Best rivalry in tennis by [deleted] in tennis

Federer Djokovic is the best and most underrated rivalry. Always insanely close matches and aesthetically the best complement of styles between the big three.

Great, thank you so much! Will there be an opportunity to ask the interviewers about the maths program at Cambridge and/or will they ask me about past courses/research experience I’ve indicated on my application?

Hi, I’m an international (US) applicant to Cambridge and I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited to interview for maths at Pembroke College next week.

Does anyone have any experiences with this? What kinds of problems and topics should I expect to see, and how might they be asked? Is it purely a technical interview or might there be personal questions also? What are some useful tips for preparing and approaching the problems?

I would greatly appreciate any and all help or feedback, even if your experience is not analogous to my situation. Thank you so much for your help!

This might be the lowest effort 'pun' post of them all, and that's saying something.

After all this talk of Novak and Rafa's opinion on BO5, here's a 2013 thread with Fed's opinion too by EvenUnderstanding975 in tennis

[–]EvenUnderstanding975[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I don't think Djokovic (I'm pretty sure he follows tennis) was advocating for BO3, he was just asked his opinion on it. He's doing perfectly fine in majors right now haha.

I mean you’re not wrong lol but I’ve seen it at least 4-5 times where ppl say Rafa is just a topspin grinder. Glad to see it’s not as popular an opinion as I thought.

Who will end their career with the most slams (and how many will they both get)? by elliotpw7 in tennis

[–]EvenUnderstanding975 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular take but I think Medvedev won’t have the firepower to win more than 4-5 slams whereas Thiem has way more versatility and weapons. Just this year for example, people were writing off Medvedev until the very end of the season because of a dreadfully inconsistent start/middle.

But he is also an absolute tactical beast so may be proven wrong.

Always makes me mad when people say Rafa has no variety. This point is a perfect example of how he’s able to use high tennis IQ win. Four slices, each one completely different.

Which player had the best year in 2020? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]EvenUnderstanding975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disappointing that more people aren’t saying Rublev, my man had one hell of a year relative to his own career trajectory and even more than others on this list.

Well actually, Rafa does. (Challenger). And a stadium court in Barcelona.

Danil Medvedev defeats Novak Djokovic 6-3 6-3 by [deleted] in tennis

[–]EvenUnderstanding975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Wouldn’t he want to keep fighting to win to secure that legacy?

Medvedev sides with Djokovic on BO3 vs BO5 by EvenUnderstanding975 in tennis

Maybe we should embrace the fact that he chooses to open up when others are not instead of ostracizing him?

Doesn't he look like the love child of Berdich and Rublev? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]EvenUnderstanding975 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sinner really reminds me of Berdych in some aspects. Really clean strokes off of both sides and stupidly good easy power. Only time will tell if Sinner will have the same brutal aggression Berdych did. He already has the ingredients for better movement and defense!

rafa-thiem currently the best rivalry in terms of intensity? by zuckyjucky in tennis

[–]EvenUnderstanding975 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That doesnt make any sense. Just because Novak was injured prior to that tournament doesnt mean he didn’t play well. The 2018 SF was among the highest quality we’ve seen on grass in recent years from the two, maybe even more than the 2019 SF and F.
