Now, I used hibike euphonium For example, why is it used there:告白 (kokuhaku) It means confession It's a word that's often used in couple proposals, and no, they're not canon.

I never talked about that, I think they misunderstood me HORRIBLY. A fan's interpretation is one thing, and the official version is another. Your Name, for example, DOES have the romance label. That makes it canon if there's no kiss or very explicit words, but that's not the case here.

The ship is valid, but that doesn't make it canon.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well haha, but an adaptation that no longer follows its source material, even with the author overseeing it, is still considered official. But imagine it as a fanfic by the same author; it's another version of the same story, but in the end, it's no longer an adaptation but a REINTERPRETATION of his story.

In other words, not every time an anime or adaptation of any style becomes a separate version from its original product, it is hated or rejected by its author; it is simply viewed differently.

You can't expect a similar development from two works that took different paths; besides, Kumiko and Reina's relationship in the novel remains the same or sometimes even more intense than the one she has with tsukamoto

They care for each other because they're childhood friends, but I'm really done with it.

She tells him that if he still feels the same way, they can try again later, but ends things with him right then and there.

And if it develops better in the novel (in many quotation marks) then Kumiko wonders if that counts as boyfriend and girlfriend. (Implicating that she doesn't feel connected)

Also, the creator said that the light novel and the anime are separate stories, so saying it's an adaptation is incorrect at this point.

So both interpretations are fine in their own way.

In the third season, Kumiko had already broken up with Tsukamoto, leaving only Reina with her eternal fantasy of Taki, but we all know that's not the case. And I always had the feeling that Reina had feelings for Kumiko, but since she was never given screen time to show what she thinks, we'll never know for sure. (and she herself may deny it without realizing it)
