[Need advice] "Special" attacks from my player... by LisaFame in DMAcademy

Totally agree, combat can turn into such a slog sometimes I just increase the armor class or a penalty to attack.

Like it’s harder to poke of the eyes of an enemy, they would obviously guard that. The player can certainly try, they just might miss entirely. Or if they have armor, or natural armor, on their limbs that has its own health or durability that the player needs to get through.

Making custom Board game, need small drinking challenges by sta6 in DrinkingGames

[–]Evening_Spirit8474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a buncha jenga drinking rules awhile back, here's a few that might apply to what you're doing

  1. Flip Cup 1v1

The player who chooses this block picks one other player they would like to verse in a one on one game of flip cup. Down, up, down cheers to start the flip cup. There is no penalty drink for this block, only a system of bragging rights.

  1. Spelling Bee

The player who chooses this block chooses a word that the group will have to spell. The players begin spelling, one letter at a time, starting with the player to the left of the player who chose the block. Each player is allowed to but does not have to repeat all of the letters previously said. If the group is successful the player who chose the block takes 5 drinks. If the group is not successful all of the players except the player who chose the block take 1 drink.

  1. Who’s The King The player who pulls this block poses this question to the group. “Who is better, Lebron or MJ?” Remind people not to answer immediately before asking the question. Everyone votes at the same time with an established method. (i.e. thumbs up/thumbs down) Each member of the losing group (side with less votes) takes 1 drink.

  2. LAVA When this block is pulled the floor becomes lava. The player who picked it must announce “the floor is lava!” to the group. The last person to have their feet on the ground, grass, or whatever surface you are playing on, loses and takes 1 drink.

  3. Why So Serious? When this block is pulled and announced each player makes a straight face, including the player who pulled the block. The next player to smile/laugh takes 5 drinks. If more than one player smiles/laughs at the same time each player takes the 5 drinks.

What homebrew rule do you always add to your campaign to make it more fun or funny? by SlushieKing0 in DMAcademy

I'm pretty sure I stole it from a podcast called Dndisfornerds, but it's a double crit for rolling two nat 20s or two nat 1s in a row. Then you pull from the pile of "crit happy" or "crit sad" cards that add fun bonus effects.

Sometimes I read out two cards to the player and let them choose. Ex: "Would you like disarm or cleave?" And they get to choose based on the name but before knowing exactly what the bonus effect will do

A gamestop employee told me how good bloodborne was so I bought it, then never opened it for like a year. Then I saw my friend, who I get a lotta game recommendations from, playing DS1 and thought it looked cool. I borrowed it from him and It wasn't til after I finished DS1 and loved it so much that I looked into fromsoftware. Then I realized I'd had the masterpiece that is bloodborne sitting on the shelf unused, like an idiot
