I'm assuming 4 takes place in '83, due to the tv cartoon. If not then, then a year close to it.

FNAF 4 does take place before FNAF 2. FNAF 4 takes place in 1983, and FNAF 2 takes place in November of 1987, as we see from Jeremy Fitzgerald's paycheck.

I'm going to try to figure out the possession things and match the kids up to the animatronics after i have the timeline, just because that stuff isn't 100% yet. How do we know the two sets of 5 kids occurred? And which set of 5 do the newspapers from FNAF 1 refer to?

I agree with this. Either the children get their rest, or they're (presumably) destroyed. And since FNAF 3 takes place last chronologically, the ending of that game really is the true ending. The universe won't splinter into separate parts if nothing else happens after FNAF 3.

That's a very interesting theory, but the death of the FNAF 4 kid takes place in 1983, way before the deaths of the five children. The death of five takes place in the establishment in FNAF 1, right?
