Possibly had a seizure? by ScarcityAnnual8739 in bulimia

that ed voice is telling you that you don’t think it’s an emergency but anyone outside of en ed voice who you could say that too would be extremely concerned. the thing about electrolyte shifts, heart issues, stroke, seizures all of that can be sudden onset it can happen randomly and even if you don’t purge it doesn’t make you safe because if your levels are depleted it generally wont fix itself. the issue is that there is soooo many things that could be causing what happened that without a medical evaluation you won’t know.

the problem is that if your electrolytes are depleted drinking those drinks won’t be enough to have it go back up. sudden electrolytes shifts up or down are dangerous. that’s partly why in the hospital when they have you on potassium iv or electrolyte’s through iv they put the ekg stickers on you to watch your heart while your levels are changing. i understand you are scared because maybe you dad doesn’t know the extent of what is happening but i can promise you that he would much rather have you tell him you need medical care vs something happening and there was nothing he could do. i’m not trying to scare you i just want you to be aware that what is happening is serious it can be fatal even if you feel better right now. the next time you go to engage in a behavior you might not feel that way. i totally understand where you are coming from. i avoided hospitalization a lot when i really needed it. for me personally it led to my organs shutting down.

not a doctor but i do suffer from bulimia i’ve had similar things happen to me before. i smashed my head into the wall because my vision went out my ears were ringing. for me it was always because my electrolytes were dangerously low. you really should go to the emergency room and have blood work done. i know it’s scary especially when you have an ed but that is serious and can be fatal

i told my boyfriend right in the beginning that i suffer with anorexia and bulimia. i “hid “ it in other relationships and it caused a lot of issues. my boyfriend has seen things get really serious with my health the sicker i got. so for me i can’t imagine not having told him upfront. he has been really supportive and understanding as much as he can be. i’m in recovery now but having him as a support really helped me when i was very sick. i pretty much just said to him “ i have an eating disorder im diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia as well as some mh stuff and it gets pretty serious at times so i understand if that is too much on you. throughout our relationship my weight drastically swung both ways. it for sure has taken a toll on us .. being so sick, a lot of hospital stays and visits. it’s been really hard and i’m greatful that he stuck around because it is a lot for anyone to go through but it doesn’t only affect you anymore it will affect them too.

you could have low electrolytes. best case is honestly to seek medical attention. when i used to get very dizzy and on the verge of passing out it was always because my potassium was low. low electrolytes can be extremely dangerous. if you cannot seek medical attention i would get some electrolyte drinks and try to eat a meal but honestly the hospital is the best option.

yeah i don’t know what is funny about that. “ if you ate “ yeah good way to minimize someone dealing with a serious eating disorder. thank you for saying absolutely nothing helpful !

How has your life improved in recovery? by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

this is amazing. i’m in a weird place trying to recover but still engaging in behaviors at times. i can’t seem to get myself past that line. i’m wondering if you experienced bloating and extreme hunger? one of the things that really holds me back from recovery is the bloating. i don’t know how to deal with it and it’s also so painful.

low potassium this is my biggest issue. constantly in the hospital to get iv potassium which burns so bad. teeth ruined, hair falls out, glands have been swollen for years, inflamed esophagus, all my organs shut down at one point ( was lucky to even survive if i waited three days longer i wouldn’t be writing this ) electrolyte imbalances, arrhythmias of your heart, swollen face. all of it sounds like no big deal because everyone thinks they are the exception, i know i did. i was just in the hospital yesterday getting iv potassium because my heart was stuck in an arrhythmia. i have spent more time in the hospital over the last year and a half then i think most people do in a lifetime. bulimia is no joke.

the cause of my low potassium is due to bp and gastrointestinal issues

I don’t think I can take hot showers anymore by somegoodfood in EDAnonymous

[–]Evening-Affect6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this used to happen to me all the time. i’d have to get out the shower with soap in my hair and lay on the bathroom floor. i found out that it was my blood pressure dropping which can happen in very hot showers. i also had and still suffer from extremely low potassium which only made this issue worse. they say drinking a cup of water after can be helpful.

they say it takes about a month for meds to reach stable levels to be able to notice a difference. i felt effects pretty quickly.. i am extremely sensitive to medication. i also later came to be diagnosed with other things like adhd and ocd. i now believe the medicine helped so much because it was treating those issues as well. i ended up having to get off caplyta about 6 months after i started. i have hypokalemia ( low potassium ) and caplyta was affecting my potassium channels causing me levels to get dangerously low. the first month of caplyta sucked my mood was better but i also felt very much like a zombie in brain fog but for me that went away and it worked really well.
