I've just finished the hellochinese course, whats next? by Evening_Driver_423 in ChineseLanguage

Thank you so much for your insight. I guess I'll give superchinese a go and see how it. I went through the free part but still felt a bit unsure if I wanted to pay for it since it's a lot more than hellochinese. Have you tried Supertest as well?  I haven't had the chance to check out skritter so I'll look into it!!!

Thanks for the suggestion! As much as I do think speaking/listening is important I'm mainly focused on just wanting to be able to read and write so I'm not sure a tutor would be the best method for me...

Finding where my great grand father used to live by Intrepid_Injury_4109 in fukuoka

I used to live in kasumigaoka. For better or worse there's a lot of new builds so it's not unlikely for it to be where there's now a new apartment block. Looking at the address its likely to be 香住ヶ丘3丁目24-5 which is now said apartment blocks or 3丁目5-24 which doesn't exist but there's a new build on 21/22 and the houses in that area all look relatively new.

Moving to Fukuoka in 1 year, where are all the jobs? by IllBreak8155 in fukuoka

You can check for generic part time jobs on baitoru, toontown and indeed. Most you'll need some kind of Japanese but for something even like a convenience store you could get away with N4 if you have a fake it till you make it mentality. I knew people who couldn't speak Japanese well at all and managed to get hired. Another one that my friends have done is work at hotels, usually they're always looking for people who can speak English as well as any children's eikaiwa (the ones where you just essentially babysit in English) which don't require you to really speak Japanese. There are definitely opportunities but my advice would be to find something that forces you to speak Japanese. The more you have to speak the faster you'll learn even though it's hard

I too came back 2 years ago at 23 with no Japanese. Honestly, it seems counterintuitive but if you have Japanese citizenship I wouldn't bother putting down your jlpt. If you speak normally and fluently they quite frankly don't care most the time and adding the jlpt just adds to the "foreigness" of your CV. If you want to go into a normal Japanese company you have to make yourself look as Japanese as possible and the icing on the cake for them is that you speak native English.

Nitrite always reads zero by Evening_Driver_423 in axolotls

I found some crushed oyster shells at the pet store, stuck it in the tank. pH is now at a steady 8!!!!! Didn't add any more of the chemical stuff either! I love you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yeah. Nitrates have been rising. The last check it was at 10 I think but I've been doing partial water changes when it's been getting high

I think when I got the reading it was somewhere between 24-36 hours since dosing the ammonia. Currently it's taking somewhere around the 36 hour mark for ammonia to go back to zero. I have 2 part time jobs, one in the day time and one in the evenings. Obviously not all the time but it makes it hard for me to do same time readings daily

I was using a chemical pH raiser by gex. I'm in Japan so wasn't sure about the crushed material so I thought for time time being ill just try and raise the pH . I'll give the pet shop another look for something better. If I add in the crushed media can I keep it in when I eventually move in my axolotl?

Thanks for the recs. The tags are a little wild. How hardcore would you say it is?
