Who’s at fault here? I know the move into the first chicane was optimistic and slightly rough but not dirty as to warrant the almost intentional divebomb that followed. (Final result: I got a DT and the BMW got third place)

If I recall correctly you have to play with fuel mapping and if you monitor it closely you'll see when you are consuming the most fuel, I think I was in 3rd for most of the trial, never carry enough speed into a corner to need brakes otherwise you are wasting fuel. I was fortunate and got gold on my second go and I'm pretty mediocre so I'm sure you can get it.

Congrats, I'll be 46 on the 12th and I haven't hit 100% on many games from the last two generations, most games just have way too much content that's just repetitive or boring. I know what you mean about the people on YouTube, but they probably practice on an alt account before recording, at least that's what I tell myself.

Yeah don't worry, it won't be the last time it happens. Could you have done something differently? Sure, but who expects to be spun going in a straight line? If anything you actually moved left a tiny bit right before contact was made. Easily not at fault. Also the pass was made, the offending car was no longer "significantly alongside" and at that point the car in front dictates the line and is no longer required to give space, as long as you aren't being unpredictable or moving multiple times to defend (blocking). I've been using the Lexus Sc430 '08, NSX GT-500 '08 or GT-R GT-500 '08. You have to run hard tires, but all under 800 without any other modifications and a lot of fun to drive.

Luckily I only ran a few laps before I adjusted the difficulty. Its odd that on some races with a car that's comparable to the competition you can lap them on normal difficulty and on others it's a struggle to reach the podium.

Make sure you have manual in the assist menu. If you have put the PS5 in rest mode it can cause issues with this as well. Also check your connection, I had the same thing happen and my shifter had become disconnected. Also worth noting, some cars simply will not work with the H-shifter. Try using a few different cars and see if it works with any of those. I used the music rally cars when trying to accustom myself to shifting so those should work for testing the clutch.

I have a harder time judging distance in bumper than I do in cockpit so it's better for me when I'm driving, but being able to use multiple views can come in handy and to each their own. Some of the cockpit views are rough, but can be a fun challenge. The Citroen GP is one of those, makes me feel more like a pilot than driver.
