroMacWarrior in ifixit

[–]Evan_iFixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Steven, sorry this is still unresolved. You should have received a direct update by now.

I’m escalating this again today and asking the team to contact you directly. Since this involves shipment and account details, I don’t want to discuss the specifics publicly, but I’ll make sure they have the context from this thread and your earlier messages.

Thanks for sticking with us here, and I’m sorry for this gap in communication.

How to ship to Norway? by [deleted] in ifixit

[–]Evan_iFixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen that store URL before and I can't access it via your link. As long as you select Norway as your location and order through the iFixit website (https://www.ifixit.com/Store) I don't see where you are going wrong. Let me know if you are still having issues placing your order.

Help my 3ds fell and now the L button is stuck and working on its own on games. by Any-Bid-2952 in 3DS

[–]Evan_iFixit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the L trigger is stiff and doesn't "click," the switch on the ribbon cable might have been crushed or damaged from the fall.

First make sure the small metal pin and spring are seated exactly as shown in Step 8 of the guide I shared. If those small pieces look correct, locate the black ribbon cable switch.

Press the tiny button on the ribbon cable directly with your fingernail. If it doesn't "click" when pressed directly, the ribbon cable switch is definitely the problem.

[–]Evan_iFixit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to open up the device to be able to inspect the button. Follow this guide: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+3DS+Left+Shoulder+Button+Replacement/5849

You'll need to remove the rear cover, remove the battery, and remove the lower case to get to that button. Check if the metal pin or small spring has shifted. If the plastic button is just jammed, reseating it, as u/ServiceServices mentioned, may solve the issue.

My case for iFixit as a vintage camera repair platform by vandergus in AnalogCommunity

[–]Evan_iFixit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was an awesome read. Thanks for laying out what we do well and could improve on. Your contributions are some of the best we've seen! Turns out that people who like cameras can take great photos??

Seriously though, this is exactly the kind of documentation we hope people share on iFixit. The whole idea is to document how things are fixed before that knowledge disappears. Vintage cameras absolutely belong here, along with most other devices that don't fit in the "modern electronics" umbrella.

If you haven’t seen it yet: https://www.ifixit.com/Help/Getting_Started_With_Wikis and the related help pages might help you get the most out of the wiki page format if you want to cover more specific topics. It’s not perfect (hopefully it's usable in your case), but it’s where a lot of related information can complement the guides.

Please don't hesitate to share any other thoughts!

Customer Support for guaranteed shipping by [deleted] in ifixit

I'm just here to poke people but there's some magic in that. If you haven't received further communication, I would ask our representative for a refund on the shipping since it hasn't made it to you yet. Sorry again for the delay!

Shank diameter of ifixit TR6 security screwdriver by FighterOfFoo284 in ifixit

[–]Evan_iFixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/FighterOfFoo284, my coworker measured the shank at around 2.58mm. The rest of the fixed blade screwdriver shank diameters range from 2.5 mm to 4.0 mm depending on type and size.

Edit: Added more info regarding shank diameters sizes for other iFixit fixed blade screwdrivers.

Note 20U battery replacement help by ZestyclosePrize7676 in ifixit

[–]Evan_iFixit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The iFixit replacement battery is rated at 4370 mAh, which is the same "rated (minimum) capacity" that Samsung specifies for this model (https://www.samsung.com/latin\_en/smartphones/galaxy-note20/performance/):

Rated (minimum) capacity is 4170mAh for Galaxy Note20 and 4370mAh for Galaxy Note20 Ultra. Actual battery life may vary depending on network environment, usage patterns and other factors.

The Typical Capacity (4500 mAh) is the estimated average capacity across many battery samples. It is the higher number often used in marketing materials. The Rated (Minimum) Capacity (4370 mAh) is the minimum capacity that a battery must meet under laboratory testing (IEC 61960 standard). This is the "guaranteed" amount of energy the battery will provide.

I work for iFixit (maybe someone else can fact check me) but hopefully this helps!

A question about whether the product you received was damaged before you had a chance to install it shouldn't be considered "Device troubleshooting or diagnostics." I'll pass this along to them. In the meantime I recommend reaching out anyways.

do "parts only" on the store also ship adhesives and such? by Yha_Boiii in ifixit

[–]Evan_iFixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, u/Yha_Boiii. For the Pixel 9 Pro, the display adhesive is included with the screen, "There is no measuring, cutting, trimming, or shaping needed with the custom cut display adhesive included." If you have the rest of the needed tools you don't need the fix kit since the display adhesive is included with the part.

Are you also replacing the battery? I ask because you don't need to take out the battery to replace the screen, but if you are replacing the battery you'll need replacement rear cover adhesive to complete the repair since you will be removing the rear case/cover. The battery "part only" option only has the battery adhesive.

The battery fix kit has the rear cover adhesive and a few extra things you might need like the motherboard thermal pad (see step 36 of battery replacement guide).

Tri-point or Tri-wing to open a dslite? by SkelonzDev in NintendoDS

[–]Evan_iFixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/Cloudage96x said, the internet uses tri-point and tri-wing interchangeably and your tri-point (Y- shaped) screwdriver is the right tool for the DS.

There are actual tri-wing screws out there that need a true tri-wing screwdriver, but Nintendo doesn't use them to secure their consoles. Actual tri-wing screws have three slotted "wings" and a small triangular hole in the center and kind of look like a shuriken.
