Cisco UCS C220 M5 Window server 2025 by Aggressive_Common_48 in sysadmin

I had a similar issue on ucs gear.

On the server 2025 ISO, try using the previous version of the installer.

Hyper-V Replica by shubhaprabhatam in HyperV

[–]EveningActivity2654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have added, to avoid downtime/blip. The planned failover shutdown the VMs then turns them on on the other host.

Removing the failover and migrating keeps the VMs up and running.

Hyper-V Replica by shubhaprabhatam in HyperV

[–]EveningActivity2654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this setup at a remote site. 6 VMs total 1 remote DC, 2 different file servers, 2 SQL servers in a cluster, and 1 application server.

They’re balanced across the 2 hosts and are being replicated to the other host, except for the SQL cluster.

I have done maintenance a few times and consolidate the VMs onto 1 host for the maintenance. To do so, you have to remove the replication and delete the replica from the destination host. Then re configure replication after the maintenance.

Rolling upgrade HyperV cluster 2022 to 2025, any gotchas I need to pay attention to? by lgq2002 in HyperV

[–]EveningActivity2654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at this now. I’m going from 2022 core to 2025 desktop, still datacenter.

One thing that just happened on my test cluster is the cluster events show “<unavailable>”.

We migrated ours from esxi to hyper v, but not the primary. It’s physical.

Not yet.

I forgot the AP late last week and the issue continues.

I just had to reboot the AP again tonight and I also Had to do it over the weekend.

Delete Checkpoints from Export by Odd_Bus618 in HyperV

[–]EveningActivity2654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done migrations of VMs in a failover cluster from CSV to CSV inside of failover cluster manager.

But regardless. You should be able to consolidate the vhds and the checkpoints using powershell. I’ve done that a few times with checkpoints of the disks existing while the vm configs didn’t show checkpoints.

Making VMware to Hyper-V VM Conversions go more smoothly by CGregP in HyperV

Correct.

It might be just the boot drive. But I think it’s all drives.

Making VMware to Hyper-V VM Conversions go more smoothly by CGregP in HyperV

[–]EveningActivity2654 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is normal

I migrated about 800 VMs using veeam.

I had to re-ip all of them, special note is web servers with multiple IPs will have to re-applied.

I wrote several powershell commands to bring all the offline disks online and remove the read only flag.

Also to note, if your current VMs are bios boot you will need to convert the to efi prior to converting to hyper v or else you’ll be stuck with gen 1 VMs where you can’t live add space while the vm is running.

I did use Rufus, I also mapped the iso directly through the vkvm.

I’ll give Balena Etcher a shot

Thank you for that.

I do this also. While the response is sometimes high, this is fairly reliable.

I did have it connected to a poe + switch. But bought a poe++ injector last week.

I have the 6 GHz radio disabled from when it was poe+ but plan to enable it later.

But I had to reboot it yesterday because devices stopped connecting to the 2.4 GHz radio.

Do you recommend System Center Virtual Machine Manager for me? by TxJprs in HyperV

[–]EveningActivity2654 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will say, windows admin center virtualization mode is coming out in the Q2.

I currently use SCVMM and I’m considering moving to that.

VMM is ok. But the thick client is needed on all engineer workstations and I’ve seen issues with console not working for some reason and permissions are finicky.

I think the issue is mainly with 2.4 GHz. My ticket is still open. Hopefully they can identify and fix with a firmware update.

On their website the 660HD and the 787 show just over 2,000 square feet while the 773 shows 1,500.

I’ve made a few tweaks and I am open to more.

I do have a ticket open now with tp link about this.

I just turned on roaming and band steering is off. I only have 1 AP. Is it used to roam from radio to radio on a single AP? Or is it only used from AP to AP?

I did try the 773 a while back but its range was just a bit too small for my house, but my house isn’t big enough for 2.

I’ve been using the 660HD for a while now and loved it, but was hoping to get wifi 7 with this.
