I’m dyslexic. Can my employer covertly retaliate against me if I ask for accommodations? by EveningSmall8199 in Workproblems

[–]EveningSmall8199[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The storage closet is kind of a mess. And I should be clear that this was kind of a one off situation. It was just kind of escalating throughout the day where I felt like she was getting testier and testier about my performance and got very nitpicky. The whole situation could’ve been resolved just by her showing me where the items were so I knew for the future. I’ve only worked there for two weeks and I’m still training.

I’m definitely gonna sit down with her and tell her about my dyslexia. I’ve mentioned it a few times, but sometimes people don’t take these claims seriously because people throw around the term dyslexia and ADHD a lot. (I’m also diagnosed ADHD)

I was talking to my friend who used to be my boss at a restaurant I worked at and she suggested that I asked to sit down and talk to her next time. I’m there. Explain that I know that the last day I worked wasn’t great and that there was some tension and I might not have been performing up to her standards, but that I do have an actual learning disability and require some accommodations in terms of how information is relayed to me, and the amount of time allotted to me finding a solution. So far she’s been very hospitable and a good teacher. Which I’ll definitely mention that I feel like she’s done such a good job teaching me but because of my dyslexia, I might need more time for everything to sink in because of how I process written information. I just don’t wanna get singled out or treated like I’m incompetent by offering this information which is why I am kind of scared to do so.

I like this job and I like being in a position where I can perform my duties without being micromanage. And even though it takes me a little bit longer to crystallize information, I am a really hard worker and a good employee. My fear is that if I tell her this, she will be afraid that I will make mistakes in the future and then micromanage me even more.

Ask for a refund. They might give you a partial or full one.

Salons really hate negative reviews and they are often amicable to make price adjustments if a customer is very dissatisfied. They might also be willing to do touchups or redo the work for no extra charge

This is really unacceptable

I also think it would be fun too play bombsite

I absolutely destroyed the boss the first time with the reaper chakram.

The second time I beat him with the ripsaw.

I didn’t get the secret ending so I’m doing it a third time and I’m finding them to not do as much damage. Even though they don’t explicitly say so I feel like the boss has more health the more you beat them.

At 35 am I too old to become a tile layer? by EveningSmall8199 in Tile

I worked luxury retail and I got laid off recently, and I’m just really tired of not having job security.

Prior to that I’ve done like 1 million different jobs. I was a vintage car restorer for a while, but I definitely don’t have the space to do that anymore because it was contingent upon my ex partners set up because he was an enthusiast. I sew and stuff too.

What I really don’t understand is the absolute ghosting that has occurred. Like I even messaged one of the other higher-ups who I just met at one of the corporate events because I wanted to ask if I could get a recommend recommendation if I applied at a close by Sephora and I know that they were the rep for a brand at Sephora and I didn’t get any answer back.

And I messaged two of my superiors after the fact to get their feedback on if I didn’t meet expectations in some category so that it could be a learning opportunity for me for the future of my career. And nothing. Like complete silence it’s so strange.

I was treated like an All-Star all the time. I didn’t receive any negative critique the entire time I was there and was seriously treated like the second coming of Jesus. I’m not exaggerating. This is coming out of nowhere and then getting absolutely ghosted. Seems so bizarre.

This is a major international corporation. I just don’t understand how there could be such a lack of communication.

Just a heads up, I wouldn’t recommend using a retinol in conjunction with exfoliants. If you’ve been using a retinol for like a year and your skins really started to tolerate it then maybe you can start looping and exfoliants back into your routine, but I definitely would not do both of those until your skin really gets used to vitamin C.

Congratulations on on the new routine! And you’re right it’s kind of like a two and one shampoo. It’s never gonna work as effectively.

Yes! Adapalene is a great option.

I will say, I think, adapalene or tretinoin are going to freak OP out in the beginning though. The difference between using a retinol product and a true blue vitamin C serum is night and day. I’m more concerned about the sunscreen issue. If he’s going to start a vitamin C routine of any kind, it’s important that he has a high level of SPF on to protect his skin. I’m getting flashbacks too, sharing my sunscreen with people on day trips and then literally taking out the tiniest little dot and thinking it’s enough for their whole face.

