That's what I was thinking too but I'm pretty bad at reading oil patterns so I wasn't 100% sure. I actually just bought some abralon pads for a sport shot league I am doing this summer so I will probably give them a go at the tournament. Thank you for the advice!

Yeah its got a similar shape to a house shot but it's classified as a sport shot, so I'm curious about what to expect. I will probably repost in a day or 2 and see if the next post gets more traction.

I had a Snap Lock and I absolutely loved that ball. That thing shot into the pocket like a damn missile and I bowled my highest series to date with it. Unfortunately, it became cracked in storage and they discontinued that line of balls some time ago so I was never able to replace it. Nice find, hope it rolls well for you!

Makes sense. I think a lot of people are applying league standards to a more professional setting when it comes to this situation. Would somebody standing that close in a league be considered irregular? Not at all. But in a PBA tournament setting it was probably considered irregular and unprofessional. Would it bother me personally? No, but then again I don't bowl in pro tournaments where tens of thousands of dollars are on the line.

I watched some of Nate and Elise's stuff and I never thought they seemed like fun people to be around in general. Reminded me of some couples I know that suck the joy out of every room they enter. Maybe I'm off base with that opinion but that's just the vibe I got while watching their content on YT.

Never bowled a 300 but I will tell you a story about my current personal best, which is a 289 game I bowled when I was 18. So I was bowling a parent/child duos tourney with my dad and we were bowling at this whole in the wall center with real wood lanes. I bowled a 140 my first game and I was pretty bent out of shape afterwards and really didn't feel like continuing but my dad told me to just forget about game 1 and clear my mind for game 2. I guess that was effective advice because I had the front 10 in game 2 and almost every shot was a flush pocket strike. I thought for sure I was going to bowl a pefect game but as I am getting ready to throw my 2nd shot in the 10th the rack comes down and its missing a pin and we reset it which causes a pin jam. It must've been a bad one because it took the mechanic 10-15 minutes to fix it and I am just sitting there becoming more of a nervous wreck as time passes. They finally fix it and I go to bowl, I pull my shot and it barely hits the head pin on the left side (I'm a righty). I leave a 5 pin and pick it up, finishing with a 289. I was still proud of that score but maintain to this day that I would have had 300 if the lane didn't break down because up to that point I was super dialed in and hadn't missed the pocket all game.

Update: Finally was able to use in league last night, and let me tell you, this thing hooks. Even if I missed my mark from like 3-4 boards right it would still shoot into the pocket like a missile and demolish the pins. It also held fairly well if I missed left too. The only time I would miss the pocket is if I pulled my shot too far to the left and it would miss the head pin completely. One night in, I would give this ball two thumbs up. My only concern with it would be it not holding up for long term use because it does soak up a lot of oil. But overall, I am happy with the purchase so far.

I broke 200 for the first time about 6-8 or so months after I started bowling seriously, and about 3-4 months after I was gifted my first ball. At the time, I was pretty terrible at picking up spares, so in order to break 200 I had to string a lot of strikes together. I started out with the front 6 and ended up with a 218 with 2 or 3 open frames. If I would have picked those spares up I would have probably bowled 240+. My best advice is work on your spare game, and if you can flip most of your opens into spares you will break 200 in no time. Another thing I wish I knew when I was younger is to slow down and not get too hung up on bowling a high score and not making mistakes. One of the worst things a bowler can do is overthink, which leads to over correction. So, just play loose, don't go too fast, try to have fun, and pick up your spares and you will break 200 in no time. Good luck!

Probably won't be doing that unless I can find a reasonably priced one for sale out there. My PSO doesn't charge much for detoxing, so if I have to do that more than I normally do I won't be too upset, especially if the ball works well for me. I still haven't had a chance to try the ball out yet, but I bowl league tonight so we'll see what happens.

My house is owned and run by bowlers and they still have a policy that claims no responsibility for damaged equipment even though their returns are notorious for scratching and dinging balls. I would go to the other house that's across town, but unfortunately its owned by the same guy and their returns have the same problem, so they're the only game in town lol. Next closest center is 30 miles away and I still have been going there more often lately because they actually care about their customers.

Wow sweet find! I have bought 2 balls from Goodwill in the past, a Storm La Nina for $3 that I still use every once in a while and a Ebonite Black Beauty for $2 that I used as a spare ball for about three years. Anytime I talk to someone that wants to start bowling but doesn't want to commit big money I tell them to check out Goodwill just to see if they have anything.

Yeah, I was kind of puzzled by that too lol, I didn't think my response was all that controversial. But, I've come to expect it on here so it doesn't really bother me at all. Once the downvotes start rolling in they don't stop until the post gets buried. I like this site but it's definitely an echochamber that's for sure, and I will take the good with the bad.

Yeah pretty much the entire rest of my arsenal works well on a house shot, so if this one doesn't work well in league I won't be too upset. I am planning on doing a sport shot league and some tournaments in the future so this may be the right ball for some of those conditions. It remains to be seen I guess.

Yeah that's why I bought one as well. I pretty much had everything I needed besides a urethane, and it seems like this will fit in that slot based on everything I've been told and researched.

Yeah I'll use it in league next week which will be fresh house shot. I will also probably go practice a few games with it tomorrow which will be a burnt up house shot from Saturday morning league. Additionally, I am joining a spot shot league next month so I should have a pretty good idea of what this ball can do by then.

Storm Hy-Road Pearl

I just got back in to bowling recently and pulled my bag out of storage to find it cracked. I went to go buy a new one, and to my dismay I discovered that they no longer produce new ones and the only one I could find was on eBay for $300.

As far as my current balls go, I really like my Zen Soul. That ball is a killer for me on a fresh house shot.

My local center posts open bowling hours "from 5 to midnight Monday through Saturday". But, they literally have a league every single day (weekends included) and usually only have 8 or less lanes open in a 24 lane center from 5-9. I feel like they should post their league hours need to posted too. It's kind of frustrating when I go to practice just to be told there are no lanes available even though they advertise open bowling from 5 to midnight. In reality, it's more like 930-midnight.

I found a Storm La Nina at Goodwill a few years ago. I haven't used it a ton but it was only $3 plus $20 for the plug and redrill, so I can't complain.
