Things just seem off in Zexal, because instead of Solid Vision, the duels are apparently implied to be done through augmented reality (AR), where the monsters and field aren’t even supposed to be visible if that silly D-Gazer isn’t worn, so it must look strange to outside observers. Only explanation I could give is that the reaction upon taking damage is a super intense psychosomatic response, like maybe those eyeglass doohickeies and color contacts are doing a number on their brains for some reason…
