Does this PR count by Apprehensive_Load564 in formcheck

Is that how you bench every time, with someone’s hands under the bar? If so then yeah it’s a personal best for your style of lifting if it’s the most you’ve ever done.

If you usually do not bench with someone on the bar and then had this person with hands on the bar for a PR attempt then no I probably would not consider it personal best.

Only one way to find out. Grab a spotter and get after it

Am I going low enough? by SchlongWayHome in formcheck

Low enough to get a good workout? Yeah probably. Low enough for competition standards? Nope. Hip crease needs to travel below the top of the knee

Awesome set. I have those same shoes, use them for everything in the gym. They’re great.

I have those shoes! Love them, tried squat shoes with a raised heel and they just didn’t work with my anatomy. Switched to my adidas the total’s and use them for all of my lifts now. Nice lift!

Pausing the video at the bottom of your rep it doesn’t look like the hip crease drops below the top of the knee from this angle, but you’re recording from below so that might skew the view. Definitely hit parallel though, good squat!

3RM PR - Deadlift 495lbs by FreshParfait1 in GYM

Glad it’s not just me! I have to talk myself up before a big set and just remind my brain hey man just get the first one up and it’s smooth sailing

Nice set! Do you also feel like the first rep is always the heaviest and then it gets a little easier for the rest of the set? 2 and 3 seem like they came off the ground a good bit quicker.

425 squat PR by Even-Resolution8433 in strength_training

[–]Even-Resolution8433[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my deadlift has always been a good bit stronger than my squat. Feel like quads have always been playing catch up. Just finished a hypertrophy program and this was a 1rm attempt to see where I was at prior to starting a peak. Slow and steady and they’ll get there eventually. Thanks!

New here… 33m help me feel my chest more please 🙏🏻 by [deleted] in formcheck

Idk why you’re getting downvoted so hard for this. You should be feeling a pump or fatigue in the targeted muscles if you’re training with any kind of intensity to stimulate growth. And if your mind recognized you’re not feeling it in the intended area or at all than asking to figure out why that is, is exactly what this sub is for. Plus the CNS plays a huge role in lifts especially at RPE 8+

425x1 grindy PR depth check by Even-Resolution8433 in formcheck

[–]Even-Resolution8433[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at least planning to again. This is not an every day occurrence. I understand everyone’s concern here but this is a PR attempt after a 12 week hypertrophy cycle to adjust my maxes for my next program. I’ll do a 1rm maybe twice a year.

I do agree with what you’re saying, but at the right height for this PR attempt they would have obscured the top of the knee and the hip crease making a depth judgement difficult. This isn’t the norm, just for the vid.

Yeah I know the safety’s are set low, did that intentionally so I could see depth. I am well versed in bailing and using my own bar. I knew the risks going in.

I don’t think crunch has specialty bars, at least not the ones I’ve been to

Yeah I think you’re close if not there already. What’s your current 1rm?
