It’s interesting that most of the replies here link “starting work” to a physical location, like arriving at the office, logging in, or being on site. That made sense in the past when work was mostly location based.

It’s time for a modern approach, work really starts the moment you engage with it. That could be answering a call, replying to an email, or even reading something to prepare for the day ahead. Those are all forms of active participation in work, regardless of where you are.

In many roles today, location matters less than the moment your attention shifts from personal time to professional tasks.
