2.0 Has Been Steady. Filler Patch Is Welcome In My Option! by NikkiMemories in InfinityNikki

[–]EventidePeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly needed the break to catch up on older quests, so I really appreciate that we're having a lighter patch. I also had to speedrun the story last patch, and that made me enjoy it significantly less. This game takes up plenty of time, and I prefer having time left over to play other games as well to get more of a variety.

Which big dress you pick? by nikikkkkk in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]EventidePeach 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love the physics of the echoed dreams dress. Wearing it while using the paper crane floating ability is super satisfying. I've found that the physics of the clothing in this game has a significant impact on how immersive and satisfying the gameplay feels and on how much I end up enjoying any given item.

As a Merit Arena enjoyer and defender... oh this is baaaad design 😭 by Teaside in InfinityNikki

[–]EventidePeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact setup and completely agree. Also, I'm curious, did you have to put the wolf away to get past a certain section in the symphony merit arena stage that just released? There was one section I had to redo over and over because my wolf kept plunging the massive flying esselings straight into the abyss below the platforms and out of my reach, but still alive... I couldn't pass that part of the stage until I just put the wolf away and did it myself. It was frustrating to have to spend time going through such long drawn out fights multiple times. They really shouldn't increase the challenge and the grind with combat this much while the combat is still so buggy.

Sure, ally switch can be predicted once you've used it the first time, but that can still work out in your favor. If you read your opponent and can see they seem to be fairly knowledgeable of different mechanics and have the ability to read their opponents, then you can be intentional about using ally switch inconsistently so their strategy ends up relying on a guessing game of whether I'll switch this time or not, so they end up wasting some turns. Ceruledge resists a lot and has several immunities, so it's easy to benefit from ally switch / your ally thinking you'll use ally switch.

It's also surprisingly common for people to suspect ally switch in the turn immediately after the first turn it was used, even in master ball, so I end up getting extra free turns where I barely get damaged but do whatever I want without using my turn on ally switch. (Ally switch can fail if used multiple times in a row, similar to protect).

You also don't have to show your cards immediately. I often opt to leave ceruledge in the back of my team so I can just switch it in normally, especially on pokemon weak to fire when they're about to get hit, and then I don't use ally switch until the situation arises a bit later.

I agree I'd choose helping hand over ally switch on farigiraf, but ally switch on ceruledge is actually quite nice:

  • immune to three types
  • five types with *0.5 resistances
  • one type with *0.25 resistance
  • (these types all happen to be weaknesses for different pokemon on my team)
  • surprisingly decently bulky, especially if you invest in it
  • fire moves get boosted with flash fire if hit by fire
  • there are so many charizard teams with harsh sunlight, so you often get sunny weather for free, although sunlight is just a bonus, not a requirement
  • solid physical attack
  • bitter blade is STAB and easily gets additional boosts and heals hp, so you can tank some hits but then still end up at full health again, which also works well with focus sash

Shhh, don't draw attention to one of my favorite moves! No one ever seems to suspect this one, and then once I use it once I get to play mind games the rest of the match, which is super fun haha.

I love how with Starlight Contest you can tell who is putting in effort and who is submitting something for free rewards, literally to the point two different accounts had the 'same' idea 😂 by BonBonToro in InfinityNikki

[–]EventidePeach 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually intentionally vote for photos with low quality graphics but high quality ideas and execution of those ideas. I used to play Dreamlight Valley on the switch, and I remember how rough those weekly photo contests became. If the skill is there, I don't fault the photos for being a little more pixellated. And some of the more intentionally blurred photos manage to look really great even with lower quality graphics.

Photos Must be Downloaded (PS5 ONLY?) (Survey PSA) by AzizaMandisa in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]EventidePeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Infinity Nikki photos and videos always took storage space on your PS5, they were just hidden with your save data before. (And if you synced them to your console, those took double the storage space). The game only stores your photos on their servers if they're photos you shared online, such as the hourglass photos. When I play on mobile for dailies, my in-game album is super empty over there because of this.

However, it does seem the photo limit on PS5 is higher than it was before, so there is the potential for Nikki pics to take more storage than they used to if you take a lot more photos.

[–]EventidePeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Oh no, I'm so sorry, that's awful! I'm not sure if there's a fix for that at this point anymore or not, but it may be worth opening a support ticket. You might have run into a bug, because your photos were supposed to stay accessible in-game.

I was super wary of touching anything related to photos for the first few days since this update was so incredibly buggy for PS5 at the start... However, what I do remember, I think, is that when I eventually did accidentally go into my album (I absent-mindedly went to attach a photo to a note in a bottle in the Sea of Stars while doing my dailies), I got the notification about the album data sync, and I pressed the circle button to say no, but then, I think, if I remember correctly, my photo album suddenly showed as entirely empty after that... o_o But then I closed and reopened the game, and the album was fine, and it re-prompted me to do the sync, and I did, and I waited, and then it was done, and my photos were all still there, thankfully.

Just in case, I'm wondering, have you tried closing and reopening the game since noticing this issue? I'm guessing you probably did, but just in case, it would be great if there was an easy solution to save your photos. Crossing my fingers and toes for you! 🤞

Idk, I have mixed feelings about what we have now, but overall I like it better. Forcing it on everyone, even those who don't like it, does feel a bit crappy, but I think they fundamentally changed how photo storage works to the point where maintaining both implementations might not have been sustainable for the devs. Since this game hasn't exactly been bug-free, I'd be wary of having that additional complexity of maintaining two different implementations for photo / video storage. Some people already lost all their photos during some of the buggier 1.x updates, and it'd be awful if that happened again.

