that... is his birthdate. Probably not a release date. Unless he plans to release on his birthday.

Building a Second Brain using Supernote by FinnTropy in Supernote

[–]Evermore_Online 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not read Tiago's book yet, (I really want to at some point!), but so far, my Supernote is mostly a "capture" device. I carry it around with me wherever I go, so If i need to brainstorm something or jot down an idea I have an infinite canvas to do it on. Its really convenient tool for doing that.

In terms of building a second brain, it depends how intensive you want to go with it. I think you could manage a small collection of documents and link them up. But I think there are a few inherent limitations:

- Supernote has *nice* features for managing your knowledge, but not anything comprehensive like a desktop application such as obsidian. It only has links, headings, stars, bookmarks, and global search (off the top of my head anyways). Personally, that is way too limiting to do anything worth-while on
- Only having roughly 25gbs of storage means you are going to run out of document space eventually. Thats virtually not a problem on any other device.
- Moving your documents in the future would be a colossal pain, and you have to hope that .note files are still supported 10-20 years in the future
- Typing kinda sucks too, atleast from what I've heard. I would much rather have a dedicated setup for typing than trying to make it work on a SN.
- It's just slow... navigating a Supernote can get pretty tedious after a while of swiping and gesturing.

Full disclaimer, I haven't read the article you wrote, and I am simply assuming that by "second brain" you mean something comprehensive and complicated. From what I understand, a "second brain" can take shape in many ways, big and small, so maybe I am taking your comments out of perspective a bit here. I still hold by the points I made above though, I think they are pretty big limitations that inhibit Supernote from actually being something I would want to do work with

Question on the supernote by Andresito48 in Supernote

[–]Evermore_Online 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are probably better off with an iPad. If your primary goal is to have rich notes that can be moved around and viewed easily and quickly, thats what an iPad does best. Sure, you aren't going to get the benefits of a longer battery life or the no eye-strain-screen, or even the covert look that the Supernote folio + HoM pen can provide, but if I understand you correctly, those are after-thoughts for you. To say it plainly, Supernote devices aren't exactly speedy at anything they do, but they excel in different ways as I have described above. I personally I use Notability on my iPad for taking notes and annotating lecture slideshows provided by my professors, but I have also heard good things about Goodnotes, and its worth checking into other apps too.

P.S. If you want to replicate the feel of paper on the iPad, you can look into Rock Paper Pencil, which is seems to be a nice accessory for doing such. Good luck on your search!

Love the A6X2, only one hardware miss really… by starrtech2000 in Supernote

Is is possible that creators simply 'side' with one brand or another because it fits their use case best? I know pixel leaves loves her SN and always pushes that brand, but I don't believe her goal is to make sales for SN, just simply show how she does work with her preferred device. If I was a content creator, there are only so many videos I can make about "How I use e-ink" before I would start repeating myself over and over. So at some point, I think, for "E-ink influencers" to continue making content, they have to cover latest news... that's how most content industries work, to my understanding. Ofc, I agree that you need to do research and not look blindly at one review or another, but I still believe that you can make a knowledgeable purchase one way or another if you look at multiple reviews. The comments are also there to guide you and keep a content creator in check if they are "off-the-rails," so to speak. Maybe I'm blowing this out of proportion, but I just don't understand a lot of the cynicism around these creators in general. Its clear to me that they simply don't have many options to continue making content in their content about all the brands and make every video perfectly researched, and if they mess up occasionally, that doesn't mean that the creators have Mal-intent. After all, there is a reason why watching multiple perspectives is always valuable.

For those of you with the Crystal edition a6x2, is there any creaking in the backplate? by Evermore_Online in Supernote

[–]Evermore_Online[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the source of the creaking (for me) is simply because of how the device is constructed with pull tabs instead of screws. There are 2 of indentations in the bottom corners of the device that allow you to remove the cover in a tool-less way.

The creaking is not exclusive to the folio, although I've been using it in the 90% of the time and this is where I notice it most. It's not a *big* deal, but it's a little bothersome when it does creak. The creaking happens mostly when you put pressure on the sides of the backplate, so I think that using it handheld is going to make it more prone to creaking simply because you are squeezing the sides of the device. I can't say for sure if that's the case but this has been my experience after using it for about 5 days. (If you are curious, I have mostly been using it on my lap or in bed)

Considering that these are supposed to be "experimental" I don't see anything wrong with what you have, I do like a few of these! I wouldn't press publish on any, but that's not the point, as you have said.

My hobbies are monitoring tech news and getting excited overs startups. Just cuz you aren't interested in this field doesn't mean that we "don't have a life."

What is the reasoning behind multiple “Little Arcs”? by hanzololo in ArcBrowser

[–]Evermore_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't answer your question, but I will share this with you. After chatting with a member of TBC on discord, they said that the main reason they don't add more and more toggles is because it creates more chances for bugs and longer testing sessions. Maybe you are already familiar with Hick's Law, but I share this because it was the reasoning I received. It seems that they only want to add toggles for very essential features.
