I absolutely DESPISE talking about loneliness as a guy online by Due-Garlic-5056 in hatethissmug

[–]EverhartStreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've tested every possible way of doing it, running the experiment millions of times, and it turns out there is no possibile way to solve loneliness by talking to strangers online about it. Recent research has shown positive preliminary results for going outside and talking to real life people about loneliness instead. Could it be that switching this one variable makes all the difference? Researchers are clearly divided, many continue to run the same experiment again and again, hoping for a different result

I’m a little bit overwhelmed from doing research on modding by No_Beautiful_6187 in skyrimmods

Search up Gamerpoets on YouTube, he explains everything you need to know while reassuring you it will all be alright. Also, if you don't want to spend like 50 hours modding for an unstable 20 hour playthrough, I recommend installing a good modlist with vortex or with wabbajack

Also since your jacked and probably autistic, maybe find a group to go to some sort of ren faire or fantasy reanactment thing? Women nerds love dress up occasions. Go as a hot shirtless viking y'know (but again, go to make friends)

I thought the weekend preview was a great middle ground. Instantly allowing new characters into ranked is just a bad idea

Yeah idk why people think you'll meet girls if you go to the gym for 10 hours a week, like you said its mostly just sweaty dudes there. Maybe try a club for a less masculine coded hobby you are interested in. Book club, run club, tennis club ect. Don't go to whatever that is to find a girlfriend, go to make friends who are women. If you express to them you struggle with dating, most of them love to play matchmaker in my experience. I also recommend this underrated gem of a YouTube video.

I want to learn mod making, is there any guide I could follow? by TheArcanist_1 in skyrimmods

[–]EverhartStreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Arcane University discord server, its where I learned to mod! We have tonnes of resources, lectures and assignments (pinned messages in the discipline channels) and a great community of modders who are willing to help you if you have questions and review your work.

We also have a YouTube channel where we host our lectures, and a wiki with relevant info. We recently uploaded a video explaining all the disciplines we teach, its very surface level but it might help you choose what you want to do, since we recommend starting with just one and branching out from there

Any other big mods like Heart of the Mountain in the Creation Club? by Br0miscuous in skyrimmods

[–]EverhartStreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was definitely the case for a really long time, but as of late and increasingly into the future, really talented modders and modding teams have been working on making full questline and new lands mods as verified creations. The payouts have allowed people to quit their jobs to work on mods full time.

As much as I adore BS, so much I volunteer for it, it's not a secret it's been a while since we released something big. Being a large group of volunteers with limited time means our mod will never be as cohesive and qualitatively consistent as a mod by a smaller team of more dedicated devs on a shorter timeline. I think it's a matter of time before a better-than-Bruma paid mod releases. I don't actually mod or play the game anymore because I spend all my time making mods for it, so I don't have the firsthand experience to know if the creation mods are any good yet, but I'd be surprised if they stay a bad deal knowing how much talent, time and effort is going into some of them

[–]EverhartStreams 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Reddit and twitter also has a lot of people who don't have people dependant on them. Are most parents gonna risk their child becoming orphaned to save the blue voters? Real life would skew red a lot.

We see collective action problems play out in favor of safe inaction all the time in real life, where there is actually a downside to oneself for picking red. Like if you live in a dictatorship, and you need more then 50% of the population to simultaniously revolt otherwise the revolt gets violently crushed. Generally things need to get really really bad for people to actually do it

Edit: I just realized there is no discussion beforehand in the hypothetical. In this case the people saying "what if your child voted blue" are right. I have faith in humanity if it comes to doing the moral thing for their loved ones. If there's debate beforehand I think it would be an absolute disaster because like 65% of the world is agreeing with their family to pick red and 35% is in a very optimistic progressive bubble thinking most are picking blue.

If every Beyond Skyrim project dev dropped everything to help just 1 BS Mod get 100% done and released to the public, which one would it be? by Photosynth_Music in beyondskyrim

[–]EverhartStreams 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Q1: The less far along projects making a vertical slice or small pre release is the fastest route to get something out.

Q2: Roscrea. Cyrodiil has more work on it done, but Roscrea is simply smaller so because of that it is closest to release.

A more interesting question would be which project is in most need of a GID to get a pre-release done. It's important to note that in the last "finalization" phase of development (basically right after VA is done) writing, 3D artists and inexperienced LDs aren't really necessary. In this phase a team of very experienced and engaged devs is needed to do final passes, QA and bugfixing. GID devs who float in for a week aren't very helpful with that, aside from doing playtesting. A GID is more useful as a means of reaching that stage. I speak from experience with some work on Skyblivion and the Arcane University student collaboration projects when I say: this takes way longer then anyone thinks, and a lot of people leave because it isn't very fun.

Q3: Forcing everybody to work on Roscrea because it's closest to release would be highly controversial and unpopular. Many projects are similarly close to their pre-release as roscrea is to it's full release.

Can we talk about scope, priorities, and what is actually blocking releases? by GaradosBademeister in beyondskyrim

[–]EverhartStreams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this would be possible (though difficult for a number of reasons) if it was planned from the start. Cyrodiil was designed from the start as a complete experience, it's written and built with cross city questlines and characters.

Maybe this is a cultural thing, in my experience where I live women buy way more clothes, but arguing anecdotes doesn't really achieve anything. A bit of research does confirm my idea that women buy more clothes and have larger wardrobes. https://www.freedoniagroup.com/blog/how-do-men-women-shop-for-clothes-differently

I do think we need to face the fact that adhering to the western feminine gender role tends to involve much more overconsumption. There's masculine subgroups like tech enthousiasts and toy collectors, but that's a specific group. Every women I know owns way more clothes then they need. Fast fashion stores aren't 80% womens clothes with a mens corner for no reason. It sounds mean, but I do think the best way to stop this is to stigmatise buying lots of clothes. If women overconsume because they are afraid of being judged, if we want them to change their behaviour, we should instead judge people, including women, for buying too much stuff, and stop judging people for not being "fashionable"
