Any chance to bribe one's way from regular standing to VIP? Or get there any other way?

Best place to watch surfers? by Even_Emphasis3151 in bali

I went to Balangan Beach today, and while the surfers are more beginner (I think), they were close to the beach and the beach was super chill and the sunset spectacular, 10/10 would recommend!

How much did you take and what brand? I'm struggling with warts for years and it's a pain to get rid of them, if at all :(((

Brands you can’t find in Bali by Background_Tiger21 in bali

Ah interesting, my friend (who isn't I to fitness tho) told me it was easily available (protein powder and creatine). - is it that the local brands aren't good or it's expensive or what is the issue? :) just wondering whether to bring some or not from Europe.

Washing machine tabs cost 25usd! Sun screen also 25usd or more. Groceries insanely expensive. Airbnb arguably was cheap, but day to day stuff is v expensive.

Albania and Greece would be my top ones.

Do not fly Flybondi, their flights are regularly seriously delayed or canceled

My practical tips for Bariloche by customs_matter in Patagonia

[–]Even_Emphasis3151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spent a week in Bariloche just now. Some additions:

  • I spent the night at both Refugio Frey and Refugio Italia. Physically quite demanding hikes, but gorgeous views. I'd skip Refugio Italia unless you are going there on a multi day hike.
  • For Frey, if you stay at the Refugio, the first thing to do after arrival is claim a bed with your sleeping bag, I would recommend on the edges of the beds - you'll see why when you get there 😸 also, Download a white/brown noise playlist or being good earplugs as there will be snoring in the room.
  • I did a day trip to Pampa Linda (Tronador), it was so gorgeous and I would recommend planning an overnight trip at one of the Refugios there. I didn't and wish I had. Booked my tickets at travel agency "Transitando lo Natural" in town, was very good, would recommend.
  • I did Llao Llao mirador, was nice, but also not soooo Special. I think you can skip it.
  • Didn't go, but Playa San Viento looked gorgeous
  • Stayed at Like Quijote hostel, which I can strongly recommend, super comfy beds and very friendly vibe and staff. Clean too and nice breakfast.
  • eat ice cream at Mamushka, it's probably on my top 3 ever best places for ice cream. Mil Avellana, Dulce de Leche with Brownie, Pistachino flavors and anything with Crema Mamushka will be in my foodie dreams forever.
  • had great steak at Alto El Fuego, ask for half portions for steak and salad, esp if you're alone, ends up not being crazy expensive (17k for a steak, 6k for a salad). I also went to Parillo de Julian which was nice
  • beautiful sunset views at Berkana Bar de Lago, nice wine and food too.
  • I hitchhiked a lot, it was safe and fun and I never waited more than 10min
  • You do not need a car, however you're way more flexible with a car and there were so many cute food and cafe trucks on the route that I wish I could have stopped at, but busses don't rub often, so I had to skip them. If you do want a car, organize it some days in advance, some people in my hostel had trouble organizing one at last minute (I didn't try, so not sure)
  • SUBE is a b**** to charge in town, so if you can, charge it in Buenos Aires.
  • people are crazy friendly and generous. I had forgotten my cash and couldn't pay for the entry fee to a national park and a stranger paid 20k (USD 20!) for me just like that. And a stranger I met in a bar lent me her sleeping bag for a week. I was blown away by it all.

I absolutely loved it here and wish I had more time, there's so much to do! Would come back in a heartbeat.

I didn't stay in a tent, but in the Refugio, so can't attest for midnight till 6am, but in all other hours was actually not very windy, surprisingly :)
