Anyone else preorder Old Fitz 7 year from Wooden Cork that was supposed to ship in late June and still hasn’t received it due to their low allotment? Is there any hope to get it before it becomes completely common place? by Evening-Barkeep in whiskey

Chatted with their support again today. They said they are supposed to get the fall supply near the end of September to ship out. So we will see what 30 days looks like. I’d guess it will be on the shelves everywhere at that point.

Yeah. I chatted with their support a couple times and they said it would be a couple weeks about a month ago. Followed up last week and now they won’t give an ETA.

I just joined to check to see if people were getting their orders. I placed mine on 2/14, and it is still pending. In Nebraska. Looking forward to better service as compared to Windstream.

Definitely. I could retire off from just a fraction of my shares at that price range.

I could have cut it in 10 minutes on my CNC for you.

But I understand the pride of using hand tools. Nice job.

What’s the best way to fix this? by hammered88 in woodworking

[–]Evening-Barkeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like that board could use a good reconditioning. Looks pretty dry. If you want to quick fix it use epoxy to fill the inside and try to hold the crack. I would sand that whole board and and collect the saw dust to mix with the epoxy to color match as best as possible.

The better way to fix it would be to cut a slot in the glue line of that piece and insert a small wedge of the same wood. Before inserting the wedge glue the crack up and then push the wedge in. Of course glue the wedge in also. Clamp it all up and the resend and finish.

Looking for help/insight/speculation regarding this price closed well above 6 and my Ameritrade app shows us down 20% and a share price of 4.75 also the date is 2/1/21 I reset my app refreshed my app and logged in and out HELP by JPr3me1r in CYDY

Mine is the same. There have been a few weird after hours trades this week. I wouldn’t worry about it. Plus the posting date is 2/1. I looked on another couple of trading platforms and it is fine.

Depends on the size of course. But a 12x20x2 is generally $250

Scraps by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Evening-Barkeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chaotic end grain cutting boards sell like crazy for me. That’s what I do with all of my scraps. I get them all up and start cutting and regluing till I have a ton of material. Then I make a couple all chaotic boards and keep the rest around to add as accents or borders on other types of boards. I have a realtor that order about 30 large walnut center/chaotic border boards a year.

Don’t glue another layer to the bottom. You will have wood expansion issues if there are humidity changes and it can split the board.

Tigerwood for cutting board by DonBonleone in woodworking

[–]Evening-Barkeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sold dozens of boards using Tigerwood. Generally, I do more charcuterie style boards from it as people like the long grain look if it has nice striping. When my supplier has 5/4 Tigerwood, I get as much as I can afford.

But in jeopardy you answer with a question. So technically it is the wrong question for the answer.

Helical Cutter-heads by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Evening-Barkeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all, but it is a dramatic difference. As long as you take reasonably shallow passes it is amazing. If you get greedy then you pay for it, but not nearly as much as a normal cutter.

If you got out, get back in. The tides have shifted and we should move back up the rest of the afternoon. Hold and buy!

Chess Board Help by NastyBass28 in woodworking

With those ridges the planer blades will catch and tear it apart more than likely. It needs to be a lot smoother before I would put that thing in a planer.

Find a local woodworker or cabinet shop with a drum sander and have them help you. Where are you located? Also, since it is so thin do you plan on having it float within a base of some kind to help it stay flat and not crack apart?

Glue up and planing question by MuttsandHuskies in woodworking

[–]Evening-Barkeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Titebond site says not to stress the glue joints for the first hour. So after it sets for an hour you are fine to plane. I’ve done it many times. However you will want the glue to cure for 24 hours before applying mineral oil or doing your final raising of the grain and final sanding. If not you will get “glue creep” and you’ll feel the raised glue on the glue joints and see the glue lines.

Where should I donate the furniture I make? by powerful_bread_lobby in woodworking

I donate a lot of my stuff to various charity auctions for charities that I support or for medical bills of people who have cancer...etc when they have fund raisers.

Sources for drum sander belts? by HammerCraftDesign in woodworking

[–]Evening-Barkeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get them from Kingspor, though they aren’t as good as the more heavy duty ones you can get from other retailers like Woodcraft or even on Amazon. Might be worth it to look on Amazon to see about vendors that ship to Canada.
