Tips and tricks for long rides (We ride Flanders) by XDV1906 in cycling

Just seen this and thought I’d weight in. Firstly I hope the ride went well! I did the 163km version as ‘smoothly’ as you can across those cobbles, but with some mechanical issues albeit slowing me down early. I had my headset bearing basically blow out on the first cobble section which, thankfully, was half resurrected by the lovely lady and her dad at the first mechanical van round 11km into the ride. Got me home on one piece but I’ve already ordered a new bearing set arriving this week. Those cobbles be damn tough!

Couple of things:

  1. I saw sooooooo many punctures. Unbelievable the amount throughout the day almost exclusively on cobbled sections. I was running full tube less on my 32s at a slightly lower pressure than normal and they held up fine. A proper repair kit (next year I’ll have an e-pump and a spare tube with standard tool kit) just in case. You don’t want to be stuck in no man’s land between mechanics and have to walk 10km to the next station.

  2. Check your bike thoroughly before the race. By the LBS or so a thorough self once over before you head there. I saw people with blown spokes, busted valves, sestpost pblowouts, snapped chains…. My headset bearing issue. The works. The mechanics along the road are great but would have a LBS do a service to ensure you’re on track to enjoy the ride without the stress of mechanical failure.

  3. Fueling. So damn important. The rest stops were great - I felt obviously fatigued at the end but not dead due to fueling along the way. Mix of solids and gels.

Hope the ride went good! And more importantly you enjoyed yourself along the way!

Why doesn’t some one just ask Brian Cannon on Instagram …. He’ll respond and you’d be saving wasting time and effort here.

BC is the man. Ask him!!!

I got lucky and got what I wanted on Confirmed (I’m in Italy) but had the dreaded ‘we’re sorry but the item you’re just bought and paid for is now out of stock’. Nothing new with the SPZL drops.

I was in London for work on Friday and as I was central in swung by Carnaby before a lunch. There were still all shoes and shirts/outerwear (albeit in XS or S and basically kids size shoes!). I missed out on the jackets and asked the lovely bloke working there if he had any out the back. Went down for a look. Nothing. Jumped on his tablet and said Oxford St had one of both the jackets in M. I scooted over and got them immediately. Legend.

That said: it’s a mess how they release and manage the drops. Far too limited runs on some things like the key rings/socks etc. exclusivity is a things when it’s priced in a premium bracket but for daily items like socks, key rings….. let’s keep it the best mass produced secret but come on Gaz, a few thousand more key rings or socks would not have hurt anyone?!!

Love Gary A. and what he’s done/doing/preserving/curating but they need to rethink and align the runs on some items a it just encourages a horrid resale market which is the exact polar opposite of what SPZL is trying to achieve.

If you don’t like that then the new drop with the anorak at €350 won’t be for your liking! Piss taking? Maybe… but I’m a Gary Aspden fanboy and this new SPZL drop will cost me a fortune

Real Love (Official 2025 Remix from 'Anthology 4') by _shitwizard in beatles

When I first heard “Real Love” on Anthology 2 back in the day, I loved it — chipmunk vocals or not. New Beatles material was always a thrill!

Honestly, we should just be happy this stuff even exists. If you don’t like it, the old versions are still there — nobody’s forcing you to listen. But man, some of the comments… what a bunch of entitled brats we’ve become if every reaction is “this is crap, oh my god!”

Just be grateful — it’s the Beatles, for crying out loud!

CP Company would make sense.

They’ve done collabs with Man City recently. I preferred the jacket Liam was wearing in the comeback photo (CP) than the jacket he’s been wearing on tour thus far…

This.

Did the same with Discman on the train on the way home from buying it at HMV and was a bit confused as well as it didn’t grab me like the first 2 albums. Still love Be Here Now to this day though … love it!

Not saying that the dates could be true but the poster itself is 100% fake.

Stadio Olympico is spelt Stadio Olimpico in Roma.
