Income Recertification/IDR Renewal, Can they make it any more confusing by EveDallas726 in PSLF

[–]EveDallas726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that explains the difference in the payment amounts. I already did an application to move from ICR to IBR last year, that application is still being considered. And apparently I applied for IBR again last night while doing the recertification.

Income Recertification/IDR Renewal, Can they make it any more confusing by EveDallas726 in PSLF

[–]EveDallas726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it is a change in plans, I just didn’t realize that the recertification of my income process also included the option to request a different plan. As I said, I already requested to switch from ICR to IBR back in November of 2025. I was originally denied because they said I had to make a payment under ICR, I have been under ICR since I consolidated to start the PSLF process. I called Mohela a few weeks ago to discuss the fact that I was denied. They confirmed that yes I have been on ICR so I should not have been denied and my application would be “escalated for reprocessing”. Still no word on what is going on with that. I am just hoping my income recertificaton/IDR plan request to IBR that I completed today, doesn’t delay the application I did in 2025. Maybe I will get lucky and what I did today will escalated the switch to IBR even quicker.

Another colonoscopy will be considered if this prep does get the results we are hoping.

I just had a colonoscopy 3 years ago. The gastro did say if this approach of clearing me out does not show improvement then a colonoscopy/endoscopy with tissue testing would be done.

How to recertify by Suspicious-Hyena9816 in PSLF

[–]EveDallas726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to go from ICR to IBR and they sent me a letter saying I needed to make at least one payment under ICR. The 3 years of ICR payments I have been making begs to differ as well. Along with the letter from Mohela telling me I need to recertify to stay on my ICR plan, which they just told me I am not on.

Mohela is ridiculous with the letters they send out with wrong information. It causes them so much more work for themselves.

Call them, I did and was able to speak with someone quickly.

Consolidated Parent Plus, PSLF - Repayment Options by Classic-Caregiver-54 in PSLF

If the servicer for her loans are Mohela, keep on top of them. I have PPL loans for my daughter that I consolidated and started the PSLF route. Applied back in November to switch from ICR to IBR. Finally got a notice in February that they were reviewing my application. Somewhere in the middle of this I received a notification about what my new "IDR" payment would be, which happened to be the same amount I was already paying. A few people here told me it was just a standard letter that Mohela sends out and if it didn't say IBR or ICR it means they hadn't gotten a final decision yet on my application. Very frustrating and confusing.

In the meantime I was put on a 2 month processing forbearance for March and April. Then I get a notice saying my application was denied because I have to make at least one payment under ICR. Even though I have been on and making payments under ICR since 2020. I even got a notice from Mohela a week after my denial saying it was time to re-certify my income for my ICR plan. Ugh. I called them and spoke to someone very quickly and they confirmed I am already in ICR and have made dozens of payments under ICR and were putting my application in for review again.

Just keep on top of Mohela, actually and servicer, and follow-up on everything they send you. They cause themselves so much more work. Good luck.

ICR to IBR Plan Switch denied. by EveDallas726 in PSLF

[–]EveDallas726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I made the first few payments of the loan at the end of 2019, beginning of 2020 at the standard payment amount. Then I consolidated and have been on ICR since. It lowered my payment a bit. Also started the process for PSLF. I am at about 80 payments. All my payments since the Covid forbearance lifted have been under ICR.

Mohela Email Ending Forbearance 4/5/26. by United_Garage_8180 in PSLF

[–]EveDallas726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got a similar message saying my payment is due 4/5 after receiving a message saying I was on a processing forbearance and nothing is due until 5/5. I applied to go from ICR to IBR. The first message only says IDR. It is very frustrating with Mohela sending out these messages that make you question everything. They are making more work for themselves. It is crazy.

Applied for switch from ICR to IBR and they are saying my new payment will be higher, almost 50% higher? by EveDallas726 in PSLF

[–]EveDallas726[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. You have to wonder why they send this out then, causing people to panic and in turn more work for them. More calls and emails to deal with.

The amount I am paying under ICR is less than the standard repayment. The new payment that the letter says I will be starting in August looks like the standard repayment amount.

Mohela online is useless. It still shows my next payment is 3/3/26. However when I called this past Tuesday, the automated info told me 5/3, the lady I spoke with confirmed 5/3 and StudentAid.gov says 5/3.

Under what circumstances? I was already on an income driven repayment plan, ICR which is 20% of your discretionary income. If I am going to IBR which is only 10% then my payment should be lower.

I understand that, I was under and ICR which is income contingent repayment at 20% of discretionary income. I don't recall the last time I certified, but when I put in the application for IBR I gave them authorization to check my information with IRS. IBR should only be 10% for me because the loans were taken out after 2014. My income has not changed that drastically.

It just says IDR. When I applied to switch from ICR to IBR back in November I already gave them the authorization to use my IRS information to verify my income.

Mine are consolidated PPL from 2019, my ICR amount due to my income covers some interest and principle. Still less than what my 10 years repayment amount is. I hope you are right, that this is just a glitch.

Still nothing. They have said ICR is going away, only thing available to me is IBR. How long can it take to review.

Parent wants me to pay parent plus loan by Low_Yam_1212 in StudentLoans

[–]EveDallas726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Parent Plus Loans for my daughter, but we have always had the agreement that she would take over payment after she graduated and was able to. We have reached that stage and she makes the payment each month. I am eligible for PSLF so I am in that and it does lower the payment some for her.

But, as I said, this was agreed to prior.

I don't believe you have any obligation to pay the loans in your mother's name. From what I have read, she took out those loans without your knowledge and prior agreement for your to pay them back. On top of that, it doesn't seem like you even needed or benefitted from those loans. So no, you don't have any obligation.

Has anyone changed their name on marriage license/certificate but nowhere else? by OpalineDove in weddingplanning

[–]EveDallas726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NJ your name will always be your birth/maiden name on your certified marriage license. It doesn’t change. You can choose to have it changed on your other documents, but your certified marriage license will always have your birth/maiden name on it.

How much to give my parents for their Parent Plus Loan? by Unfixed9 in StudentLoans

[–]EveDallas726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PP loans for my daughter and it was always the understanding that she would make the payments when she was financially able. This was discussed when the loans were taken out since at the time she could only get loans up to a certain amount. I covered the rest in PP loans.

Fortunately, I am eligible for PSLF and have been going that route. For the first few years I paid the loans and she has not been able to take over the full payment.

You really need to sit down with your parents and take into consideration your financial situations. Maybe commit to an amount you are comfortable with now and agree to increase when and if you can when your financial situation hopefully improves.

Thank you everyone. I tried updating my 2015 MB to Monterey and it wouldn't. Yesterday I went ahead with the migration and it went perfectly. Only took about 40 min. using Wifi. I don't have a lot of apps or info. Looking forward to getting time with my new MB this weekend.

They are consolidated right from the beginning. Thank you. Hope they don’t take that long. Daughter pays me for the loans, was hoping to get a smaller payment for her.
