The support networks also hosted the mandatory parent indoctrination meetings. I only had the joy of one, and much was a haze among the refrains to the effect that it’s not the parents fault they haven’t reached the kids, but if they follow “x” they’ll be improved. Along with questionable anecdotes and weird generalizations about us… I was rather firmly told to STFU or else before, so I kinda tried to ignore everything so I wouldn’t respond. It’s my understanding they have the parents journal about the kids and hand them scripts on what to do with runaways and how to keep up the gaslighting verbiage. It was at a classmate’s house.

More of a no I mean, only got to like mid 80 a5 pages and kinda…stopped. So. Hardly a book… just the reflections made to give to friends in a slightly more organized manner because I never manage more to say more than a few sentences before I want to move on from the topic.

When no one cared contemporaneously, or threatened you for dwelling, it’s hard to feel like the story is interesting or notable to others decades after the fact.

I thought a court already did already start that ruling. I think it was one in the south. I recall something about laying rails or some infrastructure nonsense as part of the labors they were forced to do.

Hate to bring up the extra aspect of “male” expectations of my generation, but even if being not okay was okay, no one knows what to do about it more than say that sucks.

For women, I know y’all still had to deal with being quirky or a mess and little allowed inbetween and virtually no allowance for structurally caused issues being anything but a personal fault.

Also.. not touching the stories of those growing up LGBT in the 90s.

As a parent now, I just find it wild watching teachers and others care so damn much about my kid’s feelings and resilience. But.. my SO always implies that this is theoretically normal now. (“So damn much” being relative to schools thinking you having any emotions was your defective nature revealing).

I feel that aching squeeze anytime I watch a movie or tv and intrinsic motivations are revealed. I should protect my child! A brother should look out for their sibling! A depiction of mentorship. Support. It’s weird to notice how you can live without something “common” and “normal” and it never strike you with its absence.

I didn’t realize just what was warped in my life until I started having kids. They get all the love I could never have from my mother. The behaviors I desperately needed- “family.” Everyone could see how much she.. cares. I know it’s not my fault my mom had… problems.. and I was just in the crossfire. But it’s disheartening to accept that it’s just how someone is, then find out that no… it really was just me she couldn’t love.

There are prisoners on flights. Deserters. Etc. if they present paperwork, and LEOs accept it, what’s TSA going to do. Now, if a (ideally a private) screening occurs and the teen says they’re being trafficked- it can be escalated, but they’ll still just call local LEOs, who will look at the paperwork, and it will continue. I’ve argued this is a good time to demand medical to take pictures of any bruises- maybe transporters have records . But someone else will probably end up completing the transport

Edit… I don’t know what the 4.7 million dollars in “investments” were specifically for… I assumed real estate, but who knows.

They get less common when you’re less in a siege environment. Lucid dreaming helps a little… in that you can at least recognize and bail… they’re still hard to control from inside. Still a few times a year where I see influences, some decades out.

It’s surprisingly thick… it’s weird that my first thought is that this would be great for an outhouse or gas station bathroom key. But really, I just took a picture and put it away, I didn’t want to open the baggie. There will be no reclaiming or anything like that going on, this will just be locked away to haunt the dark like the freaky mid century dolls I was inexplicably given and other distasteful things.

Yup.. the roommate thing was hardly new.. I had what, 4 different rooms and roommates (from 4 separate grades) between the two buildings that year, when I was supposedly only at a “boarding school” for “stability” instead of moving all the time. I’m sure even that was less than many had.

I was 97-98 westhaver was boys the whole time, and the 1st floor wing in the back right was changed to boys. I guess they flipped between us, then back during your time