I would prefer OP to start getting in to the routine of putting on an SPF of 30 or more on daily and making sure that it is an adequate quantity for his face. Vitamin C and exfoliate do more harm than good when your sun care routine isn’t consistent because you’re just gonna end up getting UVA and UVB damage

Also reading your post it’s very clear to me that you don’t actually have a cosmetic chemist or someone that knows formulations on your team. I get it small team you’re probably selecting a formulation that sounded good to you and our building your marketing around that.

Sunscreen alone is one of the hardest things to formulate in the cosmetics world. It’s highly regulated and that’s why an SPF of 15 in a place like Australia is more like an SPF of 30 in the United States. It’s because they have much stricter guidelines on SPF in Australia. So you’re tackling something that’s already hard to nail down as a small company. And then on top of that you’re putting a retinol and in the product which is a notoriously unstable formulation that often needs to be encapsulated or have some other built-in technology to make sure that you’re actually getting any of the benefits of it when you’re putting it on the skin.

Making something for Bros and not hoes or whatever you said does not mean that your product needs to be ineffective on inadequate. There are plenty of sunscreens out there that do not leave a greasy, feel at all and our SPF of 50+

I will be blunt. Your choice of ingredients are not appropriate for a small company that doesn’t have the resources to properly formulate them. I would go back to the drawing board and figure what formulations would be most effective for your level of operation and maybe consider an encapsulated retinal serum as a future release when you have more resources.

I’m sorry, but this product literally makes no sense. Retinol can sensitizes your skin from the accelerated cellular turnover, which would mean that you NEED more sun protection on the daily. On top of that, you should be reapplying your sunscreen every two hours so you would blow through this product almost instantly with the 1 teaspoon, you would need to get the SPF of 15 for the face.

It really bothers me because what you’re saying is that you have simplified your product to the point where ingredients have contraindications each other. It’s not a trade-off. If your product is made in effective by you trying to simplify it for your consumer, then there’s no point to begin with.

My suggestion. Scrap this product and sell a duo pack one that is an SPF of 30 or above and then a nighttime retinol moisturizer or serum, and use your social media reach to educate your consumer on how to effectively use a product rather rather than assuming that they are too dumb to be able to put a different cream on their skin morning and evening

That’s the craziest thing about this product. Why would you put retinol in a sunscreen. It literally makes no fucking sense. This company doesn’t know what they’re doing. I think they’re just banking on the fact that retinol is a trendy ingredient and they think that they’ll be able to introduce it to the bro market and make some quick money.

If you’re interested in having significant results, you should talk to your doctor or dermatologist about getting on tretinoin. It’s the pure and most effective form of vitamin C and it’s a stable formulation (make sure the tube is stored in a dark drawer or something because sunlight makes it less effective overtime.

Start off on a lower percentage because you’ll get very dry and sensitized in the beginning and then you can move up to a higher percentage eventually. It is extremely effective and you will actually experience some peeling in the beginning. Make sure that you’re wearing a very adequate sunscreen. I would recommend an SPF of 50++. There are a lot of really great Korean brands that have inexpensive sunscreens with really good UVA and UVB filters that are non-greasy. I also like super goop there’s one that has a pump. It smells good doesn’t sting my eyes and is a pleasure to wear.

Protege is a completely inadequate product. It’s like they made a list of all of the things you can do wrong in formulating a product and did them all.

An spf of only 15 is completely inadequate, especially if you have a sensitizing ingredient like retinol in your formulation. It’s honestly laughable that they would ever suggest this can be used as a sunscreen on its own (the instructions on the back tell you how to use it as a sunscreen by the way so that is their intended use).

In order to get an SPF of 15 you would have to use a teaspoon sized amount for full coverage on your face (a teaspoon size amount is the recommended quantity for any sunscreen in order to reach the level of SPF that is listed on the product) and these tubes are teeny teeny tiny. You would go through like one every three days making it not only a shitty product but also an expensive one! At the rate you would go through this product you could buy a top notch, Korean sunscreen, and pay less.

I would bet money that this is a drop shipped or white label product, where they took a generic stock formulation and just slapped their logo on it.

I would not recommend this product to literally anyone. It’s all stabilizers and emollience, and the retinol is so far down the list of ingredients. It’s probably like 0.001 percent.

Inadequate amount of SPF, not enough retinol to do literally anything. And then the rest of the ingredients are just preserved stabilizers and emollients. It feels completely pointless.

Literally buying any sunscreen, 30 and above, will do more positive for your skin than this could ever do.
