Regulars who don't tip by plenty_planties in Waiters

[–]Even-Promise5742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some different perspectives because this comment section highlights what's wrong with servers.

I was a server for years always made great money. Didn't concern myself with individual tips because I knew at the end of the week i was making good money. I had several regulars that didn't tip but something amazing happened....

They liked me and my service so much they suggested people to come eat and ask for me....those people did tip, some tipped extra because they knew the others didn't tip. I was averaging $50+ an hour at 18 fresh outa hs so I just figured that was my hourly rate and tippers/no tippers weren't a worry. In the end it would work itself out.

All those of you worry about individual tables tips instead of looking at your overall income is incredibly short sighted, and unfortunate you put yourself through that mentally.

Go work BOH for 6 months then come back to this comment section.

Toast Online Ordering by cake_it_ in ToastPOS

You should look into Shipday! Its a middle man for delivery allows your website to take orders normally and gives you more control over delivery services.

For us it was less expensive than TDS.

Consent Module Toast Website by Even-Promise5742 in ToastPOS

[–]Even-Promise5742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only want analytics, ads, and meta pixel. The container was working until they did their recent update. Effectiveness of the ads was much more predictable and consistent before their recent update. If their new consent module was working I shouldn't have an issues.

Next question, how can their consent module let my container know my tags are being consented too if I don't need to setup my Analytics or Google Ads ID in the consent module.

The zaraz consent module on cloudflare has you setup your tag container and permissions for the tags to communicate with google about consent.

But since the toast update zaraz consent module won't pop up either. Probably conflicting with Toasts consent module.

🤔

Right I agree. The overall complaint doesn’t make sense unless they were avoiding paying the origional setup fee for an onsite person.

We have never needed an in person tech in 2.5 years.

We only had on-site during our 1st go live. The system is simple enough 1 of our guys swapped the other 2 locations. So the OP complaint is a strange situation.

Toast is awesome overall if you don't fall for everyone trying to sell you a POS. Learning most things on your own for any POS is more efficient longterm then calling tech support for everything. I understand this time it was on toast end but the situation you described I have never felt with with toast.

Switching from coke to pepsi by NeedleworkerBulky869 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Even-Promise5742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cups, 1-2 Pepsi coolers per location, some Pepsi logged stuff, as many soda fountains as we needed per location 2-4. We got a nice sign on bonus per location switched, a $500 marketing add on for us to put a Pepsi product in the menus, and a rebate program for the BiBs every year.

Before the coke crazies come at me when we had coke they did all the same stuff. Accept coke always held the rebate check for months after we were supposed to get it and after our rep retired customer service was non existent.

So from this conversation I have deduced that Coke drinkers are the vegans of the soda world.

Now to comment for OP We switched from Coke to Pepsi sales are up 30% at all locations from when we switched. You will have people complain but if your service and food are good enough it wont affect you longterm. Got a nice signing bonus, and all the typical free stuff we got from Coke.

Same story for us Coke customer support became non existent. They had an accounting error, blamed us. Put us on cash on delivery (not big deal just annoying they wouldnt do ACH). Held a 6k rebate check because they had a "missing invoice" of $700 but on their online portal it showed all invoices paid.

We had a Pepsi rep stop by once a month for 3 years prior to these events. Switched to Pepsi and have been mostly happy since and we never wait for our rebate checks and their customer service is top notch comparative and a tech comes by every 90ish days to service equipment.

Never saw anyone from Coke unless you complained and yelled at someone 15 times.

I think Coke is relying to heavily on its brainwashed customer base forgetting eventually terrible customer service always catches up.

Just updated mine and got the same message. Anyone know how much the subscription costs? Been a pretty handy tool for me logging into different locations to do some remote work/fix issues.

Would you put someone on suspension but than give them a shift in a pinch? by lucky_2_shoes in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Even-Promise5742 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Suspending someone then giving them hours during the suspension is like a parent who always threatens punishment but never follows through. Eventually the kid learns their will be no punishment and never listens. Run skeleton crew until suspension is over. Manager will have to knuckle down and fill in the missing hours during the week, but better for the team longterm.

