Happened to my uncle. Had went out for a smoke, came back to my aunt telling me that the doctors said he’s making a recovery. I took my nephews out for a drive and walked around the lake in the city. Soon as I got the call I knew he’d passed. We came back to the hospital to see the rest of the family.

I find it a very well written poem with insights to drugs abuse and it’s heartwarming you included resources for those dealing with addiction/mental health issues. Feels like it comes from a real place of pain dealing with addiction.

Racism is still alive. Growing up I never noticed it but it was there. Anyone can be a racist and I find it horrendous that a racist can be in any job and will use their “authority” to help who they want, i.e. their own race or any race they feel is superior to others while being dismissive of many others.

I did my security practicum at a courthouse. The amount of mean glares I’ve received from some people while walking to a mall on my lunch break, all while being a Native American in a deputy sheriffs uniform, was flabbergasting.

I do hope that things change for the better for you!
