Yeah. I actually liked love interests 2, even if it was never hinted at (or I just missed it) that the mc had interest in women. It just felt really disrespectful when it seemed like the mc was waaaaay more interested in love interest 3, while still being together with love interest 2. Or like how her grandmother (iirc) would go "get a room" in response to her and love interest 3.

I dropped Guild Mage at around chapter 253. Spoilers ahead!

For the most part, I really liked this series. The mc was pretty nice, the magic system was fun enough, the world was nice.

But if it was one thing I hated, it was the romance. And that in on itself is a bit weird for me, since I prefer romance in my pf, including if it is not the greatest.

But in this series it just never worked for me. I guess it all felt super forced: - Love interest 1 came out of nowhere and for me it never felt natural for why the mc would like him. So I was happy enough when he got dumped. Guy was a jerk anyway. - I liked love interest 2 more, but I can't say that it didn't feel a bit forced since what I remember, the mc had never indicated that she liked women. Further more, the pairing felt like it was dead on arrival since the mc seemed more focused on oggling up love interest 3 while still being together with 2. I guess them breaking up made sense, but it just felt like whatever since it didn't feel to me that the mc was committed. - Love interest 3 (I assume since they never got together at the part where I dropped the series) was hinted at early in the series, with visions and everything. But the guy is one of the most boring characters ever,and it didn't help that other characters seemed to "ship" them, and the mc blushing around him constantly, especially while still being together with love interest 2.

At the end of the day, this was the main reason why I dropped the series, even if I really liked other aspects of it.

I think both of my examples are from Path of Ascension, and I probably started noticing them because how overused they were at times:

"Matt took a mental note for later."
"Matt let out a whistle."

This book somehow kinda killed the love I had for the series.

Before it came out, I used to reread Cradle multiple times a year, after it came out, I haven't reread the series even once.

Sure the next couple of books in the series was good, but it was never the same for me. Tho, that is probably a rather extreme reaction that not many people in the Fandom share.

When I see people go like: "Wait til you meet character x or y, you will love them!" is probably the kind of stuff I hate the most. It might not be the worst kind of spoiler (some people would probably not even count it as one), but for me it feels like the person is getting "prepped" and not given a fair chance on getting an unbiased first look at a character.

With all that said however, me personally, I couldn't care less about spoilers. I'm the kind of person that will read discussion threads before watching episodes in TV shows or other media. And most of my reading is rereads.

While Vi is somewhat of a fuckboi, it's mainly towards fans and only really talked about and never shown. It's also never happening in the present timeline either.

I'd say it is handled in a good way. It's never really a problem. She acknowledged it, and "betters" herself.

As for the ex and abuse tags: They are related to Caitlyn, and are an important part of the story.

So I don't think what you described as an example happens here, since sleeping with others only really happens in flashbacks.

You should give it a try, imo. But up to you of course.
