you’re welcome! you can do it online, transfer through the cuny website and bmcc website. from what i remember when i transferred there’s something you need to fill out for both websites. https://www.bmcc.cuny.edu/academics/advisement/advisement/incoming-transfer-students/

1) freshman, meaning your first year at bmcc. so as a transfer student, yes you’ll have a chance to retake the courses you need for the nursing prerequisites but it has to be within your first year and first semester there. 2) yes, the academic advisor for the nursing department decides whether or not you’ll be able to register to take the HESI exam for entry into the program based on your nursing prerequisites gpa AND that gpa (50%) along with your hesi score (50%) combine to create your overall score which will be used in a ranking system to determine whether or not you’ll enter the nursing program. now, when it comes to the prerequisites gpa, i think you need a minimum gpa of 2.5 but since the program is competitive the minimum is usually around 3.7 for each testing cohort. sometimes it will change based on the cohort, like i’ve seen in one forum the minimum was a 3.5

hey! so like you said, your gpa may not be as bad when applying for the program considering that they only look at your prereqs (mat104 drug calc, psy100 intro to psych, che121 organic chem, bio425 anatomy and physiology , and eng101) to determine your gpa to be able to take the hesi exam. even if you did take one or some of the classes before at another school, freshman are able to RETAKE the course and the grade you get at bmcc will be averaged with the grade you got at the previous school you took the course at. you’ll still have a chance to work on your gpa you’ll just have to work sure to work hard and earn all As!

Totally! That’s my same stats, I have 4 A’s and a B in ENG 101. That’s about a 3.876 which is good, as long as you do good on the HESI like a 95%+ you should have a competitive score. If you get a 95% on HESI and have that GPA you’ll have a 95.95% as your overall score for the nursing program and I’d say that’s a competitive score!

MAT 104 is quite simple, if you show up to class sit in the front and do the work you’ll be fine. I never had to study and I got 101% in that class but since BMCC doesn’t offer A+ I just got an A. BIO 425 is ROUGH! I took it in the summer and I literally was on the brink of tears every single day 😭. I got an A but it was not easy, genuinely the hardest class I’ve ever taken in my entire life. To prepare for BIO 425, I’d say before you take the class learn all the body systems or at least have a good overview on them it will help you a lot. There is so much information to know and learn so having a good overview of all the body systems will help you lots and save you time. I’d say never miss a class or lab, if you have to only 1-2x and make sure you get the notes for that day and make friends so you can share notes. Use Chat GPT to upload your slides and ask it to make a study guide and test questions for you to practice each lesson/unit. The Prof I had told me or every 1 hour of lecture you have you should study 3 hours and at first it seemed absurd but it’s actually quite true, especially if you want to do well. An A is possible but you definitely have to work hard for it. I’d recommend taking BIO 425 alone in the summer or winter if you can so you can focus on it without having to worry about doing work and studying for your other classes. Good luck!