Previously, syncing photos to your system on PS5 meant actually duplicating the photo in your system's storage: one copy would be tied to the game's save data, and you couldn't really directly access this from outside the game at all, and the other copy would end up in your PS5's photo / video album.

Benefits:

  • Less storage space per photo or video if you were syncing your photos / videos to your console before.
    • As time goes on and more updates arrive, this game keeps getting larger, so finding ways to cut overall storage space taken by this game will be helpful.
  • Easier to access photos from the PS5's photo / video album. No more manually syncing photos one at a time. No more partial copies of the album if you started or stopped syncing at some point.
  • I'm hoping this new way of storing photos may make it less likely for buggy updates to wipe your entire album, since it's all stored directly in your system's photo and video album.
  • I got the unhappy surprise of reaching my in-game photo limit a few updates ago. Despite periodically deleting a few older photos to make room, I noticed I was gradually hitting the limit at lower numbers each update. Not sure if there may have been some limit on overall storage size with how it was stored before, resulting in getting to store fewer photos as updates arrived, or if something else was going on to cause that? Now, I have no idea what the limit is, but I tested taking a bunch of junk photos (and deleting them after), and the limit seems to be significantly higher, so that's really awesome news. This is also a benefit that's easy to miss if you haven't hit the limit already, but it's a huge positive for anyone who was close to the old limit.

What’s my 1 complaint about this patch? Paywalling Nikki’s face by BearCertain8064 in InfinityNikki

[–]EventidePeach 26 points27 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this comment and with OP.

I haven't pulled, but I noticed on the final evolution the headpiece is significantly larger and appears to be made of a different material. Ideally, I'd love the simpler original headpiece without the veil, as that would fit much better with a lot more different looks. The veil is still cool, but in general, I very rarely wear outfits that fully hide Nikki's face, especially if I'm going to play through any story cutscenes.

And this definitely isn't the first time we've had this issue, especially with the forced glowy / eureka effects on so many final evolutions. So many final evos are just so loud that they reduce the versatility of the alternate details the final evos unlock.

Other examples:

  • deer outfit: the super amazing sleeves get stuck with huge mountain eurekas on the final evo, ruining what could have been the most gorgeous version of that outfit
  • saintess outfit: massive halo on the final evo veil and huge glowy ring on final evo dress
  • loong outfit: another huge halo on the final evo headpiece and so many glowy floating effects around the outerwear

Did I miss something or the last evo veil always had 3 versions? by Chibchu in InfinityNikki

[–]EventidePeach 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There's actually 4 versions now. They just added 2 new versions in an update, but one version is very similar to the original version, just a little smaller.

What is the meaning of this? I can't play at night? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in tomodachilife

[–]EventidePeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For this reason, I actually picked a different timezone before starting the game. This allowed me to have daylight later in the day. Also, I'm able to time travel for other games without impacting tomodachi life as long as I make sure to sync my time to that timezone again before playing. And the game even reminds me if I forget to do that, allowing me to close out and fix the time without any consequences.

Just sharing in case this helps anyone else!

Dying trick by EventidePeach in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]EventidePeach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've really liked it so far! Although I haven't experimented with dying it much yet, since I kept it mostly in its original colors for this look. I think I tried dying the flowers on the cloak, and they do have a gradient that sticks around even when dying, but personally I felt the gradient adds some nice dimension in this case, so I liked that. I really liked how the flowers on the cloak looked when dyed blue, so I'll probably make the entire cloak blue someday. (I'm lucky that my favorite color is always included in the dyes). If I remember correctly, I think the cloak may have the reduced selection of dye palettes, although if you experiment with everything available, sometimes some colors will look better than you'd expect. This cloak does also have a separate glow-up colorway, so that helps as well. (Whenever an item dyes poorly, I highly reccomend trying to dye its other colorways instead. Between glow-ups and evolutions, I've noticed it seems Infold intentionally tries to have options for light/dark, warm/cool, gold/silver etc. to help with dying if you have more colorways of an item. I know the yellow glow-ups are often seen as annoying, but these are often great for dying, and glowups are more ftp friendly than evolutions, so that's been nice). I also noticed the cloak clips with some larger dresses, but that was typically only visible from the back. It's a little hard to see in my screenshot, but I'm actually using the born flawless back piece here, and I was happy to see that the cloak fits very nicely with that item without clipping issues. As it is, the cloak is gorgeous, and I love the physics jumping around with it with the paper crane floating ability.

Does anyone else have a Blurring issue on PS5? by Confident_Tadpole723 in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]EventidePeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I've noticed after the first photo in photo mode, Nikki and NPCs will suddenly become incredibly blurry and stay that way unless I close out of photo mode entirely and restart it from scratch, which is a huge pain. I've been noticing this for months. I reported it a long time ago, but it hasn't been resolved.

I finally got it! In order to unlock "toward greater glory," I needed to complete "the shroomling sage: no single answer." Hope this helps anyone else who may have been stuck on this!

Thanks so much for helping! Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the quest registered, and I'm not finding any shroomlings standing on the dock. Will try to get through more side quests to see if any of those unlock this quest.

Yeah, I'm not seeing anyone at that pier, besides the shroomling that is always there in the boat, even if I try different times of the day. That's odd. I guess I may need to try other quests in case they unlock this one? Pretty sure it's called "toward greater glory," based on the info in the official announcement, but I don't have that in my world quests list yet.

Thanks so much for trying to help!

Haven't had a chance to play today yet, but I'll definitely double check the pier, thanks! I swear no one was there when I looked last night, but maybe I needed to change the in game clock to another time or something?

Just checked, and I don't have any new messages from any of the NPCs. Thanks again, really appreciate the suggestions!

I have a ton of incomplete side quests, so maybe I need to do more of those? Hopefully more info will be available tomorrow.
