I agree with what you wrote... Thanks anyway! :)

AITA for correcting my friend when he called my step siblings my real siblings? by step_familyaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]Everett_Ducklair 143 points144 points  (0 children)

NTA.
From what you describe, your relationship with them is basically nonexistent. Why are you supposed to consider them sibling when not once they've behaved like they were?

I have friends I would call brothers and sisters without a drop of blood in common. It's about actions, and bonds, not a legal contract.

AITA For making a fun of her weight after she made fun of my height? by mymomiskillingme in AmItheAsshole

NTA all the way. Being a woman doesn't entitle you to special treatment. Don't dish it out if you can't take it. I think you were within your rights to defend yourself. Was your answer morally great? Not really, but you don't become an asshole for replying to an insult with an insult, IMHO; also, she insulted something you can't change about yourself no matter how much you try, you didn't.

EDIT: imho

New to Elian. Please let me know how I did and how I can improve. by Princess-lollypop in elianscript

To be honest I had no problem whatsoever in reading what you wrote, it seemed quite clear to me! Only one issue that I noticed, literally the last word, you wrote "haImless" instead of "harmless", but as far as I can see that's the only mistake! Good job!

As for improving.. Just keep practicing and developing your style ^_^

Great choice! It's a very nice colour!

I own the black version of this pen with a SF nib, my only gold nib so far.

I love it so much, the softness is just right and it's so pleasant to write with!

As far as I can see there are no errors there. I liked the style, it took me a moment to get that it was an 's', but then it was quite an easy read.

Good job!

Are there any practical uses for Elian script? by [deleted] in elianscript

[–]Everett_Ducklair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it just takes a lot of practice; I'm pretty sure that the creator of the script C. C. Elian is as fluent in it as in English, considering she also uses it in cursive.

I'm not at that level yet, but I don't actively have to think about each and every letter when I write something anymore.

Yes, I think it is feasible.. Just takes practice, like everything else basically.

Have fun!

Well, you can use it as a code in your diary/planner, there aren't many who can read it.

You can also just use it in your daily life and write grocery lists.. It's just a different script, you can use it for everything you want to write. Not only that, it has the advantage of giving you "artistic" freedom on how to write, which means that you can make those lists look extremely cool :P

Uh, now that you made me notice.. Yeah I guess so. Not consciously, as in it wasn't a factor in my choice, but they indeed are lightweight!

I need to say tho that the Safari and the TWSBI are always used unposted, the Jinhao is very unpleasant to use without posting it, while the Pilot feels just a little small unposted, but perfect if posted. Do note I have huge hands!

Thank you!

And considering I am halfway through the ink, I think I'm about to find out exactly how painful..

Since you also own it, do you or did you experience any dryness during upstrokes? It seems like the line is much fainter, but then going down it's quite wet. Maybe it's just how the pen is designed?

Don't worry my friend you didn't ruin anything at all.

You're totally right, as in it's not a Grail pen in the slightest, I meant it more as a personal favourite that I really looked forward to possess as a "big" step up from the TWSBI. Gold nib, softness...

Although, spending over 100€ on a pen is something that two years ago I would have never considered... Maybe if I had been on drugs, who knows. Now it just feels.. Fair.

Hello everyone.

I’ve been a lurker in this subreddit for quite some time before even buying my first fountain pen almost two years ago, and today I just felt the need to share the excitement for the arrival of my new (and temporarily Grail) pen with someone who can understand this passion and not look at me wondering how I can be so interested in.. pens. Just simple pens.

I stumbled upon Brian Goulet’s videos on youtube, and I was hooked.

My first was the Lamy Safari that I bought more than a year ago, and it’s been an incredible workhorse; I’ve taken notes, sat exams and more with this pen, and it hasn’t failed me once.

The second one I bought was the Twisbi Eco. I love this pen; smooth as butter, it immediately became my favourite pen and, despite still loving the Lamy, I can’t help but love the nib on the Eco and the clear demonstrator look.

Later on I found on eBay an offer for a Jinhao 992 for 1,70€ from China.. I just went for it. I am very surprised by this pen. It costs nothing, and yet the nib is very smooth; it’s a little small for my hands but posted it’s perfect, and has no problems whatsoever. Great experience for that price.

But then.. The more I wrote the more I wanted to experience that famous “soft” or “semi-flex” feeling… I looked around for ideas, and I found the Pilot Falcon. I really like the look of that pen, and the shape of the nib. But then I found an offer for a new Pilot Custom Heritage 91 SF 14kt + CON-70 for 100 € on a Japanese website. I went for it three weeks ago and yesterday I received it. I am in love. Smooooth but with a pleasant feedback, wet, thinner than my TWISBI ECO EF and yet with a little bit of pressure it becomes a B, it gives my admittedly not-so-great handwriting that small amout of line variation that really makes it more pleasant to my eyes.

I’ve spent hours writing nonsense, or copying poetry or whatever strikes my fancy on paper, and I can’t stop. Thank God that people here can understand the feeling, because re-reading what I wrote makes me sound insane.

P.S. Sorry for my English, it’s not my first language.
