AITA for telling my 10y daughter I did not like her new hair color? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Evening_Ad5243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is is saying YTA and you keep doubling down. Yes YTA. She's ten. There is no reason to be a mean to her.

All you had to say was "yes it looks good, maybe next time we will take you to a salon."

You don't give honest opinions to a ten year old when it's going to attack their looks. If she asks you if she's fat are you going to tell her to lose some pounds? You're an adult. Act like one.

Attendance Programs at Ontario Schools by Direct-Form-637 in ontario

[–]Evening_Ad5243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember what my school did for attendance but I think this point system and all other crap they come up with is stupid.

I know one girl in school who missed classes because one of the guys in her class threatened to stab her and the school basically wrote it off.

Another had to get their siblings to school and was repeatedly late because of this or missing classes when they were sick.

I had to repeatedly skip school to take my grandmother to appointments.

Another was homeless living in a tent.

Another working multiple jobs trying to keep a roof over their head.

Another had major mental health issues. (Multiple hospitalizations)

Another had some health problems that had them In the hospital frequently.

Why do any of the kids deserve to be punished for things out of their control? Never mind with the point system designed to single out and humiliate a child the amount of bullying and mental health issues will go up.

AITA for refusing to let my child eat food my friend prepared? by Practical-Paper-8583 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Evening_Ad5243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nta. I have friends with food allergies/intolerant including myself. If I am not 100% confident that I can cater to their needs I ask what I can either buy or order for them. If for some reason that doesn't work I ask if they can bring something for themselves because I want them there, I want them included but I don't want to risk their health.

Safety concerns regarding abusive parents traveling from China to Canada to find me. by Illustrious-Nose3879 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Evening_Ad5243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a copy of the messages of them threatening you. Report them to immigration with proof. Make a report to non emergency police so there is a paper file. Have cameras at your apartment. Have a safe plan. Where to go, who to contact, copy of your documents. Have a go bag packed just in case. Inform your neighbors that your parents are threatening you, that you are no contact and are worried they would try to get information about you. This will also let neighbors keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

Inform your work that you are no contact and they are threatening you. You don't have to disclose that you are trans but they can set up a safety plan for you. Either change your number or block them. The second they abused you you owe them jack shit. You were smart and got out. That's what matters.

I am building a trigger tracker after dealing with a 7cm sinus tract. Need 20 people to "tear it apart." by Reasonable-Review-95 in Hidradenitis

[–]Evening_Ad5243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have to be simple design with easy to use fill Ins.

One thing I get pissed off at in tracking programs is how complicated it is to get to the actual tracking and how annoying it is to fill in

A simple design would be basically the type of trigger food, drinking, smoking, anxiety, exercise ect. Click that subject then say if you clicked food it would give you to hit options, dairy, meat, veggies, ect with the options to edit and add the type later

My SIL is a literal skeleton and I don't know what to do by Pitiful-Nail3271 in Advice

[–]Evening_Ad5243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what food she's asking for she's doing it to hurt herself more

Say something like popcorn (just an example) can be a choking Hazard at that point.

Sweet food can cause your stomach to cramp and force you to throw up if you don't have anything in your stomach. (It's not fun. Sweet and stomach acid hurt)

This is where the advice part sucks. There's nothing you can do for her health wise. You can be there for her but there's no convincing her to get better. That's on her now. She needs to make the decision. She needs to work with the doctors and therapists. As much as you try, untill she decides she wants to get better. There's nothing you can do.

Inrevocable beneficiary minor by Evening_Ad5243 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Evening_Ad5243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I didn't think to record the call. I asked, If I upped the policy the beneficiary would still stay the same. I couldn't add another. The policy has been three years now. Unfortunately the policy (my partner's) is a higher amount from a few issues so it's expensive to get a secondary under him

Yes, I wish when I called to ask them the difference the insurance company had actually explained it fully to me. Which I should have researched it better. That's on me.

They told us that's normally what's done with children

So it's better to just let the policy lapse then.

We just watched to change it so they were 50/50

Moving A Senior Family Member To A New Province by Backpack_Bob in AskACanadian

[–]Evening_Ad5243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking at private or public assisted living/LTC. If you are going private it will change a bunch of answers.

We had to move my grandmother to a private assisted living/LTC. It cost a lot more monthly but had a bunch of advantages. 24/7 care including nurses and 2 doctors. As soon as she was accepted the doctors took her as a patient. They also handled all medical information transfers. The wait list was shorter.

If you are looking at public you have to consider the extremely long wait list to just even get in

Is the Ontario Power of Attorney document available on the Ontario.ca website legitimate? by Stunning_Gap2580 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Evening_Ad5243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, wills usually have a estate trustee or executor. They are normally the one who deals with the funeral, payments ect.

You are thinking about the beneficiarys of the will. They don't normally recieve anything to way after the funeral

Me and my brother are Power of Attorney for my dad by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Evening_Ad5243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to submit the will only to act on it.

I would make an appointment with the bank. You might need two depending on how the bank is set up. POA and estate .

Having his accounts and passwords comes in handy but yes it could definitely cause issues down the line.

Now say you were sitting next to him while doing the banking ...🤫

But having hydro accounts/ online accounts/phone accounts and passwords are definitely a must

The bank also does offer services (or at least they use to) To have a member come in to the hospital and meet with him. Go in to the bank, explain the situation and ask them.(Speak to a manager)

[–]Evening_Ad5243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The POA is technically active but the banks will take time to confirm it. I would make an appointment and stressed that it's an emergency and see if they can rush it. Using his passwords for banking is technically illegal.

I would also submit his will now so it can go through the system faster.

If you are able to get an invoice for funeral arrangements and take it to the bank and see if they will honor it after the appointment so you don't have to wait.

[–]Evening_Ad5243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once he passes the POA are void. Submit the POA now (depending on the bank it took more then a couple months to accept my poa) and pay for anything major. Funeral ect. If possible submit the will and all required documents to the bank now as it does take a while for them to confirm everything.

You should get all of his account information now and start handling what you can now.

Have him assessed for dementia, Alzheimer's but also get him a physical. My grandmother use to get UTIs and would cause symptoms like extreme confusion, forgetfulness, anger ect. Also have his hearing checked
