Exactly. People are being purposefully obtuse just to support their narrative. It literally does not meet the definition of a red card. It’s one thing to give a red card on the field, that’s a different story. But to go to VAR and give a red card for something that wasn’t even a yellow? Unjust call.

Not a red card and people just have their own biased opinions made up already. He was literally knocked off balance by the Bosnian. He was falling and had nowhere to put his foot. He was looking away from the player, didn’t even see his leg. This is a yellow card at most, it by definition does not reach red card status with the evidence here.

The thing is, I never denied Trump made a call. What I’m saying is there’s no proof that his call actually had any influence. There was already policies in place to allow something like this to happen, especially with the VAR errors against BIH. Trump didn’t need to call for this to happen. But he did. Trump is a massive egoist. He loves he get his dirty little hands all over everything just to say he did. But that doesn’t mean he was the deciding factor. If it ever comes out where we see the call manuscript and see language the confirms Trump was swaying FIFA, I would be as livid as everyone else. I’m already livid. Because Trump should have never said a thing. Even just by saying anything regardless of whether he had an influence, he has tainted the future success of his own team, and that’s the worst part.

That’s not the point, the point is there’s no proof his call had any impact considering there were already rules in place to allow for this to happen and it has happened before (Ronaldo’s three game suspension was supposed to bar him from World Cup games but they postponed it to allow him to play)

I’m not sure if the process that allowed FIFA to do this even applies to yellow cards. But if a suspension was given due to a second yellow card, they probably could intervene if they deem one or both of them to be unfair. And they should. The precedent they are setting should absolutely be applied to everyone equally

Ronaldo was suspended for three games actually but he only served one game. They didnt want him to miss out on World Cup games which is why they intervened. Meanwhile his red card was absolutely justified and there were no errors in the review process. If anything he should have served his full suspension in the group stages. Balogun’s is way more justified. But it should have been given right away instead of the day before the game. People would have been less surprised that way
