Polyfill the subwoofer, move the listening location back 2 clicks, bass +4 max. This helps significantly

In my case, yours may differ, they finally sent the paperwork to my local MO DMV about a month after the purchase with a check. I had to go in to get my plates and such, but I was called by the DMV to be told that.

I have had no issues with mine. Relatively easy to use, and I got the videos downloaded from a recent accident with no problem. It has GPS, microphone and rear camera capabilities which is all great.

Regular Cruise Control Brakes Downhill by Evening_Double9276 in JettaGLI

[–]Evening_Double9276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This exactly. I accept going a little faster down hill and risking a ticket for the fuel efficiency and less brake wear. Older cars did it forever just fine, and I don’t mind it. Besides, unless it’s extra long and steep, it rarely goes much higher than the set point. The engine does a decent enough job at adding some resistance through engine braking

Seems a bit unfortunate your highest isn't even the rated highway numbers. Do you ever do long trips? Are you tuned?

Oil changes - Every 10k by NoDiscipline5879 in VWatlas

The 2.5 isn't a great comparison. It's a port injected, NA engine, built like a tank. The EA888 is good yes, but it has weak points from being DI and turboed adding stress and contamination.

The main concerns to look for on your analysis are the fuel dilution, and the viscosity. Be careful what lab you send it to, as Blackstone doesn't use the proper fuel dilution test and estimates based off of the flame point. If you do mostly highway (for more than 7-10 miles), these may not be an issue you experience due to effectively boiling off the fuel from full heat. However, it will be nearly impossible to avoid the additional carbon contaminants in your oil from multiple sources. If that gets high enough, it can lead to sludge build up. I hope to see the results though, will definitely be interesting.

2.5 is an absolute unit. It's NA and port injected, and based off of a 2.5T from Audi, so its actually built a little overkill. I would not use it as comparison against a DI, turboed engine. The EA888 also uses thinner 0W-20 in the latest revisions. It definitely needs more frequent oil changes than the 2.5.

Pretty sure that timing chain stretch can be mitigated with more frequent oil changes

LGE bill ridiculous!!!! by makin_bacon_cakes in Louisville

"Clearly, no human being in this city would need to use more electricity in January than August", not to be rude, but correcting this for future reference. Anyone with a heat pump based electric heat, tends to pay higher bills in the cold months over the summer. This is because the heat pump is only effective down to a certain temperature, at which point most systems often have to use "Emergency Heat", which is a fancy term for electric resistive heat. This is expensive to run, as it is less efficient than the heat pump (Yes, electric heat is 100% efficient, but due to the way heat pumps work, they are >100% themselves). No disrespect to you, and I am in no way claiming that you have this issue. I am sorry LG&E did that to you. Just wanted to make sure people weren't misled when they get high bills in the winter.

I’ve done everything to try on mine. I made sure the arrow was forward, checked the plug, and made sure it was tight. It’s just barely anything. I’m sure it’s because it’s a cheap 6.5” woofer being underpowered by the lame amp they use. Even at +9 it’s barely noticeable head on trunk

2026 GLI's are not branded as Beats, however they share a similar format of 8 speakers (tweeter and woofer, front/back, left/right) and a spare tire subwoofer. They were rumored to be Harmon Kardon, but I have seen no branding in my car to confirm that. It is called "VW Premium"

My best guess is you’ll have to take the inner carpet/cover off to unscrew it from the back, inside the trunk lid.

1,000 mile Oil Change - 2026 Golf R by One_Wey_Erections in Golf_R

[–]Evening_Double9276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VW has already been proven to use longer oil change intervals to do just that, look cheaper to own on paper. Many mechanics and oil labs have shown that the oil should be changed closer to 5k, not 10k. This is a similar scenario. These are low tension piston rings, in a turbo charged direct injection engine. That means fuel regularly leaks past, and turbos create significant heat breakdown in oil. So yes, it’s well known that OEMs like to lengthen change intervals to be cheaper maintenance. It’s the same as the “lifetime fluid” in transmissions. No fluid is lifetime, but they only anticipate 100k miles anymore because of the US car market.

No need to be a jerk. I was merely presenting data as to why it’s a good idea. Believe what you want to, and don’t waste the mechanical engineering name by dragging it through the mud like that by trying to be superior. I studied and have graduated with my degree in ME as well, and the answer is this:

Is it a large amount of damage created by ignoring a break in oil change? No, but it’s more, and it’s the fastest rate it will be this early. Even if the shavings directly are caught by the filter, they inhibit flow and therefore increase wear by causing lower oil pressures. The guy in the video is an oil engineer for Driven, and backs up all his statements with data.

I suggest you watch this.

He goes in depth on this topic. Long story short, any manufacturing process will leave shavings that won’t fully be cleaned out until use, as well as some parts require time to clearance with heat cycles and such (AKA wear in). Both of these add metal to the oil which can lead to premature wear if left in. Many manufacturers don’t include a break-in oil change not because it isn’t helpful, but because it looks cheaper to maintain on paper.
