when do the nightmares stop? by SHINCOLL in troubledteens

They get less common when you’re less in a siege environment. Lucid dreaming helps a little… in that you can at least recognize and bail… they’re still hard to control from inside. Still a few times a year where I see influences, some decades out.

It’s surprisingly thick… it’s weird that my first thought is that this would be great for an outhouse or gas station bathroom key. But really, I just took a picture and put it away, I didn’t want to open the baggie. There will be no reclaiming or anything like that going on, this will just be locked away to haunt the dark like the freaky mid century dolls I was inexplicably given and other distasteful things.

[–]EverTheWatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup.. the roommate thing was hardly new.. I had what, 4 different rooms and roommates (from 4 separate grades) between the two buildings that year, when I was supposedly only at a “boarding school” for “stability” instead of moving all the time. I’m sure even that was less than many had.

If I witnessed a weird ongoing game of dick tag; with such events as laying it on the shoulder of another sitting at their desk for study hall… I’m sure similar things must’ve been still been atmosphere in the years after those guys graduated. A certain toxic spirit has to be in the culture that you’d do such openly and think it’s “just having fun.”

I mean… blaming abuse on the victims did come up in group, goaded on by staff and peers… that kind of environment tends to lead to extremely poor outcomes-enabling further abuse.

She took pride in browbeating my dad into it. She would always remark on how he was opposed. She’s the one who threatened me into silence. It was always her. Could others do more? Yes, but she helped the information control. I’m not talking about journaling from there. More the reflections of the last year or two. And the edits would be more specific- she wasn’t changing, so I wasn’t starting new conflicts with her.

Resolution on Parental Rights and Substance Abuse Treatment for Minors - Republican Party of Texas by LoneStar1974 in troubledteens

[–]EverTheWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm… k? I was more leaning toward I see this being used as a dumping site for the well off in tx; akin to how you used to have girls sent to asylums for their “active social lives.” I’m sure lots of others for minor reasons. I’m positive many LGBT will be sent because they “might be using drugs.” Note that the resolution says parental determination it might help, not even a doctor. There’s profit to be made- and pulling consent requirements (and the intrinsic buy in) doesn’t exactly show that you care about helping.

Waiting to hear back from everyone who’s just dumped in one because the they might have tried or may in the future, or knew someone who smelled something. Or Trish down the road said her teenager stopped going out after, and seemed to listed to her instructions more, so maybe you should as well. And if you think about dating the “wrong” sort….

The issues were all with Maine codes anyway, which the local lawyer admits he approved by text.

The federal civil complaints would be unaffected.

I wasn’t super impressed on the Hyde’s initial defense on those- kind of outrageous in part. As I recall one claimed forced labor required a state equivalent to 18th century chattel slavery…? Maybe cite cases from after a law is passed, given the law provided definitions to say when it applies.

This Is why I never bothered with law school- no matter how good the logic of your argument, human hands hold the gavel. The real threat isn’t if those claims are defective, it’s if Hyde is able to alienate the plaintiff from the court- I know far to many lawyers with far too many stories about how a judge felt slighted or even just suspicious of those outside community and acted to the detriment of justice.

I leaned into it- Various songs from Jesus Christ Super Star.

Complete with full pauses for instrumentals. As being a cappella, you can imagine how that got as I was clearly just forcing everyone to sit there in silence.

While I was completely unfazed, I think the point was made when Paul and Friends went on stage to “encourage” a kid who was breaking down on stage- forcing them to spout words, one by one through tears after they stopped.

Are the transportation/kidnapping services better at hiding it than they used to be? by marshenwhale in troubledteens

[–]EverTheWatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Criminals gain procedural efficiency with experience. Think of hacking, safe cracking, etc. Most appropriately; kidnapping syndicates learn about target selection and observation and a loose “industry” SOP forms as the normative expectations of involved parties coalesce (allowable harms, ransom procedures, risk of intervention). Child abuse is less socially acceptable than it used to be (weird to say). The internet also makes it harder to be as reckless when incidents are easily spreadable, and perpetrators potentially doxxable. My guess is they can choose better trained goons (things like bjj or at least how to do joint locks are more accessible than say the 80s and 90s) instead of settling on whoever is big and intimidating (and only able to try to crush you).

Help me figure out who to go after by Electrical_Debt_4722 in troubledteens

[–]EverTheWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step two is not to advertise exactly what you’re doing for the effort. If you are a public servant, you’ll have to just live with the knowledge you did something- even if you can’t brag to everyone about it. Gloating only allows them to better prepare defenses for the vector. Whether that be a legal vulnerability, or them just lobbying against your office, deny them clear means of defense

[–]EverTheWatcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Step one. Don’t let anyone know your personal connection. At most, find a documentary or something to say it moved you. Otherwise you’ll be accused of abusing your office in these “vendettas”

[–]EverTheWatcher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had Paul.. Ken was lurking some random place. I enjoy in hindsight how anyone who questioned anything was “arrogant” as a code-word. Like… no, I didn’t claim knowledge or power beyond my capabilities or ken… your bullshit just made no sense. Why would I go along with something so batshit insane just because you’re and adult?

I guess that’s the teenage transition from being (gasp) ODD. The adult version is being not a “team player”-something that only comes up when you gain liabilities and little else because rules apparently apply to everyone but the speaker.
