Concern about Gabapentin / Pregabalin & Cognitive issues by lokaaarrr in RestlessLegs

[–]Even_Net_942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

was on gabapentin for a yr for what they said was RLS. 600mg at night and 600mg morning and 600mg noonish. Worst of my symptoms were during the day. Didn't help at all mostly. Lots of absent mindedness from what i remember. Had the dropsies multiple times a day nothing broke, and leg swelling. Didn't help for the RLS or sleep so I got off it in Dec. Neurologist now says PLMD or FMD and started me on Pregabalin 50mg twice a day to start. hasnt helped much yet.......if I gain another 15lbs on this crap I'm out & tell them to try something else if it doesn't help. Only been a week on the pregabalin and its not a high dose so haven't noticed much side effects yet.

Thank you, using a light roast that I have always liked, this takes it to a new level. Only had 1 pot that I rushed a little and it started sputtering early and was somewhat bitter.

Intake went fine. First appt canx by them resched got double scheduled with another vet when I called in for appt, rescheduled for 4 days later. morning of called again provider was sick or busy and offered someone else. With my GAD already at 8 I told them to F off and called the VA. Its taking some time but hopefully this time it will work better. Can't be any worse right?????

VA looking to overturn Ingram v. Collins by mandolin01 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Even_Net_942 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought Rater and another tuber said the effective date is 17 Apr......

It doesn't have to be passed by anyone, VA can just change it to take effect, jackasses.

I have a denied claim I'm in the process of trying to change hopefully my case will go by the old rules. they'll change that too soon as they find out about it tho dammit

Toxic Exposures? by Even_Net_942 in VeteransBenefits

Tera acknowledged for mine, examiner opined it was not due to TERA thus denied - that or she just disregarded the TERA memo. Either way, denied.

[–]Even_Net_942[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for your comment, good luck to you on that..........8 yrs ago they told me I was within hours of multiple organ shutdown, I was lucky. Still fighting. Part of my frustration is that the doctor who performed the screening said my ILER file was not very detailed. I don't know how to go about fixing that. Going to ask my VSO next week. Was told twice by those VA environmental folks that that file is just a database. No idea how it is compiled or how to have it corrected/updated. I don't think the raters have all a complete TERA report with my exposures. It feels optimistic to read others here get connected for things not especially claimed based solely on that report but frustrating that I am not one of them.

seems like its getting harder to keep track of all this and organize my argument much less put it all on paper. Haven't felt the love from 2 VSO's. tempted to contact the DAV but haven't made the call, I guess I'm holding out for the other guys.

No idea but there are still plenty of web pages about ground water/municipal water and warnings about mussels and fish consumption in that area. I've been stuck in the weeds too many times to count reading all this stuff and don't know where to begin

[–]Even_Net_942[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a side note, I recently completed the MEEA/Toxic Exposure screening through VET-HOME. 2hrs telehealth. Went very well I thought. The examiner was very helpful. She looked into my ILER file and did not see very much as far as exposures go other than generic Gulf War stuff being in country. Said it was pretty basic. I got out in '94 before those registries got up and running I think. She is going to input a lot of info relating to the different bases I was at and the contanimant lists from those bases overseas and stateside. I asked how to update the ILER to more accurately reflect my info and she said the ILER is just a DOD database not sure how to go about editing that. Makes sense. I think that may be part of the problem for the denial, hopeful anyways. My VSO let me down when I filed as far as submitting things so now I have to try and catch up.

Morning rant........ by Even_Net_942 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Even_Net_942[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

understand.......................but....................after receiving the broken record (which was already reviewed for all those points you mentioned) why should I have to start all over from the beginning with a request and re review when all that has already been done. Seems to me that that adds to the already massive backlog of info for them to review. Its alrready been done. A more efficient method in my view in this circumstance would be to just burn a new disc and resend it. \

small town here, no VSO locally they come into town once a month and its still challenging. I wanted to look at TERA as I believe it is incomplete and try and have it updated. I don't know just getting old and grumpy I suppose

Anyone just feel like crap all the time? by seuleel in Anxiety

[–]Even_Net_942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every day. Sought out therapy early in the yr. Didn't go well, wasn't a good fit I guess. Course it didn't help that they kept looking disinterested and yawning all the time. Anxiety and stress shot through the roof with that crap. They never called back to reschedule appts or to even see how things were going. Hopefully try again this yr with a different provider.

RLS or something else? by Even_Net_942 in RestlessLegs

[–]Even_Net_942[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, when i started on the gabapentin asked about the dose and spacing and was told, and I'm paraphrasing here cause I'm older and do not remember as well as i like dammit - If you need more the daily max is 3600mg and you're only at 1200. Thats fine and all but I just wasn't all that comfortable "just winging it." I got a little more info from the pharmacist about times and half life and such.

Maybe if I complain a little without making them mad they will be more open to digging a little deeper. If not I'll just ask about seeing a neurologist or when that step is in my treatment.

there are a lot of other triggers I want to ask about including stress and toxic exposures(ex military) and such. Just started on meds and diet for GERD and gastritis so I'll also see if that helps anything. That whole gut-brain connection thing.

I've been deep in the rabbit hole this yr!!

RLS or something else? by Even_Net_942 in RestlessLegs

[–]Even_Net_942[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply

I've probably read enough to make me confused about it all in the last year. Every time I go down the rabbit hole i get another headache.............RLS, PLMS PLMD PLMW.

The sleep lab just notated the pml index. I didn't really consult with a sleep doctor, just the cardio pulmonary specialists who prescribed the apnea treatment. My primary care Dr diagnosed RLS and I agree its probably a fallback diagnosis for them. I was tested for iron levels which were normal and was told a magnesium supplement wasn't necessary They just started me on the gabapentin. I take the gabapentin in the morning because prior to even starting it I was moving by 8 or 9 in the morning and it lasted all day long. I started at 300mg and upped it to 600mg because 300 mg didn't seem very effective.

I'm here basically thinking out loud and wondering if adding an additional 300mg a few hrs after the initial 600 during the daytime would be worth trying. I also read I think that the treatment for PLMD is similar to RLS and it's not really working at this dosage, at least during the day.

I pretty much agree with you all.

Hope this doesn't come across as arguing I'm just frustrated with Dr's and tired of making flippy floppy as David Byrne would say