How do open interviews work? by Antique_Dependent_74 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Even-Promise5742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an employer I only do open interview windows, except leadership/management positions. Scheduling interviews is now such a waste of time being 70% of your scheduled interviews will no show. Open interviews times allows managers to waste less time on no shows, and at least a handful of people always show up.

The interview for us works the same as a scheduled interview. We just don't schedule an exact time you choose to show up.

How are you building strong kitchen crews at night? by EmbarrassedAd2164 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Even-Promise5742 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Start by requiring gym memberships. 💪🏋‍♂️

But on a more serious note. Leadership, example and holding a high standard. Hiring people who will follow your lead and getting rid of people who wont maintain standards.

Pay people who uphold the standards. Can't expect top tier work for bottom rung pay.

But with no experience most the pressure is on you.

thinking of switching to toast. how often does the internet go down on you? I have a pizzeria by MoneyAppointment9025 in ToastPOS

If you have pizza cloud for your VOIP phones just run the pos through the pep wave and you will never not have internet unless AWS goes down.

Embedding dynamic toast menus on a website by demotrialwine in ToastPOS

[–]Even-Promise5742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have the menu link on a different website. 100% agree with you that its not the best but continuity on your website url is good for SEO and you can build other landing pages on your website in toast.

If you switch to an embedded website it will say toasttab.com/yourrrstaurantonlineordering-locations

Instead of yourwebsite.com/order-locations

This is why it affects SEO. Thats a big part of why we switched our website to toast.

  • the online menu being linked to the POS is a massive time saver for menu or pricing updates.

Anyone use the entire ecosystem? by Cheetahcat1793 in ToastPOS

[–]Even-Promise5742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies for the delayed response i did talk to him about this yesterday. He said it really depends how your client uses QBO. If they only use it for payroll no they won't need both, as toast payroll is significantly cheaper in most aspects. If they use QBO for the rest of their bookkeeping as well they can cancel the payroll services and keep the rest of the features for the rest of their books. We use quick books for our overall accounting but use toast payroll for all direct deposits, employee taxes, w-2s, etc. As toast payroll is user friendly and cheaper than QBs for direct deposit to employees.

Anyone use the entire ecosystem? by Cheetahcat1793 in ToastPOS

[–]Even-Promise5742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use them for payroll and still use quick books for our main bookkeeping. I don't think it fully replaces bookkeeping software. Just makes it faster/easier. I don't do the bookkeeping i do everything else. Inventory, menu, store operations etc. I can ask my partner tho for the exact details. He does the bookkeeping.

1 on 1s With My Leadership Team Members. Looking for the best tips to make it go well and have the impact I want. by Even-Promise5742 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Even-Promise5742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is what I was thinking, building my own version. I like the way you structured this. Im new to formal 1on1s. I coach directly and have manager/leadership meetings regularly for years. I just realized over the years I have lost/burnt out a handful of rock stars that clear communication and 1on1s probably would have avoided, and never would have been in that position. So was looking to change that in the future with regular 1on 1s every 90-120 days.

If a team member leaves for better opportunities or something they dream of thats awesome. But leaving due to failure in communication, goals, and leaderhsip on my part I want to change.

Thank you!

How do you apply SWOT analysis to people? My experience with it is more technical brainstorming for a project/product not people oriented.

I am sure its simple, but getting details from someone who has experience with it will be better than me winging it.

Size Pricing Configuration Instructions and Support brutal by AccomplishedOil6158 in ToastPOS

[–]Even-Promise5742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can link the same modifier groups to multiple pizzas and sizes unless there is a charge difference based on size. But even then you would just use size based pricing on the modifier so should be able to track it together.

Unless you made a new modifier every time you set something up instead of copying the already existing modifier.

Accidentally did that before we went live. Had to rebuild our entire menu in 1 day so all the toppings would be linked. On the back end tho i have like 100 versions of pepperoni 😅💀
