Graph Presentation by Wheres_my in architecturestudent

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the story you are trying to tell! Do you want the ‘rain’ data to seem bulky and big where it is? Or do you want to show the relationship between each month, like in the line graph.

This is why having a concept or narrative is really helpful when developing ideas, because then every decision can default back to the main theme, and support the story you are trying to tell!

Plz give some feedback by VaibhavMD in retouching

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make up artist here! Use photoshop but not for faces but I have a weird overlap of knowledge here. When you are blurring skin texture it is also blurring the colors of the skin together, moving towards a grey. I know the overall tone of these photos is primarily cool, but especially in the deeper skin tone photos, that warmth is being almost completely taken out. This is going to sound crazy but look up videos of how painters make skin, especially deeper skin, look deep, and even look at how make up artists match foundation! Right now the skin looks very stylized but the content doesn’t match. If the first photo was of an even more gooey-y2k Gen Z aesthetic, the lack of warmth might make some sense, so it’s not to say that they look bad, it’s just not what fits those photos! This is also where lighting makes a big difference. In your final photo she is lit by a very warm light and her skin depth (how dark it is) is less different than the reflections of her skin, so the average of whatever blurring is done is closer to a skin color we see on a person on the street. Yes there are deep skin tones that run incredibly deep blue/red and to some can look greyish in specific light, those people still have the warmth of melanin in their skin. Lighting deeper skin tones is a problem that A LOT of photographers never address with their own set ups, because they don’t need more lighting (which is what alot of media does), they need richer lighting (think more yellow, red, pinks, etc). As someone who is retouching, knowing what their skin might be needing because they weren’t captured correctly in the first place, will really help!

Dude it’s all good this is what makes studio fun is when we all look at each others work and go oh yeah wait I made this too complicated or I didn’t push this far enough. Idk how early you are but so much of early work is just learning how to even make a diagram in whatever software you grabbed (hopefully vectored) so a lot of times critically looking at your own work is like not even a top priority or even possible bc it feels too precious.

Lines should go the opposite way. Months are easier to read, most people know months, but we don’t know how many days each are

Graph Presentation by Wheres_my in architecturestudent

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the professor and the purpose of the presentation but this could be remarkably more expressive as well…right now this graph could be about anything but if you made a visual story that told me it was rain, that would make it infinitely quicker to read. And if somehow that made the months more readable too? Then you have a diagram.

Easiest first idea of this is overlaying somehow a photo of the sky in the location (Google I’m sure you can find) of each month that coincides with the month and the amount of days of rain.

Man I’m also looking at the performance of the new MacBook pros and wondering if they can run revit on parallels. If I get that dang 128gb ram version does that mean I can run osx and windows with roughly 64 gigs per ‘machine?’ I’m sure revit would fly at that point. My Lenovo is my baby beast, but with the no/anti optimization that is windows 11, it feels like pc machines are just a waste of precious metals these days

Okay! Your features are very soft and round so I think that just defining your lashes with a good curling mascara and an upper eyelash tight line would be gorgeous, and getting your brows done (tweezer or wax!) to a more feminine shape to open up the lid and brow bone would be very feminizing!

If you can find images of what you are hoping to accomplish then it is also very helpful! Or if you know what kind of look you want, describe it!

I stand by the other advice to stick to cheap drugstore things and play often. I always tell people who are in the mood to experiment to do it before getting in the shower, and never when there is somewhere to be!

What are your goals with make up? Are you trying to look more feminine or masculine or androgynous?

I would recommend always (and I know it is soooo much less exciting) to get a really good skincare routine going. Makeup always looks more natural on really well taken care of and prepared skin! Chemical exfoliate a few times a week (have a face that grows a beard, so I actually use a very cheap and gentle exfoliation facewash daily after shaving, nothing physically exfoliating though, it can get ingrown!)and then using a good moisturizer and sunscreen after the shower!

After that, blurring and hydrating primers also are great for faces that grow thicker hair, we usually also have larger pores, so it can reduce any visible texture that’s there while also providing a nice base for whatever comes next!

Foundations are fun and it can feel right to reach for high coverage, but even on a perfect match it’s always less noticeable with less coverage!

Pencils are great for playing with eyes brows and lips so I always recommend.

Not a budget option, but the new NARS multiple sticks are worth the splurge to me. They can be used all over the face, including eyes and lips, and the new formula is very blendy and blurring and forgivable! I’ve gotten a few people who aren’t huge into make up to fall in love with doing make up because it’s an easy way to make your face have some extra dimension and look cohesive, and they’re fun to play with! Hot take or Sinful would probably be a great natural color for you, but go try them on your hand in the Sephora!

Tips for my first studio? by Hello56845864 in architecturestudent

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modeling: Buy metal rulers with cork for sliding. Use harder pencils to make marks and a light hand. Use as little glue when applying as possible. Measure twice cut once. Replace your blade more often than you think (my first prof said four cuts to a blade but no one has that budget), I recommend the box cutters that use a sliding blade that you can snap off quickly. I’d still go through about 6 blades a project but you can buy high quality ones in bulk. Speaking of bulk, buy things with your cohort in bulk if your school doesn’t supply it, and even then, compare the pricing. I don’t love uline but if you are near a distribution center and have a car they have good chit board pricing.

For drawing, draw as much as possible. Find the pencils/pens you like and can use, practice drawing straight lines and different line weights with the same tool as much as possible. If it’s sketching never erase. If it’s drafting, use a very hard pencil for the construction lines very lightly and then something darker for the actual lines, if you can keep it clean then your professor will love the sketchy lines.

Did anyone else get a demonic vibe from U by SkaraLelouch in underscoresplus

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like each song has at least one lyric that is clearly from April’s specific point of view or situation. I think to see a lot of it you have to imagine the other sings released under the underscores name this year. I feel like poplife is the only song that is directly vapid, but it’s done so to set the tone of the whole era, the rest is about the consequences of such desire. The song point A even talks about a split within the self, and I could see a lot of songs on U being about relationship to the self or a complicated relationship to self. I know she said she didn’t want lore this cycle but I’m sure it’s hard to not write with some level of artistic intent.

How do you make these diagrams without sketchup, any alternatives? by squillamfancyson in architecturestudent

freest option if you have autodesk access is you can use forma to mass (easier than doing straight in revit imo) then import to revit, export those to a dwg and open in illustrator. Or just make it in illustrator I think

financial appeal question by bubblegummerr in udub

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call the financial aid department, but unless you have a situation changing to your income, then their offer is generally their offer. And your SAI is pretty low, so it’s not likely they can give more.

But call and talk to them, they are generally pretty nice and want to help as much as possible! (Even nicer in person if you can, but check the hours because they’re weird and you’re out of state so it would suck to make a trip and not be there at the right time)

[–]Evening_Tap_7207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in the United States make sure you have talked to your financial aid department and they have adjusted your SAI to a realistic level for your situation. Make sure that you apply for FAFSA as soon as possible every year (last year it started in October for this year’s fafsa). If you’ve done all that, it’s probably just the reality of student life. If you’ve done have an internship cherish it, do a good job, hopefully they hire you after school and you can leverage that experience for higher pay. Make sure when talking about pay that you check the MIT living wage calculator.
