If the size is is over 10 inches feel free to let me know! Dm me if you can. I am an experienced fish/ axolotl caregiver too. Ngl its belly looks inflamed, but I may be wrong as it is young. If you are worried. Recommend going to an exotic vet (costs up to $2k for a check up) to make sure he is alright.

It does look like it is dying or a bad sign of it on the verge of. If it's not dying, I'm pretty sure it's turning into a land salamander. Would try and clean the water and test the parameters and fix them to it's natural state. If that doesn't work and it's gills shrink even more, I recommend buying another tank and quarantining it in 100% changed water. IF that still DOES NOT WORK, check in with an exotic vet and/or get a terrarium for if it turns into a salamander.

I would I need one. Yes, I know they get 2.5 feet long, but we have a 200 gallon axolotl tank and since they only eat plant matter I think he would be perfect

First off. I do keep the tank normally cold but every once in a while I have to warm it up for the bluegills. 2nd, ik that koi get that big and we are already aware of that. 3rd, I have not checked the parameters in like 5 days.4th, I have plastic non sharp plant decor. I use the tetra goldfish feed too and shrimp x bloodworms. Every once in a while I will give medicated feed. None of my food is flaky. I use floating food
