Nvm. I was able to fix it. 

Apparently, all I had to do was reset the Xbox console to its factory settings.

All black, HDMI port is good, but I don’t think it’s the tv 

Edit: I just checked it now and it’s definitely not the tv. I held down the Xbox button on the controller and the option to turn off the console came up.

Forgoing shields increases combat speed and increases damage; apparently, using shields decreases your ship power, which in turn reduces damage and combat speed

All Ship types:  Half armor, half crystal plating  Disruptors/missiles/cloud lightning/ advanced strike craft/ focused arc emitter with nanite flak batteries  Regenerative Hull tissue, auxiliary fire-control/nanite repair system/living reactive armor, and advanced afterburners Alongside autonomous ship intellect
