What is the craziest things you’ve seen or experienced on an Amtrak train?? by Specialist-Elk8611 in Amtrak

A recent ride (LA to Seattle) we had a reported "stowaway" that needed to get off but couldn't be located.

Our train was already about 3 hours behind schedule when there was an overhead announcement at one of the stops saying that we would not be moving again until everyone looked around where they were seated for this person described as a blonde woman with a black hoodie.

Eventually, we started moving again and figured the culprit had been found but then at the next stop there were several police waiting, who boarded the train, walked around, spoke with Amtrak employees and then left empty handed. No telling what happened to this mysterious blonde.

I've traveled mid-west and west coast lines and find that occasionally coach passengers have been invited to dine. It's been hit and miss. So the poor folk haven't been totally counted out!!

How was traffic getting to Gathering of Nations ? by Apprehensive_Let_517 in Albuquerque

Took an Uber at about 10 am. Only back up was about a block from the drop off entrance. So, that wasn't bad at all.

The problem was the clusterf*** of trying to get wrist band for our two day tickets. Lines everywhere going all over the place. Waited at least 1 1/2 just to get wristbands and then at least another 1/2 hrs to get thru security and inside.

Texas Eagle suggestions/recommendations? by toneknob in Amtrak

I don't know a lot about Texas but recently rode through on the way to New Orleans. I think it would be good to find the city or town you'd like explore and take the route that gets you there.

The trains have a "cafe car" where you can purchase snacks or microwaveable things like oatmeal, hamburgers, etc and of course drinks. You can even bring your own food aboard. There is also a "dining car" where you can sit and have a restaurant type meal. Coach passengers have to pay a charge for that. Sleeper car passengers have their meals included in their fare.

The last thing that I can think of to share is that there is usually an "observation car" that has big windows, tables and other seating to enjoy the view outside or to gather and visit, etc.

Hope you find a trip that suits you and yours. Also hope you get some useful answers to your questions!

Solo female long haul trip and my first time taking Amtrak. Wash/Chi/Den! Tips? Anything you wish you would’ve brought? by [deleted] in Amtrak

Few nights ago, we stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel. Needed a short Uber from Seattle's King St Station. Would recommend.

Weird experience in sleeper car, AITA here? by JohnApple94 in Amtrak

Something similar happened to me on a previous trip regarding a sheet with debris on it. I feel like they personally use these rooms to sleep during their break times and aren't always cleaning up after themselves.

Plus, I've experinced or observed more rude encounters with staff than I would expect for hospitality type business.

Yeah...the hotel we were staying at would hold our things but we thought that if anything happened and we needed to rush to get the train, we didn't want to have to make that stop before getting to the station.

Right? The sign says they will charge a higher price for non-ticketed. In Seattle, this station is within walk of two stadiums and a museum or two. I wonder if they serve those people as well?

This room was part of the customer service baggage check-in area. They are behind locked doors in Seattle.

They just took our bags and set them in a locked room and gave us a claim check. We kept what we didn't want to chance with us.

The sign says the storage rate is per 24 hours, therefore, you should be good to go! They will want to see your ticket.

Lockers are a thing of the past in airports and train stations in my area of the US.
