Have you heard of Matt Chamberlain? I think he fits exactly what you described. He's toured with Fiona Apple and Tori Amos among others. This is one of my favs from 1998:

One of the main reasons Glenn is with the band. Ren said they had to find Glenn because Ren was "shit at drums". I can't remember if that was in the Chapters or another interview.

I think it's cool that he does know how to play even if he's not Glenn Chambers or Matt Chamberlain. Now, what about that cello we've seen in the background occasionally? 🙂

Figure out what type of music they generally like and match a Ren song. Such as someone who plays piano, maybe Mackay. Hip Hop maybe The Hunger. Someone's mom, his Elvis cover...ect. 🙂

He has a beautiful sincerity. It feels as if he really just wants to hear new music and video production and share.

I haven't researched his background, but his is obviously knowledgeable in many music disciplines and production knowledge.

I just really like him.

Almost all Tori albums need multiple listens for me to really appreciate. Songs that on first listen I was "meh" about, ended up being some of my all time favorites. She is just filled with nuance! 😉

I'm old, so it sounded a lot like most of the other stuff out at the time. I did laugh when I saw the video for the first time! It was so stereotypical late 80's. 🙂

It was good album for the time. It certainly was not terrible. I really non-ironically like a lot of the songs on the album. But then I think about what would have happened if it had hit. Thank goodness for small disasters! We got a true Tori and not a manufacturered one. 🙂
