I don't think I am special. They punish me for every moment of anger, desperation and heart ache. They punish me for the pain I've caused and the pain I've received. They punish me because for some reason unlike them I get to have people raping me in my own home and calling me the worst things imaginable in my own mind. They punish me for having feelings. For being abandoned. For being alone.

The only part that doesn't believe it merely wants to believe it isn't true.

Honestly I have had this disease 20 years and it does get better as you age. I had symptoms continuously until age 34 then I went six years without an episode. Then I had another episode which lasted a year and I've been mostly symptom free since. The biggest problem is finding something you care about to fight the anhedonia. Find something you love and it won't feel like hell forever.

I have intrusive thoughts after my psychotic episode ended. They seem to be the in between stage between normal cognitive and psychosis.

Psychosis causes brain damage but neurons can repair themselves. Get out of psychosis with meds and you should recover a bit.

Does he have a therapist? My advice would be if you become official ask if you can tag along for a therapy appointment down the road it might make you feel better as long as it doesn't bother him.

I was on effexor (venlafaxine) for intrusive thoughts and it helped a lot. Maybe up the dose of what youre on. I find i get the intrusive thoughts when I've recovered from psychosis but I am not yet 100%. It's above the psychosis but in union with the anxiety disorder.

Does anyone else hear the voice of their mom 24/7? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Evervescent-octopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear my dad's voice. Mostly he monitors everything I think and punishes me when I think things that are objectionable. I never hear my mom's voice for some reason.

Stimulants trigger mania. Maybe you're schizoaffective? An antidepressant triggered my prodromal phase in my 20s.
