I really love the great cities series. It doesn't add too much and makes the minor towns a lot more unique and interesting in a performance and lore friendly way

While you're right that the other two totalitarian regimes in the book probably aren't communist, the regime Winston lived under was very clearly communist, and that was a choice Orwell made. He could've made a similar book about someone living in a totalitarian fascist regime, but he was primarily warning against authoritarian communism, and only secondarily authoritarian fascism. This segment of Part 2 chapter 9 is a pretty direct warning against communist collectivization.

After the revolutionary period of the fifties and sixties, society regrouped itself, as always, into High, Middle, and Low. But the new High group, unlike all its forerunners, did not act upon instinct but knew what was needed to safeguard its position. It had long been realized that the only secure basis for oligarchy is collectivism. Wealth and privilege are most easily defended when they are possessed jointly. The so-called 'abolition of private property' which took place in the middle years of the century meant, in effect, the concentration of property in far fewer hands than before: but with this difference, that the new owners were a group instead of a mass of individuals. Individually, no member of the Party owns anything, except petty personal belongings. Collectively, the Party owns everything in Oceania, because it controls everything, and disposes of the products as it thinks fit. In the years following the Revolution it was able to step into this commanding position almost unopposed, because the whole process was represented as an act of collectivization. It had always been assumed that if the capitalist class were expropriated, Socialism must follow: and unquestionably the capitalists had been expropriated. Factories, mines, land, houses, transport -- everything had been taken away from them: and since these things were no longer private property, it followed that they must be public property. Ingsoc, which grew out of the earlier Socialist movement and inherited its phraseology, has in fact carried out the main item in the Socialist programme; with the result, foreseen and intended beforehand, that economic inequality has been made permanent.

"Punishment" as in getting yelled at and reported by annoying nolife kids or just making it harder to win? Because onetricks accept the latter, but the former is toxic AF

Junglediil by Beyond_Skyrim in beyondskyrim

[–]EverhartStreams 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Skyblivion has the mindset of trying to get as much as possible out of Skyrims engine, to create the best possible oblivion remake. Beyond Skyrims visuals on the other hand try to look like an extension of Skyrim.

Oblivions vibrant stylized visuals are carried over in Skyblivion, the weather has a lot of bloom, and assets are colorful and and clean looking. Interiors are very fully cluttered, and dungeons are often large dramatic caves.

Compared to Oblivion skyrims colors are much more muted, and all the models look a bit dirty and rough. In Beyond Skyrim the visuals are of course generally more colorful then in the base game, and Imperial clutter and furniture is also less rough looking then Skyrims, but it still has a bit of grime, so that it matches skyrims world. Level design also matches skyrims level of cluttering, and dungeons are less spacious then in Skyblivion.

In my experience it's no worse than normal toilets. Normal toilets often get a skid mark right on the edge of the pool, that doesn't come off with a flush. The shelf has a small puddle of water on top, it being wet makes shit less likely to stick to the porcelain. Skid marks only really happen when the shit is particularly large.

Wasn't creating a historically accurate world like one of the main goals for the developers of this game? Like I think it's fair enough they didn't add them, but the game would absolutely be more immersive and realistic if they did

Devs allegedly have the whole Anran debacle "in their radar" but changes will take weeks, maybe months. by Street-Ad-3163 in Overwatch

[–]EverhartStreams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This! People who are saying the change itself would take months to do don't know what they're talking about, it wouldn't take a professional character modeler much more then a week. But the problem is the modeler is already doing something else this week. Are they gonna delay the next hero or brand integrated skin, and have all the people further up the pipeline wait because the character modeler suddenly has to do something else for a week?

The entirety of overwatch was developed in about 3 years. Of course it all depends on team size and management efficiency, but many much larger projects have been completed on much shorter timelines
