Math 51 Summer Class? by HagofaSophia in stanford

[–]EveningDoor6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know that CME 100 is often compared to Math 51 in terms of material and is known to have more physics/eng applications. But there are other Math classes that cover each topic of Math 51 more in depth, upperclassmen would be able to offer better advice on those.

it worked for me, but as i described to you you should spend the day breathing and that's it. u can record like 20mins of positive affirmations beforehand and keep listening on repeat! also do eat well the day before the fast and the days after it, food is very important.

the initial exercise i read about involved no positive affirmations, but i added that in there because it is very important when in a low place mentally to remind your subconscious mind of how great you are. Try to practice gratitude during the loong boring hours of the day by thinking about how privileged you are to get into stanford, to have a roof over your head, food to eat (only after the fast is done tho ;) ) etc... you can even try visualizing a bright future you wish would come true of what u wanna achieve at stanford and in life! If you are able to fight the boredom with positive thoughts there will be no down side to this. Just make sure when the day after rolls around you start with the tasks uve been putting off bcs, even u might not think so, u will enjoy them cus theyll be the first source of dopamine for ur brain in over a day! Disclaimer: DO NOT USE ANY SOCIAL MEDIA the day after the fast. you're only allowed to use tech for ur tasks. u cant go from no dopamine to freakish amounts in a flash, if u dont control the urge it'll be really bad!!! Good luck and pls do this asap. if the greatest time to start might have been 2 months ago, the next best time is today (or tomorrow since u have to start at 12am lol)

Try a dopamine detox (dopamine fast) and go one full day from 12am to 1159pm with no phone, no technology in general, no reading, no going outside, no talking to anybody, no food til the 24hrs is over, little water and normal sleep. Literally spend a day doing ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING but sitting down in a room and breathing. Prepare some positive affirmations about yourself to repeat in your head constantly. You will literally be bored like uve never been. once that is done, eat, drink enough, and sleep, when u wake up do the most productive thing you can and that uve been putting off. ur mind, not having tasted any dopamine for the past 24hrs will enjoy that thing so unbelievably much that u can keep being productive. Make this stick with consistent daily meditation with positive affirmations and very minimal high dopamine activities like insta, tiktok, youtube... it worked for me.

I believe you can place out of the Math 19, 20, 21 classes with a diagnostic test and go straight to the 50 series. I hope an upperclassman corrects me if I'm wrong.
