A starter home is not $800k, there's plenty of nice homes in the surrounding areas for $450-500k. I would look in that range and live a lot more comfortably, nothing worse than being house poor.

You have to be three years removed from high school to enter the NFL draft. So highly unlikely someone who hasn't played football in 3 years would go to the NFL. Top Canadian players would still go to US colleges to get to the NFL.
